The Tempest's End.

Recommended Posts

A storm. That's what Edward Thatch compared his life to as it flashed before him, watching the Black Nexus mutilate the blackness of his tainted form, stripping him of his art. Thunder, wind and rain: key features of his mortal life upon the waves, when people still called him 'Captain'. Things might've been simpler back then, he pondered, as the other Necromancer clot his means of  steering death. 'Definitely simpler' concluded the Wraith beneath his screeches of agony, 'before this whole magic malarkey came along and complicated everything'.

He contemplated what he was in this world, both in the past and present... What he could've been were it not for his transgressions. Once Arcane Academia took over as his occupation, he liked to call himself a 'wizard'... A conman, that's all he really was. A magician, perhaps, but never the master he'd described himself to be. Gazardiel seemed to assure (intentionally or not) that he wouldn't function too well in most fields. Nal'Garosh, perhaps the only reliable character in his life, still scarred his mind further. It was Lucien that showed him true potential; unlocked the path to immortality. It was Lilliana that too late did he realise he needed, however.

Necromancy, that is where he truly excelled. That was his element for half a century, even with his wife and son gone, his body shattered and reformed to Hiishtgul, he was safe in the knowledge that the duties of his coven could grant him 'completion' - or so he had hoped. In that moment, as Naruntah went to justify his efforts and the pain went away, Edward Thatch felt truly empty.

Rage, hatred, confusion. A cocktail of discomforts drove his final act: A desperate attempt to undo what the Gravelord had done, the wild 'tooth and claw' moment at the end that nature turns a blind eye to. That is the best way to explain Edward's attempt to smash the Nexus. Naruntah's warnings fell on death ears as the Wraith's evoked earth flew at it, shattering instantly with little sign of damage to his target. Shrieks echoed about the cave and fear became apparent in all parties present.

His mind raced as the horrors of the Nexus spat forth from his catalyst and smoke danced about the room to claw at its intruders. He made another strike, this time via some clumbsy Arcane, though never learnt what damage his second blow had caused, attention diverted to the aurum tipped spear now protruding from his chest.
"You've doomed yourself." Came the hiss of Ghamul from behind Edward as he fell to his ashen knees. At this moment, as he looked back up to the chaos he had drawn out of the ancient relic, a revelation came to the broken Wraith:
"We're all doomed from the start."

The man that was born Edward Thatch, rebirthed in unlife to be called 'Avos', a harbinger of destruction, 'died'... For the final time. The fragmented soul that made up his form erupted and plumed in place. He knew what seven skies might've been wouldn't accept him, he knew that this time he would not awaken in the arms of some kind Voidal Horror or as a Lich in the depths of a dark stronghold as his mental force was yanked into the hellish depths of the Black Nexus. He knew this was the end and as the familiar embrace of death he had dodged so many times before washed over his remnant corporeality, he saw only darkness before him.

"My." Mutters a hooded figure. "I already miss him..." the lich sighs, walking off, probably never knowing who his master really was.

((RIP AVOS))

Tempest, or Brann for some... A ghoul created by Edward... Or Avos as he knew... The ghoul wandered without a master... It asked itself... "WwwwHHyyyy?" as it aimlessly wandered. Head in the clouds, body decaying... Tempest was determined to die... Once and for all, wishing to meet his master again, wherever he was...

"Well Ghamul, Avos hath taught me one thing, that when a man has nothing to lose he might try tear the world asunder as he falls; I shant let that happen again."

Orsûl silently mourns within the Abyss at the news of his 'Brother's' fate, swaying his cowl as the wraith shifts its glance to Mordrings gate before proceeding to drift forward and through it. He was the last of the wraiths sired by Serthek for the time being.

"I learned one thing. Never trust a Lich or a Ghoul."  Ghamul mutters towards Naruntah.

The sordid remains of Revion Tathron walk with a spring in their step for a long while afterward.

I learned this long ago an ashen figure thought from far away placing a coconut named Keith at the shrine of his old friend shedding an ashen tear "You will be missed, a brother and friend, I will not let your death be in vain."

On one of the many roads in the forests of the Mali'ame, a shrouded man, draped in the tattered remains of a dirty cloak, a cloak which bore the stains of blood and various other substances, stopped in his tracks  as a wave of discomfort rolled through his cold, pale, and scarred fleshy remains. The disturbance forcing him take a moment and gather himself, the horns of his helm tented the hood atop his head as it is hung in a deep, yet sudden lack of purpose. "Maker..." the traveler growls from behind his face-plate in his ragged voice, before falling to his knees in the path, and violently lashing out at the packed soil, pounding his leather clad fist into the earth over and over. Minutes pass and the strange man ceases his hostilities against the dirt, his breathing labored, shoulders rising and falling as his chest heaved. "I will make you proud, Master... You will have blood..." the Morghuul swears to himself, and to his closest friend, his slain Master... before rising to his feet, shambling off to begin his rampage no longer as 'Gornas' but dawning a new name and a new purpose, to make his master proud...

The Horseless Headsman will have his toll.
