[A letter is sent to every possible resident within Bastion.]

After the siege of Quarryville, King Caius I has appointed me as the taskmaster against the Feral Dead of the Wastelands and the tainted forces of Mordring. I have battled the dead for many years now, hence why I ventured here to the West, to offer my assistance and hopefully guide the Army of the Westerlands to finally triumph over the creatures of the dark.

We are not yet able to strike our enemy in their own lands, when the land around Bastion itself is not secure. To do so would surely seal our fate, and allow the Undead threat to quickly spread across the realm. We must retake Quarryville and prepare for the journey into the Wastelands first. That is our first goal.

To lend a hand and help, please come and visit me. I’ve plenty of tasks that need completing. I am currently situated in the tent camp outside the city.

Quest Board - Bastion

Feeding The People (MANDATORY QUEST)

As expected, we’ll need plenty of food and secure supply lines to venture out from the city. Head out into the fields to clear them up after those attacks and try gather up whatever edible scraps you can get. A fed soldier’s an effective soldier, after all.

Rewards:

  • Westerland held land does not suffer starvation, allowing soldiers to be more effective. This results in less frequent Feral Undead attacks on Westerland held land.

Eyes On (MANDATORY QUEST)

I don’t think we can take another attack like that last one, unprepared that is. Get up on the outer wall and patrol the forests outside the city. Hopefully that should give us a bit of warning for when they next come riding in.

Rewards:

  • Feral undead attacks occur less frequently and a 15 minute warning is given before the attack.

Know your enemy (SIDE QUEST)

I’d really like to get a look at some of those Feral Undead - it seems that Mordring hasn’t managed to get them under control, which is strange. If you could, try capture one of those riders or their mount, and bring them to me relatively unharmed. I’ll take a look at them.

Rewards:

  • Acquisition of information on ‘Rider’ class Feral Undead, allowing for further RP opportunities and an easier timer fighting them.

Retake Quarryville (STORY QUEST)

We can’t leave the city when who knows what is pouring forth from that blasted mark outside - the forces coming from it seem to be of Mordring, meaning we are fighting two different enemies here. Once ready, I say we storm it and throw whatever we’ve got at it. Take arms, soldier.

Requirements:

  • Feeding The People must be completed 7 times.

  • Eyes On must be completed 5 times, three of which must have been successful.

Rewards:

  • Quarryville’s Mark of Mordring is removed.

  • The Westerlands move on to set up a camp at the ruins near Mordring’s bridge.

  • Zone 1: The Hanging Evergreen is unlocked.

OOC: All these tasks are events that you can schedule with me throughout the week(and maybe some more). I'll get an ET to act them out with you or do it myself. To start one, come and find me IC in the tent camp outside Bastion.

In the deep quiet of his dimly lit home in Bastion, Braehn lurches over in a cheap wooden chair and begins sharpening his Nivinese Bowie Knife, Varmir's Toothpick. This long blade has seen him through every scrape and siege against the spooks since he made the move Westward, and he begins to ponder just how many more days he has in this fight. A youth by Adunian standards, not many could guess his true age. Nor would many care to try, his presence in the Kingdom being a sore spot for most folk. Regardless, sixty-seven years of fighting on this earth and the last one have not been kind to him.

"I'm so tired." He states under his breath as the blades' edge now starts to take proper form once again. With every stroke against the whetstone, the thoughts of uncertainty and doubt begin taking a hold of him and wrap around him. The painful memories of the friends lost in the sacking of the caravan, the failure of Avar and his people as a boy, the death of Aliana. The knife slips and he cuts his palm, his distractions getting the better of him once again.

"Vlaagt!" He howls is pain, hurling the stone against the wall. As he goes to wash out the wound a sharp rapping is heard against his door, a young boy raising his voice on the other end.

"Sheriff, I've got a letter for you." Gritting his teeth in pain, Braehn stands up and goes to the door. Pulling it open, he offers a small rather insincere smile to the boy before taking the letter.

"Many thanks Billy, say hello to your parents for me." He says, before retreating inside. As the door closes behind him he unfurls the scroll and begins to read, trying his best to ignore the small stream of blood now pooling on the parchment. He nods a few times to himself as he reads, before grabbing Varmir's Toothpick from the ground with his right hand.

"Good enough for now." He says before sheathing the blade. Setting the now scarlet stained parchment on the table, he opens the door and sets out into town to go find Roland.

The peasants fears are heard, as Roland's leadership led to the death of their king and heir.
