A drawing Ser Bruce Hornigold during the battle of the golden-fields, 1595 of Malin's Smile.

The mounted Mardenic marshal would gallop forth at great speeds towards the scene. The King of Courland, Tobias Staunton, would be seen on both knees, his head drooped down in seeming defeat, in front of him laying the mangled corpse of a decapitated holy Lothranian knight. Arthur Jrent, the Marshal, would fall off his horse hitting the road with a brutal thud before crawling and stumbling towards the headless man in vicious panic. His jaw would be gaped open as the words from the kneeling King would be choked out:

"We are too late. . . He's--. . . He's gone."

Jrent's mouth would suddenly slam shut in a grinding grit, the man filled with rage as he ruthlessly bashed his fist onto the dirt beneath him in an repeated offence, no second-thought for his own well-being as his hand was soon a bloodied mess. The two would then afterwards slowly stand and face each other, the Marshal's grey-eyes and the King's blue locking in a serious duel as both today had lost a common friend. They'd suddenly as if driven by instinct embrace each other, as behind them two massive armies marched forth one waving Courlandic colors and the other Mardenic. The soldiers from both sides watched in surprise at first, before at the lead of their officers turning and embracing one another from adjacent armies.

. . .

On the 11th of the Sun's Smile, 1607, the Sun had truly smiled on the isles of Axios. A decade of constant war had finally come to the end, but at the cost of a great man, Ser Bruce Hornigold. Bruce Hornigold throughout his life was the only common friend shared by all in a world where hate was the norm. He strove for peace and preached the end of bloodshed during times when conflict was the only apparent resolve. Even during the Kingdom of Lorraine-Savoy's darkest hour, when loyalty for royalty was lost, Hornigold stood a torch bright and served to his very last breath. Because of Ser Bruce Hornigold;

Madness, has, had, it's, day.

"They will pay for killing Bruce." shouts Tobias. "Madness has had its day!"

"We've might of fought against each other before, but I have to say only one thing to you and that is welcome my friend."
