I.Function

The Anguine legion serves and owes it’s allegiance to House Roswell, for which it serves as it’s armed wing, being both a levy and a standing professional force. It serves as both a defensive and offensive force to aid in the protection of the Kingdom of Courland and the protection of Roswellian lands. It’s goal is to stand as a shining and exemplary professional military force, valuing the basic militaristic principals of  Dicipline, Honor and Loyalty.

 

 

Due to the recent events and the fall of the Westerlands, the Anguine has been dedicated to serve as a monster hunting organization to rid the world of the pests, ghouls and other creatures of evil that stalks the isle of Tahn. The recent fall of Bastion has proven that men must now work together to counter the larger threat that looms over every man, woman and child that live and will come to live.

II. History

 

The Legion has it’s roots in the old levies of  House Roswell of Pompurelia and Aurelia, guardforce of Hassheld and the former armies of the Imperial Legion and Pasnia. The foundations to the force was laid on the isle of Hassheld during the leadership of Viscount William Roswell, who created a small and proud force to protect the isle from Orcish raiders, making it highly mobile through the use of cavalry to move the men around quickly.

 

The militaristic ambition would later carry on to Viscount Williams son Patrek, whom served both in the Imperial legion then later as it’s direct adversary during Tobias Rebellion, becoming the Hetman and later Duke of Pasnia, implementing the usage and heavy favouring of both heavy Infantry and Cavalry, putting little emphasis on archery opting for a heavier shock force.

The current center of all operations is within the County of Istria and its respective barracks, situated within the castle.

Anguinatus -

 

The commander of the Anguine Legion, serving as it’s own head only accountable to the King of Courland and the Count of Istria.

 

Formally referred to as the “Anguinatus” but casually referred to as ‘General’

 




 

Aguintus -

 

Aid in forming the Generals council, consisting of the Aguinatus himself along with three Aguintus who aid in forming strategies and large scale planning.

 

They also carry the responsibility of managing the day-to-day business of the legionn



 



 

Hussar -

 

Are the assistants of the Aguintus and drill-masters of the legion and are responsible for strict discipline being kept at all times within the legion through the help of the Sergeants.



 



 

Sergeant -

 

Sergeants consist of some of the most experienced men in the legion, who have shown great skill in combat and managing skills,  on their way on advancing further in the legion, they are responsible for outfitting the  Legion and maintain proper etiquette and protocol.


 




 

Korporal-

 

Korporals serve as the general assistants of the Sergeants and are charged with carrying out the punishments decided by the officers.

 

Private-

 

Privates are the newly initiated members of the Anguine Legion

 

Recruit-

 

A new, uninitiated member of the Legion who has yet to prove himself during training.








 

 

 

V.  Divisions

 

The Anguine Legion is divided simply into three separate divisions, each headed by a Hussar who each are responsible to perform their respective duties and purpose to the letter.

 

i.  

     Heavy Infantry - The Anguine Spear

 

The Anguine heavy infantry are the bulk of the main force of the Legion, forming the frontline and main rank and file of the army.  Can sometimes be mounted for greater speed during battle and used as secondary cavalry behind the main Istricus.

 

Peacetime; They guard the County of Istria and maintain law and order, garrisoning the castle, along with protecting the duke and House Roswell.

 

ii.

 

Heavy Cavalry - Istricus

 

The Cavalry of the Legion is the main shockforce utilizing hit and run attacks and flanking maneuvers to get the upper hand.

 

Peacetime; They are charged with patrolling and maintaining the borders of the county to ensure the safety of merchants and travellers alike.

 

iii.

 

Auxilliaries - Gods Hand

 

The friends and allies of House Roswell forming the loose skirmishers who protect the flanks with guerilla tactics.

No peacetime usage.

 

VI. Traditions & Trials

 

Trial of the Cape-

 

Three members on the legion set out alone into the wild to hunt a polarbear to kill it. Upon the successful slaughter of the beast they must bring back an urn of it’s blood and it’s pelt, the blood is then mixed with flour and sugar to form a patty which is them fried and consumed by the trio, upon completion of the ritual to “absord” the beasts strength and wisdom they may start making their cape out of the animals hide.

 

Saint’s weekly Tournaments-

 

The traditional tournament to discover the greatest warriors and soldiers within the legion, where both officers and rank and file members may join together and bash each other for the glory and fun of it.

 

Trial of the Ghoul-

 

The act of slaying a  ghoul by any means and extracting its skull to be hung upon the wall in the barracks to forever remind the members of the legions of its victories.
