Vindicant 642 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Spoiler Thump. Thump. Thump. The sounds of a heartbeat. How you tend to miss them when you can't hear them anymore. In the cold north, away from those you love and care about. But he hears the thrum and hum in his ears. The rushing of blood and the proof you are alive, a feeling that Karyssmov knows too well, far too well. Dawn rises over the city. He gazes down to his leather gloves, of the outfit he wore so long ago, and he thinks on his past. He gazes out over the city after his return, atop the palace. But it wasn't that long an absence anyway. Everything just happens at once; one doesn't have time to react properly to the events that occured. Not that he had any excuse. He wasn't perfect, he knew it. He looks back at the bedroom behind him, seeing Lilyana sleep peacefully. Far more peacefully than he had. He looks behind him, and sees his sins. He sees the encroaching dark, but he turns his head. -*- If you don't see it, it isn't there. Such were the thoughts of the young Cleric, and his misguided judgement. He gazes back down at his gloves, and he clenches his fist...and then releases it. A sigh is heard. The sound of boots upon stone floor. The crackle of a fireplace he has gazed into many-a-time. He leans over Lilyana, and places a small kiss on her cheek. He loves her. That much is obvious. She is dear to him; why would he not? She is the one who took him back when he did not deserve it. After his harsh words. His mother. That's who she is. He can't run from that, no matter what. Even after all he said and did, and the actions he took...even as he left and cursed her name, she still said she was his mother. How could he say no? He was weak comparatively. One to be manipulated and bent to will, unknowing even to himself when it happens. No one was in the wrong. Each had their reasons, but all was done out of love. He loves, yes. That is his crime. Least, that's what he convinces himself of. It works, for now. The scent of basil fills the room, replacing what had lingered so long ago. -*- He treks back to his other home, away from those who do not know of his return. He shrouds his face, not that people look. Fire hasn't died out yet; he knows that. He's not a scholar, never pretended to be one, but he understands what comes. He heard the confused shrieks as he left the city, in the guise of a knight errant. No one even knew. Only later was his absence noted. People asking for a healer, only to find that he wasn't there. He feels a bit sorry for Gray. Poor sod, had to heal people for a day. Just like him! He snorts a tad, a faint smirk rising to him as he shakes his head. A bit of humour after the days events. Nothing wrong with that, right? It's okay to find some humour in 'defeat'. He reflects and wonders, the sound of the horse's hooves clacking upon the stone streets below. He'd be back, he always was anyway. This isn't the first time. Hopefully though, it was the last. He was done running. He casts his eyes back to Sutica, and then back to the road in front of him. -*- The thumps of the road are something he is used to. Flecks of white land in his black mess of hair, with the usual strand in front of his face set correct by a loving mother. He doesn't fix it, doesn't make it messy as usual. He doesn't make a snide smirk, nor a jest of her fussing over him. He simply lets it be. He ties the horse to the post outside, and stretches from the journey. He walks upstairs, and sees her. He offers her a weary smile and nod, knowing she doesn't sleep anyway. She smiles back. She missed him. He knows. He sits down, tired from the journey and the acts of forgiveness. Arms wrap around his back, and his breathing evens out. He wishes folk can just get along. He makes it quite vocal that those are his wishes, but it's how it is. He's getting there. At least, he hopes so. He heaves out a quiet sigh as he once more falls into the torpor of sleep, a silent watcher making sure he is safe. She messes with his hair, sets it straight. Not too dissimilar from her counterpart. Two sides, same coin. Both love him. One of them just so happens to leech his body heat when he goes to sleep. -*- Thump. Thump. Thump. Thomas 3014 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Crumena sat back in his deckchair, watching his favourite drama: Keeping up with the Suticans. "What a load of idiots." he remarked as he chomped down on his popcorn.

SeventhCircle 460 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Alem'shun pauses only briefly in the middle of the night from his deep chant of prayers in the temple giving the wayward child of his dearest friend one brief prayer of his own before returning to his pentance.
