Aether-Wave Pirates

595fad9c69b21_Aether-WaveFlag.png.15acc73e1b038572cae32b991e3e6821.png

Tasius lay quietly beneath the night sky. The stars were bright, and offered plenty of light to see by, even if both Secunda and Masser were in their waning phases.

Ko’Khatherra sat beside him, studying the two moons with large eyes. “The moon is bright tonight, is it not, Ri’Tasius?”

Tasius sighs. “Must everyone call me that? I’m a damned pirate, not a king.”

Ko’Khatherra lets out a low purr of laughter. “Pirate you may be raised as, but king you’ve been for far longer.”

Tasius sighs, and sits up. “What do you need, Ko’Khatherra? You rarely call on me for social visits anymore.”

Ko’Khatherra stretches. “This one has been studying the stars for some years, Ri’Tasius. You know this.”

Tasius waves his hand in dismissal. “Yeah, yeah. Most of your life, since you were a kit. This is new how?”

Ko’Khatherra pulls her eyes from the sky, to look at Tasius. “As this one has said, you have been king for nineteen years now, Ri’Tasius. In that time, you have learned at least some of Khajiiti culture, have you not?”

Tasius nods slowly. “I have. Is there something of cultural importance that I should know about?”

Ko’Khatherra nods, studying the stars once more. “Indeed, Ri’Tasius. You know of the Mane, yes? The one who leads the whole of Elsweyr, when united? The conditions for its birth as well?”

Tasius nods in confusion. “Of course I know about the Mane. The alignment of the three moons, right? There’s supposed to only be one at a time, correct?”

Ko’Khatherra shuts her eyes, and breathes deeply. “In the times before the World Shatter, that would not be wrong. Now, the flow of everything is wavering, changing. The mane is supposed to be Khajiit as well.” Ko’Khatherra opens her eyes, and looks to Tasius once more. “Except here before me stands a man of Imperial blood, leading Senchal. A man born the same day as our Mane should be born.”

Tasius recoils from Ko’Khatherra. “Are you trying to say I’m the Mane? You just said it yourself, only Khajiit can be Mane.”

Ko’Khatherra leans in. “In the times before the World Shatter, that is perfectly true, Ri’Tasius, but with the flow of the world out of control, this one believes anything be possible. Simply consider it, Ri’Tasius.” Ko’Khatherra stands, and pads back into the Tenmar forest, without another word.

Tasius sits, and studies his hands for several minutes. His imagination runs wild, and furs rolls over his skin, claws sprouting from his fingers. He blinks, and the image is gone. He shakes his head, and stands, ready to sleep.

(2 AP) Using the corundum and iron collected from the mines, the army is to be upgraded to steel weapons and armor.

(2 AP) A magic academy is built on the edge of Senchal, to gives the mages the capacity to study and train in peace. Ko’Khatherra and Tasius both oversee the operations of the Academy, though neither live at the Academy. The Academy should come with dorms for the mages, as expansive a library as can be gathered, and a training area. Future projects would add additional structures to the Academy.

The Golden Dominion

Locations: Alinor

Population: 9000

Military: 1000

The city walls are finally back to their old glory. Fully repaired, and ready to defend the city, should it come under attack.

Hegathe

Locations: Hegathe

Population: 7500

Military: 1500

The process of rounding up camels is a long, arduous one, but after a while, a fair managed have been captured, and domesticated.

More work goes into the college. Now, as opposed to a wooden building composed of a couple of rooms, there are now enough rooms to designate each one a purpose. A library, training room, and a couple small classrooms are added to the college.

Khalastine

Locations: Skaven

Population: 6700

Military: 500

People are sent to Rihad, Dragonstar, and Skaven, and report as follows

Rihad: Rihad is ruled by King Nisib Saorgba, a Redguard. He seems to do his best to care for his people, but Rihad seems cursed, due to a string of horrid luck. Their military is not especially large, or well equipped. It’s little more than a defensive force for the capital.

Dragonstar: Dragonstar is ruled by High Chief Urbuil Gastub, an Orsimer. He seems to genuinely care for the Orsimer (as well as any who’ve earned the right of Blood Kin), but anyone else is treated as a lesser citizen. By no means are the other races abused, but Orsimer and Blood Kin are treated as betters.

Elinhir: The people sent to Elinhir fail to report in.

Al-Sham

Their military is rather large, and fairly strong, but they don’t seem to be using it for much more than defending their borders.

Skaven: The person sent to Skaven fails to ever report in.

Crescent Empire

Locations: Imperial City

Population: 9725

Military: 1400

The Crescent Empire receives a message from King Ukaweek Kaygulus.

Prince Amantius, your naval ships have trespassed into our waters, and assaulted my people. That decision will cost you your so-called “Empire”. Your declaration of war is clear, and my people will meet your challenge with relish. Let us see what your Imperial dogs can do when faced with my warriors.

King Ukaweek Kaygulus

Jerallian High Chiefdom

Locations: Bruma

Population: 6850

Military: 1000

The gates are rebuilt on the Bruman side of the Pale Pass.

When the blacksmiths receive the order for the silver armor, they laugh at first. When they realize the order is serious, they set about the order with obvious distaste. Towards the end of Mid Year, they finish the order for the decorative Silver Armor for every soldier. It is decided that this may be one of the most expensive projects in Bruman history.

The scouts report having discovered an old Shrine to Namira, in relative disrepair.

County of Evermor

Locations: Evermor

Population: 9800

Military: 1250

Better tools are built for the farms, which does lessen the need for people for that, slightly.

Most of the major holes in the walls are now properly repaired, and the wall is nearly at it’s previous glory.

As the agent travels through Markarth, he learn that due to the mountains between High Rock and Skyrim, the only real way between the two lands, without also passing through Hammerfell, is the path he took. Once in Solitude, he discovers that Jehenna and Farrun have also closed off all access via sea as well.

Aether-Wave Pirates

Locations: Senchal

Population: 7500

Military: 1000

The army is outfitted with Steel weapons and armor.

The Magic Academy is built, with the general specifications that were given. It comes complete with a fairly decent library (Better than a bookstore’s selection, but worse than any pre-World Shatter academy), underground training grounds where mages can practice without damaging anything important, and dorms that are more comfortable than sleeping on the ground.

Word is received from the Agents sent to Soul Rest. They have arrived, and await further orders.

Ivydale Monarchy

Locations: Haven

Population: 5850

Military: 500

Scouts sent to search the county report the discovery of one Ayleid ruin that was not previously marked on any map.

Aether-Wave Pirates

595fad9c69b21_Aether-WaveFlag.png.15acc73e1b038572cae32b991e3e6821.png

Tasius sits on his veranda, drinking his… something. He can’t remember what Ra’Bhidar called it, but he liked it.

A Senche messenger races past the veranda, and slides to a stop, before pacing over to the edge of the veranda. Reaching into a pack slung across his side, he pulls out a letter, and gives it to Tasius. Tasius drops some gold into the Senche’s coin pouch, and takes the letter. The Senche then runs off, with more messages to deliver.

Unfurling the letter, Tasius grins as he realized it’s from his agents at Soul Rest.

Dear Cousin J’Nji,

We have arrived in Soul Rest safely. Thankfully those pirates didn’t bother our ship. When you next send a letter, make sure to include a list of gifts you’d like. I’ll do my best to deliver. Soul Rest is surprisingly quiet, despite the number of people here. Even with it’s proximity to the ocean, the sound of the waves is so far off. It’s incredible, cousin. Well, I need to go; I’ll check for messages every day, so write whenever you need.

With Love, Daro’Mla

Tasius rolled up the letter, and slipped it into his pocket, downed the last of his drink. As he set his glass down, he remembered the name; Jahb’dan.

He sent a messenger after Bolonar, and made his way to the Omen Hawk, where Ra’Bhidar should be.

Stepping up on the deck, he saw Ra’Bhidar ordering people about as they checked the ship.

Tasious called out to him, and pointed to the Captain’s Quarters. They both made their way inside, and waited for Bolonar. After a few more minutes the orc showed up too. “Tasius, this better be important; I was just about to win free drinks for a week.”

Tasius holds up the letter from the agent. “I’ve just received this from our agents in Soulrest. They’ve arrived safely and are ready to start when we are.”

Bolonar and Ra’Bhidar grin, and Ra’Bhidar speaks. “So, what’s next then, oh great Pirate-King?”

Tasius grins, and the three get to work laying out proper plans.

---------------------------------

After several hours of work, Tasius, Ra'Bhidar, and Bolonar stand over their plans, and a new, encoded letter.

Dear Daro'Mla

I'm so glad you made it safely. I would love it if you could find out about Soulrest for me. Tourist locations, history, as much as you can. I want to know everything you can tell me. Also, dad keeps asking me to tell you to send something alcoholic. He's always wanted to try some Argonian alcohol. They say it has almost as much kick as skooma. No way that's true, right?

Anyways, as for me, I don't really know enough about Soulrest to say what you could send for a souvenir. I guess just keep an eye out for anything interesting. Anyways, don't forget to learn about Soulrest's popular locations, and history for me.

- Love J'Nji

Studying the letter, the three nod to each other, and send for a messenger to have the letter sent to Soulrest.

Crescent Empire

With the official declaration of war, Imperial City is spurred into action. The letter to Prince Amantius is published. Citizens fill the street, calling for war. The Legionnaires are greeted as heroes city wide. The needed supplies, wagons, and other logistic issues have been settled. The Imperial army will be well equipped and supplied for this excursion. Prince Amantius himself will head the army, the matter quite personal. The Empire would not be seen as weak. They were strong, rich, and cultured. These Argonians are merely carrion birds. They pick at the bones of a once great Empire. And thankfully the Empire does not fight alone...

General Baznog and his coterie is personally greeted. Prince Amantius and his own general Hjalmer meet them at the gates. Imperial citizens (some orcs too) fill the streets, cheering. The orcs may be reluctant, and it was noticeable. But the citizenry perceived them as a grand ally. These orcs came, regardless of how or why, they came. They will fight and die alongside the Legion. And that is enough. Baznog is given a days rest, but than apologized too.

--

The apology is for a lack of rest. For the Empire is already on the move. They would not sit back and wait, an advance is planned. The orcs will be happy however, for they play an important role. Baznog and his three hundred will go first. Accompanied by Imperial cavalry, they head south. The Imperial Legion is close behind, led by Amantius. The orcs job would be to screen the advance alongside the cavalry. it is hoped they will pick out any scouts before they can report. As they get near Bravil, the plan changes.

Baznog soon begins to find fighting with the Crescent Empire isn't all that bad. He and his orcs are given full permission to plunder. They begin to burn and pillage their way towards Bravil. The Imperial Army (hopefully their position unknown from the advance screen) will lay in wait. It is hoped the Bravil army will ride out to meet what they perceive to be an advance element of raiders. Little do they hopefully know an entire army has already set out from Imperial City by land. The orcs will retreat, leading the army into the Legion's ambush.

If the Argonians are content to remain in their city, the plan alters. The orcs and cavalry will roam the countryside as quickly as possible. They will deny the city a harvest, burning or swaying the peasants to their cause. It is hoped the largely human farmers would flock to the Empire after their unfair treatment under Bravil. The orcs are told to show restraint if a village shows promise of joining.

The city will be encircled by land if the ambush fails, or the Argonians fail to sally out in any fashion.

The navy will wait for the rest of their warships to be built. Three are now in the waters, guarding Imperial City. A city militia is formed, and led by General Hjalmer who stays behind.

Meanwhile in the courtyard of the Military District, One thousand Altmer and Bosmer soldiers stand in a rough formation.

Queen Aerduin would be walking along the many wooden roads that circle the great tree connecting all the people and providing enough opportunities for Aerduin to get to know some of her people. In her opinion they were doing very well for themselves, The tree hasnt started moving and causing a big commotion in the populace and her scouts report an Ayleid Ruin that was never documented yet. The mines - while not finding much different ores was mostly pumping out the needed minerals to supply everyone with needed tools.

While the market place has brought up some concern Aerduin agree’s and so the market will basically have just stalls and wagons all organized and monitored. The mine continues to be expanded and grown to pump out more supplies/ores for the people of her city. Next the walls are starting to be repaired, while the large dense forest itself might be enough to ward off any large scale invasion it would still be nice to have some nice big walls between the people and the outside world. Finally small groups of scouts are sent off towards the direction of South point and the Elden root to check up on their current status.

"What in Malacath's name were you thinking, Mazat?! Silver armor, really?" Chief Lurbug was shaking his head slowly in his hands as the High Chieftain entered the room. "High Chieftain, I was under the impression that you intended to use that SIlver for the trade deal with the Empire, not blow it on some shiny armor!"

Mazat walked to his chair, sitting himself down and letting out a sigh. "I will admit there was a small... miscommunication with the blacksmiths. However, what's done is done and we can't simply take this armor away from our soldiers after just making it for them. For now we can only take this as a blessing in disguise. Surely an army of warriors outfitted in gleaming silver armor will give our Legion an aura of intimidation, no?" Mazat grunts, taking a gulp of the contents in his mug. "Have we enough silver to stay true to our trade arrangement?"

"Aye... if what I hear is true then we have a little less than a year before we run out of ore. We will no doubt have to expand our mining operations to supply the demand, and fast."

The High Chieftain rose from his seat, mug in hand. "Alright, then that is what we will do. Pool all remaining resources into expanding the silver operations. The Chiefdom isn't going down because of some petty economic scrib jelly." Before exiting the room, Mazat stops in his tracks and looks back at Lurbug. "I don't care what you have to do to fix this problem, but I need it done."

Chiefdom Edicts:

3 AP: Expansion of the silver mine after the copious amounts of silver used in the construction of the Silver Legion's armor.

1 AP: Defilement of the Shrine to Namira.

Hegathe

At one of the garrisoned spots along the Hegathe/Sentinel border, a few troops looked out across the border from their post.

“You know,” chimed in one soldier, “I really wish we knew what was going on over there. I don’t mind be stationed here and all, but I just wish we knew what to expect.”

The other soldier nodded in agreement, “I know. We have no way of knowing whether they are assembling an army against us or just have a few guards in place.”

Meanwhile, in the capital, a group of approximately 102 men and many more camels were preparing for a journey across the desert to sneak one lone man into Sentinel. The mission was of the highest priority, so among so men in this convoy were men 40 men trained in fighting melee on horseback, another 50 trained in archery on horseback, and ten which served as guides through the desert. Although camels were different, everyone was sure they could manage well enough. On top of that there was a Reguard by the name of Falion, the leading mage in Hegathe in the school of restoration. He would ride along to heal any that were injured or provide healing if the group were to be attacked along the way. Finally, came the spy. His goals were simple, find out what the population and military might of Sentinel is, and anything else that may be of use. The caravan would follow the path on an old map in order to outmaneuver the mountains and harsh terrain which they presumed Sentinel would rely on as a natural barrier. Above all else, it was vital that the spy remember one thing if he got caught. If he got captured, he would not reveal where he came from, but he would simply tell his captors that failure to release him would lead to harsh consequences. The caravan would return in a few months after drop off to recollect him with the information he had gathered.

Finally, in the harbors of Hegathe, a lone diplomat stood with a small handful of a dozen guards around him. He watched as the masts of the trade ships coming from Daggerfall slowly made their way up and up on the horizon as more of the ships came into view. He had a simple mission, which was to try and get Daggerfall to open up to more negotiations and diplomacy.

AP:

2 AP Hegathe is going to lead an expedition through the desert to sneak a spy into Sentinel. In order to do this, they’re going to try and avoid the mountains. The plan is for the group to come back after 2 months and collect any information the agent has gathered on Sentinel.

1 AP Hegathe is sending an spy into sentinel to gather information on the situation in Sentinel in regards mainly to its population and military.

1 AP Hegathe is going to send a diplomat into Daggerfall to try and open up a greater diplomatic ties than simply a trade deal.

Other stroked his beard thinking about the news he had recently gotten.

It seemed that only the province to the North had been blocked off so he at least knew that it was at the very least under one leader.

This could be a possibility though one he would definitely not like and the lack of information bothered Uther more than he could say.

He had a faction or factions that he did not know about right at his northern border without any information on them.

Well Uther thought if you can't simply get the information you need then you could always still brute force your way through.

He then started to write on some papers and then sent messengers orders to deliver them.

The expedition goes well, with no real inconveniences, beyond the occasional heat stroke. Falion keeps everyone working at there best, and they make it to the drop-off before long. The spy begins his attempts to enter Sentinel.

Two months later, the caravan returns to collect the spy, and he reports failure to enter Sentinel. The areas the spy attempted to infiltrate from were well guarded, and he was unable to access Sentinel. It would appear that Sentinel is not accessible this way, either.

The diplomat is sent to Daggerfell in an attempt to gain more than a simple trade deal. (You already know the results of this)

The plans seems to work at first. The advance group sees an army several hundred strong rushing out to meet them. When they turn to flee however, they see that their escape has been cut off. Somehow, a portion of the Bravilian Army has managed to get behind them. To the south, several hundred soldiers charge them. To the north a few hundred make a barrier they can’t push through in time. To the east lies the Upper Niben, and to the west lies the border into Riverhold.

With no real choice, the Orsimer and Cavalry charge the smaller force, in the hopes of breaking through in time to escape the main enemy army. A problem arises quickly. The cavalry, on their horses, are far faster than the Orsimer are on foot. Because of this, the cavalry reaches the Bravilian army several minutes before the Orsimer, and are forced to fight the 300 - 400 soldiers alone. By the time the Orsimer arrive to back them up, the cavalry has been reduced to a paltry 50 men. With the Orsimer’s superior fighting capabilities, the smaller Bravilian Force is split down the middle, and the remaining Cavalry and Orsimer manage to escape. In the end, two hundred orcs are still standing, and only fifty cavalry.

They reunite with the main army, and warn them of what happened. The army continues to march on, wary of ambushes now. They manage to make it to the city of Bravil, when a grave error is realized; To properly encircle the town, the Army would need to either circle the Larsius River and cross into Rimmen, or send a group of troops around the Niben River, through Leyawiin. They establish camp where they can observe Bravil, but remain out of range, while waiting for further orders. (-150 Military)

The Adepts return 5 Novices in tow. All of them are eager to learn. The Adepts report having discovered more, but none of the others accepted their invitations. Each of the 5 novices favors a different magic school.

The agents send a new letter, and a bottle of Argonian Ale.

Dear Cousin J’Nji

Pass along the ale to Uncle.

I did some digging, and found out a bunch about the History of Soulrest. Apparently, there was a Bandit named Red Bramman who caused a lot of trouble in the area, a long time ago. He used this river off the Topal Bay nearby to hide out. Cool, right?

I also found the Count Fiv’Dellir’s manor. It’s so big, you can’t miss it from anywhere in the city, and that’s a fact. It has a gold lined roof, so it sparkles really impressively during the day.

There’s also these massive catacombs spread below the entire city. It’s like a maze down there! You can pay for tours through some of the more intact areas. La’Kino got lost down there. If not for the guide, I doubt we’d have found her.

We also rented a boat, and explored the coast. There was this island just off the coast, and it the jungle was so thick, that we could barely see past the first couple rows of trees.

Oh, and Ji’Khamnja got an apprenticeship with the blacksmithing guild who makes most of the guards arms and armor. How cool is that?

I’m sorry I couldn’t find you a souvenir this time around, but next time for sure.

With Love, Daro’Mla

Work begins on the walls, though it more like growing the walls back into place, rather than actually fixing them. The walls are not perfect, but if nothing else, they keep people from falling from the trees.

Work continues on the mines, with no real results yet reported.

The scouts sent to Elden Root and Southpoint return. Both locations have people living there, with leaders.

Elden Root: Lady Tysse Thornbloom, a Bosmer

Southpoint: Lord Lakra Softstone, also a Bosmer

The soldiers sent to investigate the ruins descend into it carefully. They find nothing on the stairs, but soon entire into a large room, mostly filled with water. Just above the water’s edge is a stone bridge. As the soldiers cross it, and enter the room, a gate shuts behind them, sealing them in. Water slowly begins to rise in the room, until it covers their ankles.

The water stops rising, but the temperature in the room noticeably drops, and ice quickly creeps along the water, covering the soldiers ankles. The ice slowly creeps up the soldiers, and soon they are frozen from the waist down. Across the room, a small bluish crystal can be seen through a grate. All of the soldiers try and shoot the crystal. One of the them gets lucky, and just manages to shoot it, knocking it from it’s pedestal.

The ice stops spreading, and quickly melts. The water level sinks , until the entire room is drained. On the other side of the room, there is a staircase leading below. Heading down the stairs, the soldiers find more traps, and a few of the unluckier soldiers get killed. Finally, they make it to the bottom the staircase, and find a small, metal lockbox. Inside, is five small crystals, set on a velvet cushion.

The soldiers take the lockbox with them, and head back outside, avoiding the traps as they go. (-10 Military)

Aether-Wave Pirates

Tasius reads through the letter for a third time, making sure he absorbs ever scrap of information he can. With what he has, he just might be able to set up an actual attack plan.

He left his home, making his way to the Omen Hawk, where Ra’Bhidar and Bolonar were already waiting for him.

Entering the cabin of the ship, Bolonar and Ra’Bhidar look up from the map of Topal Bay set before them.

“I’m telling you furball, if we launch an assault from here, then we’ll just get caught in a choke point here.”

“And this one is telling you, green-skin, that if we have people lying in wait here, that we won’t have to worry about attacks in this region.”

“No, no, no. You’re clearly forgetting to think three dimensionally, fish-brain. If they climb these walls here, then they’ll be right on top of us.”

“And you forget to think at all, booze-breath. If they climb here, they’ll be perfectly set up to get shot from here.”

Tasius clears his throat. “There, uh, seems to be some hostility in the air today. You two okay?”

The two look up at Tasius in confusion. Bolonar speaks first. “Yeah, everything’s fine.” Ra’Bhidar explains. “These two are simply discussing battle plans.”

Tasius nods. “Right… Well, let’s keep it to friendly name calling. No need for us to start throwing punches.”

Tasius steps forwards, and spreads the letter open for both to see. “We heard from the agents again. Take a look at this.”

Bolonar and Ra’Bhidar lean in, and read through the letter quickly. Bolonar let’s out a low whistle. “Damn. That girl certainly is good at getting information.”

Ra’Bhidar grins. “It’s all in the tail. This one has never had someone resist the tail.” Ra’Bhidar’s tail flicks, as if to emphasize.

Tasius and Bolonar glance at one another, then burst out laughing. After a moment, Ra’Bhidar joins them.

Once they’ve all calmed down, Tasius pushes the letter to the side. “Right. Back to work. So, this island Daro’Mla found. I want to set something up here. Something special.”

Bolonar and Ra’Bhidar look at eachother in confusion. “Something special?”

Tasius grins. “Right. I want to set up a camp here. Not just yet, but by the end of the year. In the meantime, we’re going to put everything into preparing.”

Aerduin looks over the sort of new landscape, the tree had moved over the last half year - not that much but enough for you to notice the location is definitely different. Sighing softly she looks back down at her people as they continue to farm their wheat after replanting more as time passed, next she looks to the mine more than a little disgruntled about not finding anything new of late.

The marketplace like planned has gone along fairly smoothly - with the use of wagons and stalls it has been much easier to break down the marketplace and move with the tree setting up during period where it either slowed down or came to a halt, trading with the occasional merchant coming in through the forests looking for the moving tree of Haven. Meanwhile, the expedition into the old ruins has brought forth strange new things like the five small crystal. Soon Queen Aerduin would ask the limited amount of mages their people have to commence studying of these crystals trying to find out what they are at first and then what they can do. Next the two other countries like South point and the Elden root need to be met with and talks open up and so that happens.

1AP : Studying of the five small crystals is done in the temporary mages hall at the top of the tree.

1AP : Another group of scouts are sent out to South point and Elden root in an attempt to open up communications with the two of them.

1AP : Commencing the construction of a proper mage hall at the very top of the tree; a place where mages are welcomed to study magics and expand their knowledge - fire is strictly limited since..well...they’re in a big tree.

1AP : A new intense training regime is put into place working to train Haven’s troops into being at their peak performance and capable of working independently as the terrain does not allow a cohesive military group and so guerrilla like tactics are to be used.
