Aether-Wave Pirates

595fad9c69b21_Aether-WaveFlag.png.15acc73e1b038572cae32b991e3e6821.png

Tasius stood on the coast, studying the waves. Across the Topal Bay lay the island Daro’Mla had written about. Beyond that, the coast of Soulrest. Count Fiv’Dellir had made his stance very clear, and Senchal would not stand for it. If that was how it was going to be, Soulrest would fall to it’s knees, and beg for mercy.

Turning his back on the waves, Tasius made his way back to Senchal, passing through the forest, the branches above him occasionally shaking. Exiting the forest, he saw Sonya Frostheart, captain of the Broken Wolf. She was managing the efforts to establish a base on the island west of Soulrest, and would probably lead the attack too.

Tasius approached, calling her from behind. “Sonya. How goes the efforts?”

Sonya shouts out on last order to the workers loading supplies, and turns to face Tasius. “It’s going, Tasius. It’s going. The workers are slow, but I’ve dealt with slower, so I’m only complaining a little. The soldiers are dragging there feet too, but we’ll be ready. Those bastards in Soulrest won’t know what hit them. ‘Filthy Pirates’.” Sonya spits on the road. “If that damned Count had actually met with us, he’d find us quite reasonable, I bet.”

Tasius nodded. “It’s not like we had planned to take his county from him.” Tasius thinks for a moment. “Well, before the ‘Filthy Pirate’ thing, anyways.”

Sonya gives a hearty laugh only a Nord can give, and turns back to the workers. “I’ll be getting back to work, Tasius. Stop by the bar later. Bolonar and Ra’Bhidar are setting up a party for those leaving, and there paying.”

Tasius laughs. “Those two will be broke by nights end. See you later, Sonya.”

------------------------------------------------

Later, the bars are all bustling with the soldiers leaving for the island. Nearly every bar in town is full, and Tasius only manages to make it into one because of who is. Bolonar, Ra’Bhidar, Milhye, and Sonya are sitting at one of the larger tables, along with a few of the other members of the Aether-Wave crew.

Tasius weaves his way through the bar, and joins them. “So, seems the drinking started a while ago, hm?”

The table lets out a cheer when he sits down, and the drinking starts in earnest. Within a few hours, the entire table is flat-out drunk, and the bartender has them leave. Most make their way to their inns, but Tasius, Ra’Bhidar, and Sonya stumble around town a while longer.

“This was good, Tasius. Sonya’ll be gone for the next coupla months, and you needed to get drunk. You’ve been too focused on Soulrest, recently.”

Tasius laughs. “Yeah, I s’pose I have. I can’t help it. You know what challenges do to me.”

Sonya laughs. “Right, right, remember that time Tasius dove into the sea to wrestle a horker, just off the coast of Dawnstar? Nearly froze to death. Coulda been born a Nord, this one.”

Tasius grins. “But I won, didn’t I? That tusk made a great wine horn.”

The three of them stumble along, laughing the night away. The next day, they all woke with headaches that could’ve split a giant’s skull.

Actions

(2 AP) During the night, four of the new Warships travel across the Topal Bay, and land upon the island west of Soulrest’s coast. They are to push deep into the jungle on the island, and establish a camp, hidden within it. The Warships are to leave the island as soon as all soldiers and supplies have been unloaded, and return to Senchal.

400 Soldiers and 4 adepts, as well as the sailors manning the ships, are to be sent on the warships to establish the camp. Only the sailors are to return. They are to be informed of the plan (which will be in my next post, assuming nothing goes wrong) so they may perform their part.

The soldiers will need to avoid detection as much as possible until the plan begins. Lookouts should be established across the island, to keep an eye out for dangers to the plan, and other things.

(2 AP) Word is being sent to the agents in Soulrest to begin undermining guard efforts. Lower quality armor, and weapons, sabotage, poison, whatever was required, without giving themselves away. They are informed of this via encoded letter, from Cousin J’Nji.

Hegathe

“What?” Cartos exclaimed in rage. “You’re telling me that only a dozen guys without any weapons or armor managed to overwhelm dozens of our men with armor and weapons?”

The officer would only nod before speaking, “Yes sir, it appears their magic can manipulate the oceans, as well as render our troops utterly braindead and unable to correctly respond in situations that even a six-year-old could figure out.”

Cartos sighed, “Good gods… We cannot let this go unanswered.”

“So sir, shall we ready the men to attack their hideout?” asked the officer with an uneasy look on his face.

“Heavens no,” Cartos replied, “They’re expecting us to come to their base and we’ll get slaughtered. No, instead we’re going to do just what we’ve been doing, except this time we’re going to outsmart them.”

“Ok, and how do we do that?” asked the officer.

“Easy really,” admitted Cartos, “We storm their ship, they think we’ll make the same mistakes, then we slaughter them all.”

The officer’s eyes widened, “Slaughter them? After they’ve surrendered.”

“Yes,” Cartos stated gravely, “While it will indeed be tough and goes against everything we believe in, they slaughtered our men after they themselves surrendered. We will give them no quarter in return.”

“But sir, what if we did something else instead to ensure they didn’t escape?” suggested the officer.

“What might that be?” asked Cartos.

“Chain them all together,” stated the officer, “and then chain each man independently to the floor at the bottom of the ship. One sign of the same thing happening again, a mage uses one lightning spell on the chain, they all perish.”

Cartos thought over the plan and then slowly nodded, “Yes, agreed. Ensure that is done and get me back my ships.”

“Understood, sir.” the officer stated, “We will await your orders."

Military Plan:

Two of Hegathe’s supply ships will sail with 50 sailors on board each ship, 50 soldiers, and 2 mages. The two ships will sail together around the area the pirates are known to raid. The same strategy as before will be deployed where they are to appear as simple trade ships before soldiers spring out and demand the surrender of the other crew. Failure to do so shall report in their deaths. All members of the other crew are then to be taken, disarmed, and chained together with one long chain with shackles with each man then being independently chained to the bottom of the ship. One sign of mutiny or of the ocean attacking them, and one of the mages on board the ship will send a strong lightning spell out to kill all of them. Should the mages be occupied at another ship, soldiers will remain stationed down at the bottom and kill all the captives at the first sign of mutiny or the first sign the ocean may be attacking them.

At most in one trip the ships will take on 40 prisoners and capture 2 other ships. Any other pirates encountered will be executed unless they are for some reason of vital importance. Upon capturing the ships, the crews, military, and wizards will be divided as evenly as possibly among the current ships and sail back straight for Hegathe. Any other ships captured are to be left to drift.

AP:

3 AP Hegathe is going to continue to hunt down pirates around Daggerfall using the following plan.

1 AP Hegathe will be rebuilding the two trade ships they lost alongside any more military ships they are able to put produce.

Morning Star - Mid Year

United Solstheim Clan

Locations: Solstheim

Population: 4650

Military: 1450

Work begins on constructing a new ship.

So as to smelt the steel armor, a forge is constructed, and work begins on the steel armor.

Lord Snowfist reads the book, and it captivates him. After reading it three or four times, he recalls something he once read. Leaving the Deathbrand book, he finds a book on the history of Solstheim. Within the book he finds a specific entry.

“And it was during this time, in the Third Century of the Fourth Era that the Last Dragonborn, of strong heart and famous renown, battled Miraak in the Daedric Sphere of Apocrypha, wielding the Bloodskal Blade, and donning the Deathbrand Armor.”

The Golden Dominion

Locations: Alinor

Population: 9900

Military: 1000

The troops begin to train, and show relative improvements.

The Sanctuary begins construction, starting with the magical and physical defenses of the place.

Hegathe

Locations: Hegathe

Population: 8250

Military: 1460

The plans works excellently, at first. More pirates are captured alive this time. Nearly three dozen pirates are captured, and brought to Hegathe. The ocean devours their ships before they can be looted, however. The first time this happens, twenty men are swallowed with the ship. After that, the pirate ships are set aflame, from a distance, by archers or mages.

A shipyard is built, to replace the lost ships. However, too many resources were used to build the shipyard, and actual ships were not built.

Khalastine

Locations: Skaven

Population: 7400

Military: 2000

The diplomats and the escorts sent to Elinhir do not return.

The forge is finished, but no actual weapons or armor are made from it yet.

Al-Sham

Locations: Elinhir

Population: 9900

Military: 1000

The Khalastine diplomats, and their escorts leave Elinhir for Skaven.

King Nisib Saorgba sends a letter in return with your diplomat and escorts, and gladly takes the food, but send no escort of his own.

“To Sultan Ibraheem al-Assad, I thank you for your worry for my people, and appreciate your offers of alliance, but I must sadly decline. If I cannot lead my people through these dark times myself, and come out better for it, then I am in no position to lead. It is with kind words that I decline your offer of alliance, at this time. I will remember the kindness you showed, and should my nation ever be able to benefit yours, we will happily lend you our support, within reasonable limits. Though I decline offers of alliance at this time, I do not decline offers of friendship.

-King Nisib Saorgba

The ten guards sent to Falkreath return within a matter of months, and report.

Falkreath is under leadership of Bur-Deese Canisifon, an Argonian. The people seem to tolerate her, as she does her best for them, and seems to lead well, but as she is an Argonian, the people do not trust her.

Crescent Empire

Locations: Imperial City

Population: 9675

Military: 1350

Fortifications continue construction.

Supplies are transported to the army.

Mines begin beneath Bravils walls, but have yet to cause any real damage.

When they recieve the order, the navy is confused. “Bombard the city? With what?” And so began the stone assault of Bravil, with members of the navy throwing stones at the walls. The soldiers of Bravil just seem… confused.

Meanwhile, many soldiers end up requiring medical treatment, due to severe cramping. No deaths are recorded, but many soldiers are out of commission for a time. Bravil takes no real action, except launching arrows over the wall every few days.

Jerallian High Chiefdom

Locations: Bruma

Population: 7400

Military: 1400

The silver weapons and armor are melted down, but something goes wrong during the melting period, and much of the silver ingots had disgusting brown veins in it ruining their value.

The fifty Orsimer sent into Falkreath never return. No earnings are ever sent.

While working the mines, a section of the mines collapses killing many of the newly acquired slaves, but opening up a new section to the mines, where Corundum is discovered.

The soldiers begin training, using the new barracks as a training ground.

County of Evermor

Locations: Evermor

Population: 10800

Military: 1750

Siege Engineers begin training by building miniature siege weapons.

Due to the closed borders between Jehenna/Farrun and Evermor, strategies must be devised using potentially outdated information.

The officers begin training to give orders, but running mock battles.

Aether-Wave Pirates

Locations: Senchal

Population: 8250

Military: 1000

The ships set sail in the final moments of dusk. They sail for a few hours, and land upon the island. They quickly deploy, and the ships set sail again within a couple hours. The soldiers are not heard from, but the four warships return in one piece, reporting the soldiers arrived on the island safely.

Word is sent, in code, to the agents. No word is received in kind, and it is hoped that the orders made it safely.

Ivydale Monarchy

Locations: Haven

Population: 6400

Military: 490

Mages begin proper study in the mages hall.

The diplomat arrives at Southpoint safely.

The mage halls construction continues, expanding it to have rooms with actual purposes, like a library and a training room.

More work is made to growing the city walls, with arrow slits being grown specifically.

High Priest Telion paces back and forth looking over names, dossiers, and people of talent listed in his documents. He was given charge of the White Script by Queen Athaere herself, he had a lot to live up too. A knock on his door caught his attention, his bright eyes turned but his body did not as he simply stopped pacing “Come in.” he answers.

The door opens as Vianmir enters the room “How goes the search my friend?” he asks as Telion goes and takes a seat “It goes well, now that construction is coming along just fine I need to start pulling in candidates for the Script.” he says looking over the papers again.

Vianmir shrugs leaning against the table “I’ve been talking to Queen Athaere, she has been training with the troops with Adus. Their training is complete for now, so we can devote more time to aiding in forming the Script. I’m here to help with that.

Telion keeps reading over his papers “To help me or your Black Script?” he asks, Vianmir stands up straight glaring at Telion “How do you know-” Telion looks up at Vianmir “I am charged with running the Sanctuary...Of course I know about it, you aren’t the only one with ears in Alinor Spymaster Vianmir..

Queen Athaere stands alongside other Mage’s where the Sanctuary is at “We will finish everything for the White Script this year. Rooms, Training Area, Master Quarters.” she nods looking over as Telion and Vianmir approaches the site. A Young woman in tow behind Telion, she wears bright white and golden clothing with red trim, she carries a bow on her back. Between her chest and her shoulder a badge of the Sun. Telion’s first recruit for the White Script.

County of Evermore

Kf5Yozw.jpg

Location: Evermore, Farrun/Evermore border

It seemed as if it would be a normal day for David, he was a border guard working at the border between Farrun and Evermore and today woud be another boring day watching endlessly into the distance.

Yet David, unfortunately for him, didn't notice a rustling behind the bushes and then a few seconds later David felt something hitting the back of his head and then there was only darkness.

This occurrence happened all across the border between Farrun and Evermore.

Farrun border guards were stealthily or not so stealthily taken down and soon the way was clear.

Then from the distance a cloud of dust slowly started to approach and become bigger.

This was no normal cloud since it came from the thunderous sounds of more than a  thousand boots hitting the ground in an even pace whilst drill sergeants ordered soldiers to keep their pace and keep walking.

Then the men started marching whilst on a nearby hill lord Uther watched as the troops started coming closer and closer to the border.

This was what they had prepared for for years, this what was the goal they had been preparing to fight for, now it would finally be happening.

For hundreds of years disunity had killed thousands, if Uther had anything to say about that then that would stop.

The time of small petty kingdoms and states in High Rock was over, now is the time to finally unite the Region once and for all, no daggerfall, no Wayrest and no other kingdom just High Rock and even if it would cost him his life Uther would do all he could to make his dream a reality.

And the first step to doing that had now started.

Then undramatically and without almost anyone noticing the first soldiers walked over the border and the war had begon.

Actions

3 ap spent for the offensive against Farrun.

An army of 1250 soldiers enters the province of Farrun and marches across the old road towards the old castle.

They would follow the old road and their front, sides and back would be covered by scouts looking for any traps.

The soldiers would follow the old road which would go near the sea, staying on guard especially as they cross in a valley between the large hills and valleys.

Each day they would set up a fortified encampment when they need to go to sleep and go on high alert with there being guards put on watch.

Then if they were not interrupted they would go to the castle and if it was again used be put under siege.

1 ap spent on improving farming output

Aether-Wave Pirates

595fad9c69b21_Aether-WaveFlag.png.15acc73e1b038572cae32b991e3e6821.png

Battle Plans

Tasius, on the Omen-Hawk, would lead the Scorched Eel, Broken Wolf, and three of the Warships across the Topal Bay, near sunset. Depending on the reaction to the Soulrest ships, the plan would change. There would be an Expert Mage and 50 soldiers on each Warship. The Scorched Eel and the Broken Wolf would be ordered to attempt to take the enemy ships, without destroying them. The three pirate ships would have 50 soldiers as well.

IF: Most of the Soulrest ships began to give chase and pursue the Senchal ships, then Tasius would lead all of the ship's further into the Topal Bay, away from the Coasts.

IF: The ships didn’t pursue, then he would begin launching a mass attack, making it seem as though he was trying to punch a hole to the coast through the Soulrest Ships.

Regardless of which occurred, the soldiers and mages on the Topal Island would take rowboats to the shore of Soulrest, as soon as the Soulrest ships were gone/distracted, and 350 soldiers would begin attacking the city, with the help of two adepts. As soon as this begins, a signal would occur, in the form of the biggest, flashiest spell possible from the Adepts.

Meanwhile, the remaining 2 adepts and fifty soldiers would enter the catacombs from wherever they could, and begin making their way across the catacombs, using the Clairvoyance spell to make their way to the Count’s home (or as close as possible with the catacombs. Once there, the Soldiers and mages would make their way to the count, and take him hostage. Either he tells his forces to surrender, or he perishes.

If he choose to surrender, then he will be left alive, under guard from the soldiers, while the Senchal Ships land, and collect with the soldiers already in Soulrest.

If he refuses, he perishes, and the 50 soldiers and 2 adept rejoin the others already attacking Soulrest, either helping them through the gate, or simply rejoining them if they are already in the city. From that point the soldiers and adepts should continue the attack until they are either forced to retreat (100 or less men) or victory is obtained.

Meanwhile, if Tasius and the fleet have proven victorious with the naval battle, they should dock at Soulrest at the earliest chance (unless the attack on the city has yet to begin), and begin assaulting the city as well.

Letter stats the same, “I accept Them All! When my diplomats came back with gifts, i was in honesty shocked, this shows me you had no intent of harm, I To wish for a alliance and a wise man once said ‘When you seem a person of good, Stick to them like holding onto a tree to avoid the flood’ I offer an alliance between Al-Shams And Khalistine! Aerduin over looks her reports humming a jaunty tune as she reads them seeming pleased with the progress the mages hall was making in the upper regions of the great tree. Soon she would look to the scrolls speaking of the diplomat reaching Southpoint safely and would nod going to scribble down a message for the diplomat to commence talks of negotiating trade while also asking the diplomat to take an assessment of their defenses and their people. Once that was finished she would walk over to look out over the forest their great tree looms over enjoying the view and her time to herself “This is going pretty good…” She says to herself before going to take a walk among her citizens.

Hegathe

“Hmm, this is most troubling,” Endon muttered as he looked out from his home at Hegathe. He stood out on a balcony, casting his gaze out to the sea as his wife played behind him with his two kids.

“The sea… turns against us for some reason,” Endon muttered to himself. He knew it was true, though odd. For some reason, every time they tried to capture a ship the sea swallowed it. This was most unusual and tough to figure out. However, there had to be some reason behind it. He then turned away from his balcony and started pinning letters, which read as follows.

“Priests, Mages, and Scholars of Hegathe. I call upon you now to solve a great problem our nation has been faced with. The sea itself seems to have turned against us and now sinks any ship we try to capture. I cannot explain this, thus I reach out and ask you to solve this problem. Figure out what’s causing it and what we can do to stop it.”

-Lord Endon

These letters would then be sent out throughout the realm to the any priest, mages, or scholars in the realm to figure out.

AP:

0 AP Hegathe would continue to wage war against the pirates using the same tactics with which they have seen success before and not boarding the ships.

2 AP Hegathe would begin trying to figure out why its ships were being swallowed up by the ocean.

1 AP Hegathe would begin advertising its mages college in hopes of drawing in new and aspiring mages, or those that previously did not have a place to call their own.

1 AP Hegathe would begin rebuilding the ships it lost, plus any additional warships that could be manufactured.

Two trade ships are constructed to replace those lost, and 1 warship is constructed.

The men sent to Falkreath are arrested, and an Envoy from Falkreath arrives at Elinhir, with a letter from Bur-Deese Canisifon.

To Sultan Ibraheem Al-Assad,

Your men have recently came into my borders, and began disturbing the peace, singing your praises. While I personally have no doubt of your greatness, they do disturb the peace of my county, and would prefer in the future that you do not send such people where they are not welcome.

With regards, Bur-Deese Canisifon

The men are sent back to Skaven with a letter approving the alliance.

Crescent Empire

Locations: Imperial City

Population: 9075

Military: 750

Bruma can be seen building a dock on Lake Rumare (The lake surrounding the Imperial City)

All is normal at the Bravil fortifications. The navy continues to assault the walls with thrown rocks. Bravil occasionally launches arrows from over the walls.

Then, the silence breaks. The western fortifications are assaulted, not from Bravil, but from beyond the fortifications. Lightning flashes, and a group of legionnaires are fried. A group of twenty mages, leading an army of over a thousand beast-folk marches over the border of Rimmen. Two flags are being flown; the flag of Rimmen, and the Flag of Bravil. The mages launch fire, ice, and lightning. The soldiers marching fire arrows, piercing the meager armor of the Crescent Empire’s soldiers. The soldiers, barely trained and poorly armed, quickly break rank and flee.

The twenty mages quickly turn their attention to the ships on the Larsius River, and begins bombarding them. Fire, Lightning, and Ice bombard the ships, and before long, the ships are forced to flee as well.

Bravil has been freed south of the Larsius river, and the city refortified. The Empire’s ships must now keep distance from the city, or be bombarded by magic.

Losses are high, as few of the soldiers or ships south of the Larsius river survived. The siege of Bravil has been broken. (-600 Soldiers, -6 Warships)

As the armies of Evermor arrive at the city of Farrun, oddly undisturbed, they discover something shocking; The city is already under siege, by the forces of Jehenna. The forces of Evermor, confused, pull back from the city, and send word back to Evermor, for instructions.

Work is done towards improving farm output.

Aether-Wave Pirates

Locations: Senchal

Population: 8050

Military: 850

The plan went well. The six ships manage to draw out most Soulrest’s Navy into the bay. While the Omen-Hawk and the three Warships distract the Soulrest Navy, the Scorched Eel and the Broken Wolf manage to board one of the Soulrest ships, and kill most of the sailors, taking control of the ship. By the time they’ve finished this, the mages have managed to sink the other Soulrest ships. (+1 Warship)

Meanwhile, the Topal Island forces manage to easily make it to shore. The assault on the gate works perfectly, with the 350 Soldiers and the 2 Adepts taking it quickly, and moving into the city.

The fifty soldiers and the 2 adepts manage to make it through the catacombs, thanks to the skillful use of the Clairvoyance spell, and make their way up into a small side street adjacent to the Count’s house. The soldiers move in, and manage to easily overpower the small guard force acting as a private guard for the Count.

With blade at his throat, the Count surrenders Soulrest, and word is quickly sent across to all forces. The battle for Soulrest is won. Now all that remains are the demands of the victor. (-150 Military, PM me before next post)

The mines report good news; they have discovered Orichalcum ore in the mines.
