so how are you encouraging them to do so

and what's the purpose of writing such a complicated emote for a simple action

*bashes door is kind of bad and doesn't make grammatical sense

*bashes the door would be something more acceptable - I think the sentences should atleast try to make sense at the very least.

Yeah we definitely want correct sentences - but we've seen people who don't do that.

I'll give you a scenario;

Say you and your friends are going around lockpicking houses in courland's capital as you heard someone had a load of unlocked chests in their basement and you wanted to get into it. However with the capital being rather active at times, if a GM emoted a large bang against the door - people would probably realise what you're trying to do and come to try and stop you. With better emotes you could potentially avoid this.

How could you avoid the bashing in of a door being loud

If someone can do it by writing a long emote involving looking around that's ******* ludicrous and I'd be pissed if that was my ****

You can't. I know that it's not inevitably realistic, but we can't make everything be realistic on the server otherwise our hands would be full of bread 24/7. It's just a simple system to try and encourage people to better their roleplay when lockpicking.

If nobody is going to read their emote then who cares how long and drawn out it is? All emotes like that do is make roleplay more complex and harder to do for absolutely no reason.

When people say they want to increase the quality of villain rp this is absolutely not what they mean. I don't think anyone gives a **** what randomrper123 does while they're breaking a door open because it's the exact same outcome either way

You haven't had the guard try and stop you while you're going B&Eing before have you? It can go either way, multiple ways actually

The method you're breaking in and the length of your emote means very little in that scenario.

(please don't make folks comb the whole map for a lockpick shop just so they can roleplay)

Should have expected that only villain-roleplayers would complain this much about having to do a detailed-emote at most 9 times in a day. Oy vey.

I personally want to see you emote because.

  • 1: We want to see if it is even feasible for you to open the door.

  • 2: Because you have a habbit of just PMing a GM and spamming the roll button three times, making it too easy and hazzle-free to potentially steal another player's items.

  • 3: We want to see how much noise you'd make. If you think your action through and commit your action in a feasible and silent manner, you won't make enough noise for people to come get you.

If you are really worried about wasting our time, just write out your emotes in advance, done. I'm sure that's the reason you're all upset.

So about them roll numbers.

They the same?

Does your emote influence them?

Does using explosive bypass anything?

Do constructs have to do the same rolls as a normie to break down a door?

So basically what some of these folks are saying is that they don't want to roleplay on a roleplay server. They'd rather it be more of an ooc matter: modreq a GM, thrice /roll, and hope you get over 17.

That's dumb. Roleplay.

It's not that hard to write a three line emote about kicking open a door. That being said, is it still 17+ to bust down a wooden door, or will strength and emote detail be taken into consideration? My homunculus is as strong as an orc and has emoted grabbing someone's armored wrist and literally squeezing it until the metal bends and warps. You can't expect me to accept that I can't kick in a door with minimal effort.

Am I still able to break down doors with telekinesis? And does that require a gm? I'd prefer if you could consult the magic team before answering as I have had incorrect answers regarding my magic from multiple GMs only to later consult magic guys and be told the GMs don't know what they're talking about.

I mean all it would be doing is emoting the door being twisted with pressure from a magical force and rolling for forced entry.

And to the update: Why the **** would you just take all the lockpicks and rehide them?! That doesn't fix anything lmao

If you kick a door in via kicking the area around the handle, that would cause less force to be needed and thus create less noise. If you bash it in towards the middle, however, the force of your bash/kick would spread throughout the door, causing more force to be needed and more noise to be made.

Simpler to stick to a flat roll system, the more alterations we get the more DND we might as well go. (^:
