Vent thread about clubs

Initially I was really excited about the clubs and what it meant for the forums. It meant that we could make forum sections for ourselves and better organize ourselves through the forums without the assistance of the slow forum bureaucracy (yes, bureaucracy. I'm slowly starting to use the server's favorite buzzwords).

 

Yet I discover that I could not even make the club myself. I had to put in an application??? lol And now. I'm only leader in my club and can't personalize it or add forum sections or anything.

 

Great feature. Implemented well. Neutered.

 

Can I not be given owner so that I can personalize my club?

You can still make sub-forums in the clubs with leader. Or at least I've been able to.

I share your anger, but the problem isn't our side. The feature is extremely new and was just introduced in the latest version of IPS (our forum host software.)

 

When I tell you there's literally no customizability when it comes to setting it up, 501 gave me complete access to the node and there's probably what 20 buttons max I can play with.

 

I really want clubs to be better, but at the moment its a catch 22. Since clubs basically don't follow actual forum permissions, if youre a leader of a club you'll have the same level of permissions as an actual administratior. You can't break down permissions for different groups. Therefore a decision had to be made.

 

Every club leader be able to do absolutely anything with their group and have the ability to pretty much grill a club, or restrict all mod abilities down to safe options. In the end FMs and Admins have just as much permissions in clubs as club leaders.

 

However, Tythus said IPS are announcing an update Soonish (tm). I'm hoping there's further support for clubs on the way because it's, well, ****.

also i only just found out leaders dont have owner perms and you need admincp to change owner so im gonna start making club leaders owners soon sit tight

Once a moderator or leader creates sub-forums you will be able to create and post much like on the usual forums.

 

Otherwise, Club posts to the clubs that you are a part of will show up in the general feed, not those of those that have nothing to do with you.

Except leaders can't change the club image..

the club was honestly a side thing in my day.
