Preamble

Longevity has always been synonymous with martial prowess, and such prowess do the Curonic Huscarls maintain. Proud, fearsome men feature prominently in our peoples history, and our current army. As we stave off the treacherous and those who heed heresy, pound senseless the heathens of the lands, we beckon all good and righteous men to lend arms to our cause. Should you serve in our efforts to strike dead the wicked and aid the righteous, you should note the following….

Fighting Spirit - the History of Curonic Military forces

 

Since the dissolution of the Principality of Evreux, the duchy of Curon has faced near constant turmoil - Santegian treachery led to the occupation of most of the Ducal lands on Asul, and kept many loyal citizens in constant conflict as they tried to secure their home. Whence Alexandria was liberated by Karl, Duke av Curon, the forces under his command were largely militias and fairly unorganized. With their skill and strength though, they maintain Curonic independence to this day - now formally conglomerated as the Huscarls of Curon.

 

Most recent conflicts have seen many of the men currently in service crusading against Norland, who still come into armed conflict with our men to this day. Santegian heretics too do combat with us, but to little avail. In striving to protect our people, we have begun to achieve much more, and never will we allow an enemy who has striked us owe retribution for long.

 

Drawing from the traditions of old and the wise ways of our forefathers, Huscarls today enjoy a great deal of prestige. Attending many feasts and travels with the Duke, and treated almost as first class citizens of Hunhaga, they are organized in the following way:

 

Ranking Structure:

 

Commander

Above all men stands the Commander. Tasked with assigning military directives and organizing the officer corps of the Huscarls, their word is law.

 

Lieutenant-Commander

The second in command of the Curonic Huscarls, the Commander's right hand charged with enforcing. He is the Commander’s orders.

 

Lieutenant

Officers of the Huscarls. Charged with leading patrols, raids, excursions, etc.

 

Serjeant

The highest ranking of the enlisted soldiers. You will usually find Serjeants out recruiting, leading trainings, or at a Lieutenants side during a raid acting as his second.

 

Footman

The brave Canonist men and women who make up the majority of the Huscarlian shieldwall in Curon. They fight bravely to defend Curon, their home, and follow orders as precisely as possible.

 

Initiate

The raw recruits brought in by the Serjeants. These men and women have yet to complete their training and be formally sworn into the Curonic Huscarls.
