The Decency Act of 1653

Issued by His Highness Prince Robert Sigismund and Confirmed by His Majesty King Otto III

The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, 18th of the Snow’s Maiden, 1653

 

An Act

To affirm the virtues of faith and decency, as well as the continuation of deterring taint from our lands, this act shall be enacted to provide provisions to the Chancellery, Lord Maer, and the Royal Army in the enforcement thereof.

  1. Be it enacted that all the following articles or features of clothing are prohibited from all public settings: hoods, armaments sustained by unlawful and unregistered magic, masks, helmets, and coverings that inhibit the visibility of the countenance unless otherwise authorized (e.g. civilian and military personnel) or necessitated by natural forces.

    1. The refusal to abide by such legislation shall be met with force, subject to removal from city grounds and or the detainment and imprisonment of persons in defiance to this ordinance.

    2. All suspicions persons shall be subject to inquest and searches and seizures.

    3. The Crown shall dispense pardons and reprieves at its discretion.

    4. The Royal Army shall be empowered to the execution herein granted.

 

  1. Be it further enacted that all public displays of sacrilege, blasphemy, slander against the Holy Church of the Canon within the capital is declared forbidden.

    1. Individuals in noncompliance to that of the faith who openly disregard the tenets thereof shall be detained. If no revocation is made, the individual in question shall be apprehended and branded.

    2. The three strikes clause is applicable as provided in the Crime Prevention and Enforcement Act of 1646.

    3. Non-believers are not entitled to any trial and at the discretion of the Magistrate, shall be immediately subject to capital punishment or other.

    4. The Crown shall dispense pardons and reprieves at its discretion.

    5. The Royal Army shall be empowered to the execution herein granted.

 

  1. Be it further enacted that any public display of criticism, libel, slander, or any other conduct akin to the aforementioned whether written, spoken, or the like against the Crown is declared seditious and deemed dangerous to the vitality of the Royal Administration, thereby forbidden.

    1. The Crown shall dispense pardons and reprieves at its discretion.

    2. The Royal Army shall be empowered to the execution herein granted.

 

  1. Be it further enacted that assaults against civilian, military, and religious officials are declared treason and is hereby outlawed.

    1. All offenders shall be brought before the Crown for testimony prior to sentencing.

    2. Offenders found guilty shall be subject to capital punishment.

    3. All non-believers shall be waived from trial and shall be immediately executed.

    4. The Crown shall dispense pardons and reprieves at its discretion.

    5. The Royal Army shall be empowered to the execution herein granted.

 

  1. The Crown shall have the full authority to enforcement and amendment of this act.

Auralia can see the good in this new law for the church, but also how it can be taken the wrong way. She doesn't, however, make a comment, believing it not her place to do so.
