A Call To The Worthy

Alone once more he sat within his fine hall, among his greatest creations, with servants tending to his every will, he would soon come to learn he was to undertake the mages guild alone. His two associates who had so eagerly recruited him had gone missing, swept away with the wind or cast down by a final blow, he did not know.

 

The old dwarf sat stirring within his armchair, working away writing various parchments he’d grumble to himself every so often, his mind deep in thought, taken out of the trivial task he worked away at as the options he had before him weighed up.

With a burst of rage the old dwarf flipped the heavy wooden table, jewels of all manner of value flicked across the room, the sound of wealth dropping to stone polluted the air as the table flipped to its side. A group of young dwarves entered shortly after, all but one beginning to pick up the individual pieces and take them back to where they belonged. The leftover dwarf approached the rage enduced Archmage without hesitation, as though an old friend he stood quietly as the Archmage destroyed most of the remainder of the room.

 

After some time had passed and the worn Archmage stood panting within a room torn to shreds, he’d begin to speak. . . As though routine the young dwarf standing nearby drew parchment and pen and began to write as he spoke

 

“Call for worthy mages within the guild to show their prowess via either a feat of knowledge or witt. They can bring forth magical artifacts, books, staves, whatever they fancy. Or show off their wit in combat by completing a specific given task, or mayhaps a duel between multiple mages”

 

With that the dwarf left the room, rolling the parchment up he’d scribbled upon he’d head for the aviary
