Mission Statement

The Curonian Royal Academy (Commonly abbreviated to the ‘CRA’) is an educational institution located in the heart of Curonia, the city of Avalain. The Academy aims to provide a staple environment to enrich the learning capabilities of the youth across Areas, allowing them to develop critical academic and practical skills.

 

Enrollment

The Academy is open to children of all Imperial states. Par the few requirements of acceptance, those of both noble, gentry, merchant and common birth are welcome within the walls of the RCA. Enrollment tuition is 25 minas per one saint’s week to attend, and requires an application to ensure that all necessities for entrance are met. Students who cannot afford tuition can be afforded scholarships based on merit.

 

The acceptance requirements are as follows:

  • A student must be above 5 years old.

  • A student must be below 18 years old unless otherwise stated by the Headmistress

  • A student must be loyal to any Imperial Nation.

  • A student must be human.

Courses and Terms

The Academy features two beginner courses to get students situated into their new schedules. This will ensure that their stay at the academy is a balanced one without retention or learning deficit. More courses will gradually begin to be added per term, with finals at the end of every term that a student reaches. If a final is failed, they will continue to their next term but will not be given an additional course until they pass those they had previously taken. Examinations will not continue on a course after it is passed, though the classes will continue.

Examinations are performed at the same time will all those who are in the term, regardless of when they individually celebrate their birthdays/

 

Each course comprises of both a theoretical/written component, and a practical assessment, ensuring that the student has an adequate understanding both on paper and when placed in real-world scenarios.

 

All students must study etiquette each term, however they may choose their secondary elective courses. The amount of additional courses undertaken is decided by the student.

Courses are run on a demand basis, with at least one class aimed to be held each saints’ week. 

 

 

Courses Offered:

 

  • Etiquette: The mannerisms and etiquette of formal society will be taught to a student to ensure they hold the necessary knowledge and ideals fitting a citizen of the empire. It aims to educate these principles within both a theoretical approach, as well as hands-on situations. This course is compulsory, and must be attended regularly by all students

 

  • Literature: A basic necessity of society, students at this age will be taught their correct penmanship and the forming of posh writing. They will be encouraged to write down events occurring around them to add to the library of the academy, and will also be taught a format for sending letters to family members.

 

  • World Culture/Politics:  A student will be taught of the different cultures surrounding them, of all different races and people. This will develop their diplomatic skills so that  they are aware of everything that surrounds them and how they can react to it. They will be educated on the basis of different world governments and what makes good leadership. They will learn of failed and successful kings and queens. These classes are especially favoured by young future leaders and consorts.

 

  • Medicine:  Students will enjoy the benefits of learning basic medicinal practices, being taught of different scenarios and how to handle them. They may later join the squireship program of the academy, and put to use these skills, or continue to exercise them in everyday happenings.

 

Additional, and more specialised courses (such as Horseback Riding, Combat, Ballroom Dance, Herbology & Foreign language) will be held periodically also.


 

Roles in the Academy

 

Headmistress

The Mother of the academy. She controls the enrolment of students, as well as their graduations. She is in charge of each and every child’s wellbeing as if they are her own children, and drafts up the scheduling of classes and examinations.

 

Educateur

The Educateur is the teacher for one or many courses, and is in charge of educating students in the rites of courses. They will be in charge of going through with examinations for independent classes. There can only exist, as educators, held the amount of enrolled students at any given time 

 

Honors Student

The Honors Student is the most dedicated student in the school year. They are chosen every week and are given special honors within the academy to have a free elven week without need to participate in academic events. Honors Students are the most adept in every skill of their term. There is always competition in the academy to reach these honors.

 

Student

A Student is simply a child enrolled at the academy. They will have weekly classes and are expected to uphold the cleanliness of the school, as well as their studies.

 

Patronage

Patrons are those who see that the education of the young men and woman are well funded, and provide materials, minas, or support to the Academy. These can be family members of the students, or any person who is recognised as helping the academy. They can also be any age or gender.

Academy Code/Law

 

  1. Behavioural Expectations

Whilst enrolled at the Academy, students are expected to hold themselves to a high degree of conduct. They are to represent the Academy in such a way that puts forward the best of impressions upon the public, Failure to meet this may result in punishment, or expulsion in more severe circumstances.

 

  1. Attendance & Academic Capability

Throughout their tenure of enrolment within the academy, students are required to maintain a high level of attendance and academics. This means that at least one class may be attended every elven week, unless otherwise arranged with the Headmistress. Academic studies must also be held to a high level of effort, and negligence of such for a prologued period of time will lead to strict punishment.
