i forgot the part in the lore where it said iblees cursed orcs to be hairy. that would put a new spin on designs. of course i am a fan of hair mine is well over a foot long irl and even yahg has a good amount of hair but then i'm just a goblin i don't wander in the desert...i avoid the sun. Orcs evolve super fast so maybe even though iblees cursed Krugs children to be hairy their continued living in the desert made them naturally bald because hairy things dont evolve in the desert.

So...uh...I can no longer be the purple haired orc? D:

How will people identify me as a female now?!

of course you can urara. there are red and blue skinned orc and that has nothing to do with lore that i know of. I have been eating lapis for 160 years though that's how i explain myself:p as far as hair i don't think it really matters that it isn't black or dark brown. how about it's purple because you mix lapis with blood and put that on your head:D

No, no. I was talking about what you mentioned. Orcs evolving not to have hair. Do I have to shave my head now?

As for hair colors, Urara definitely dyes her hair. :) Her natural hair color is black.

I'm not entirely sure how this would be applied to women. Maybe hair can be something, incorporated into myth, that is very strongly associated with femininity: birth, pregnancy, menstruation, or w/e it might be. That said, it's not shameful for women to have hair, and it doesn't make them less tough to have hair; but when we see male elves and humans with hair it immediately triggers gender confusion.

I could definitely see orcs evolving to have little or no body hair. And it seems like a cool idea. But females are ALREADY hard to distinguish from males. Making us all bald and hairless would make us look uniformly like men.

Orc women probably generally have small breasts too. Breasts are mostly fat and orcs probably have very little body fat. Plus, large breasts make it difficult to run and fight. If we cut off our long hair, orc females would probably look almost exactly like the males. To outsiders, we might appear to be a mono-gender race.

I could see long hair and maybe hair in general being strongly associated with femininity, though. The only problem is that there are a handful of males with long hair already. I guess that could just be a personal style choice, though. "Cut yer hair, ya look like a girl!"

Lean orcs are softskins. We punish them. Only Lean Orc i can see is are Shamans. Goblins are closely related to orcs, but not a complete orc. Goblins are short and skinny, not stumpy and fat like dwarves. A Orc in my opinion is Genrally 7ft tall, not all are green but are born green and have had accidents happen to them to make them a different colour than green. Male orcs are genrally blad, and most of the shamans have long Brown to Black hair. Orcs in my opinion are big, and muscular but don't look like this. http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4241/funnypictues.jpg

We are not lean we are like not fat. We are just tall and have a 24-pack...

We look like this accept tall and green. http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/9727/strongman.png

Orcs can have tusks or big teeth to show fear into any animal or man.

-Blue Orc- Too much Exposure to Lapis Lazuli

-Red Orc- Been in Hellish places, such as the Nether...

-Green orc- Normal Orc, usually has brown spots because they love to get dirty.

-Tan orc- Their Genetics has made them adapt to the desert in a camoflauge pattern to sneak up on animals? (Not very good reason for tan orcs)

-White Orcs- Not many are seen but are genrally killed because the do not blend into anything, and should live in colder regions of the world. (Also not a good reason)

-Black orc- Lives in caves or dark places... or possibly has charred skin...(Okay, now i am just making stuff up...)

-snip

lean means lack of fat not skinny. this is lean:

as far as black orcs i don't see that being associated with living in caves as the more sun exposure the darker the skin, the less sun the lighter so cave dwelling orc and goblins would have very light green skin imo.

*hops on Bogs back...now go find us some alflins!

I think a big problem is that a lot of people think lean DOES mean skinny.

I suppose many people do think lean means skinny and i imagine it could. The two ways i always though about the term was one how "lean" meat is just meat without fat...it's still all muscle you are eating. Secondly in the bodybuilding world lean is another word for "ripped" as in lack of fat and all muscle. If orc don't want to be "lean" that means they have fat. If they want to be huge and "ripped" though that could still mean they are lean. It's just the interpretation of the meaning which for the most part means "lack of fat". meh really don't matter too much. As far as the huge tusks and jaws thats straight out of warhammer and wow though, in neither lotr or lotc lore would that make sense. Not that i care though :P i'm a gobbie! big ears-check big nose-check ugly-check

to be honest mogrokas avatar is pretty much how i see orcs. large and ripped(lean) with a small topknot of hair, humaniod body and strong but normal jaw.

Everyone, even Mogroka, has tusks, so I'm pretty sure tusks are here to stay for us.

I still want to see you draw Yaghy. I want to know EXACTLY how ugly he is.

In regards to skin color (I didnt see this mentioned but if it has ignore this) Orcs are all born green. Iblees cursed Krug by burning him with his fire and that forever stained his lineage with green hue. To that end, you can certainly have a different color orc, It should just be explained via an event that occured in life. Yaghy's "i ate lupis for 160" is one such method. If you ate carrots for 160 years, you would likely have a rather orange tint to you, and I would make fun of you for it on a daily basis.

Aye blaw i agree. The red orc i see can simply say it's all just blood they paint on themselves from kills. I went with the Bluish look before i thought up my bio as i was going for an "undergroud goblin" look but when making up my villian app. explained why my skin is blue. When i made Mogroka's skin i went with a very very dark green considering he wandered in the desert for like 30 years. Blaw how is your character described in having tan colored skin is it in your bio i am interested to know now:D
