Arteh 1837 Share Posted May 4, 2019 A gentle summers rain bounces off of the armor-cladded sellsword, returning atop his destrier as his eyes scan the land, examining the rich fields of his home; Leuven. He begins to think of his past and what brought him to where he is today. Chapter I: Winter of Snow's Maiden, 1707. A young Arthur lays in his bed, restless and unable to sleep. He pushes himself up and makes his way towards his window - staring out onto the cold, dried landscape. Arthur heaves a sigh as he thinks to his travels ahead, being sent to Aeldin and all other corners of the world to provide to the family’s coffers as a sellsword. A sudden sense of dread overtakes him as he thinks of his demise before quickly erasing the thought from his mind. The light of dawn peers in through the window of Arthur’s room as he is sitting beside his bed, he prepares himself in silence - gathering his valuable belongings; A heavy bastard sword given to him by his Father and a pendant with an image of a bear engraved on it. The pulls the final strap on his belt - amplifying the Sun on his tabard with pride as he ventures out of his room and into the courtyard to be bid farewell by his family. He offers them a reserved embrace, with fear looming in his eyes as he ventures out of the castle with a small band of volunteers. Chapter II: Spring of Malin’s Welcome, 1709. Two years of serving as a Sellsword in the Company of Daumier - Arthur had learnt to survive amongst these men. It was as if he had forgotten who he truly was; Arthur was now a serjeant-at-arms within the Company and was quickly rising within the Company perhaps attributed to his education as an adolescent. Thunderous drums roared to boost the morale of the troops as the Company of Daurmier stood in formation south of the castle of Langret on the border of the Al-Norid Sultanate in Aeldin. Arthur yelled commands as loud as he could to ensure the discipline of the troops and relayed the orders from Daumier and other commanders. The battle ensued at the first sound of a screeching horn as arrows blocked out the sun - several men beside Arthur perished as he peered around him from under his shield. The chaos of the battle was increasing at a rapid pace as suddenly the thunderous hooves of the infamous Cavalry representing the Sultanate charged into the ranks of the Daumier Company. It was in this battle that a rider carrying a mace dented the helmet of Arthur, leading to his significant scar over his left eye. It was said that Arthur dismounted at least five riders in this battle. Arthur wakes up in his tent, surrounded by his fellow Company-men as he tries to recollect the events of the battle - he could hear the cheery songs of the men being sang outside his tent. He knew they were victorious. Chapter III: Summer of the Sun's Smile, 1713. Arthur is now a captain in the Company of Daumier. He has earned the respect of his peers through his various hard fought battles. He had come a long way from when he had initially joined at the young age of 17. He thinks back at what he’s accomplished and a sudden sense of disappointment overwhelms him, he knows that if he was to die today - his name would be forgotten, everything he had thus far done in his life was for wealth - suddenly a roaring horn disrupts his thoughts as he rushes off to prepare for the next engagement. As they return from battle, awaiting for him are familiar colours as he sees the Golden Sun on a blue field - a messenger from Leuven had requested he return home. Arthur obliged, and began preparations to return. Arthur smiles briefly at his thoughts as he silently continues on his journey home, in the distance he can see his brother Conrad adorning the uniform of The Sun - a smile appears on Arthur’s face; He is finally home. cruzazul 2815 Share Posted May 4, 2019 Conrad awaited his brother’s return in earnest, sitting upon the docks for hours, waiting to see the familiar face he had not looked upon for over fifteen years. Finally, a small dingy made its way to the docks Northward of Haense, the only legitimate seaport within the Empire of Man. As he saw his brother trod off the dingy he quickly moved to join him. Conrad extended his right hand for his younger, but much stronger brother to shake, the gesture being reciprocated quickly. His hand gripping onto the visitor’s, he extended a writ for him to take. Swiftly, almost eagerly Arthur took the parchment as Conrad quickly leaned in closer in a kind of emotionless half-embrace, whispering something to him. They both gave nods of affirmation, quickly sallying off to their seat in Leuven. “It’s time for business” Conrad would quip.

Esterlen 4499 Share Posted May 5, 2019 Jack McCain stresses over a series of ledgers in his counting house, having met the other Falstaff brother some years ago at a dinner party. They had exchanged pleasantries then and mulled over shared travels in Aeldin. The tight-lipped Harrenite sucks on his whale-bone pipe, musing over the thought of his return for but a moment.
