To the honorable Alfredo de Myre, a response to your previous mailing,

It is truly a shame that our paths must collide violently like this, but such must occur for I could not incur the change I wish for within Ves without. There is no doubt that I wouldn’t be able to reform Ves into what it once was before it’s burning, for you my old friend have turned its political system into nothing but a system of democratic populism that corrupts the greatest city upon Arcas further and further by the day if not by the hour. This is why violence has been assured, not by my hand but your own for your treason to Ves and His Imperial Majesty, a mistake Alfredo you seem yet to realize.

Why do I think this? you must ask my dear friend Alfredo, surely. I have seen much of this New Ves that you have created, but every time my gaze looks upon it now, there are only thoughts of how you have forsaken Great Ves with your populist dogs. Truly it disgusts me beyond belief at what the city has degenerated into. Once it was filled with industry! Business! And more, much much more. But now, now only a shell remains of what was once greatness. It brings great hatred and anger to my heart, this, this is why I must restore Ves to its greatness and bring it back under the Renatian fold, for the stability and peace of the realm and most importantly Ves.

You have asked me to return to Ves, this is a request that will be answered in time. I shall return when the city is besieged to restore order and to ensure it falls not an inch further into depravity and disrepair. This republic you have proclaimed is but a corrupt sham, it must be wiped from the greatness of Ves. You have granted patrician status to those unworthy, elves and the like. Your administration is ineffective, members of government sit idle with jobs that have no use. Your military is most pathetic. I view all these offenses as slights directly to my own person, for I view Ves much like one of my own children, I wish to cherish it, for it to prosper yet you stifle such, my dear Alfredo. Truly these are unforgivable offenses.

As to my claim upon the City of Ves, I was elected directly by the people of Old Ves, you were not but I am sure you will claim you were. I created Ves, you tore it down to little more than a shell, a husk. And then you betrayed many of the people of Ves after the great burning committed by Haenseni. Furthermore, you support the Haenseni who burnt our fair Ves to the ground! What do you have? A claim that perhaps is as strong as mine and your weak democracy. For either way, it is doubtful such things shall withstand steel; the die has been cast my dear friend I wish you luck in the coming battles, you certainly need it.

Your old friend,

Demetrio d’Montelliano, Prince Mayor of Ves and First Patrician of Ves

“I don’t think we need luck when you’re too scared to meet us in the open field and defend the land surrounding Helena.” said Archbishop Zachery as he prepares for a siege, the renatians being too scared to attend the skirmish.

Waldemar was confused as they had, during the past year, hauled away more than twenty high-profile prisoners captured during Renatian victories accomplished on the very open fields the Archbishop mentioned.

“Which skirmish? You mean all the ones renatus has won? I’m very confused by that statement, are you in some kind of otherwordly realm?”

“Probably will never do, considering your entire force has fractured into independent charters and deserters since your first loss.” Answered Waldemar.
