THE BELL CHIMES NO MORE.

“Everybody wants to live, nobody wants to die.”

Early life

Harold Bell, son of Hans ‘the wayward’ Bell of the Vizmak brigade spent much of his early life living with his grandmother Natalie Bell until his father came to claim him aged six. Studying the arts of swordsmanship and herbology at a young age. Harold was the youngest of Han’s children, all which succumbed to illness and disease at young ages. Due to his fathers work, Harold often moved around much not making many friends of his own age, often hanging around with people far beyond his own years, most notably the Grand Sariant.

Young Adult years

With work drying up within the realm of Arcas, and the passing of his grandmother. The family estates were sold to avoid bankruptcy, the eventual lack of funds meant that Harold’s father had to take up mercenary work. Harold wishing to stick to the traditional family fashion of not engaging in the descendant’s politics opted to purchase a Tavern within the city of Reza, claiming it as payment for a life-long Barbanov debt. Despite his young years, Harold was extremely charismatic, quickly befriending Lord Konrad of Leuven, an individual with similar goals and motives.

The War of Two Emperors
“We are soldiers, stand… or die.”

During the early stages of the two emperor war, Harolds uncle and niece were slain by a Renatian patrol, despite their neutrality in the war. A report from Lord Konrad stated their defiled corpses were nailed to a tree to serve as an example. Overtaken by grief, Harold sought out his own father who was hired by the city of Ves, opting to join the side of Emperor Joseph. Following the defeat of the siege of Helena and despite having no prior experience, Harold provided a strategy and plan to deal with the looming Renatian threat, being named Chief of Staff. During the inner fighting of the council in Ves, many protested that Harold should be named Regent until a time that Joseph I had returned, no such edict would come to be as Ves withdrew from the war.
The Grand Sariant had taken up refuge within the city of Reza, meaning Harold would return to the city. Despite the dire case, morale seemed relatively high for the Haesetians. With the forces of Emperor Godfrey III approaching, Harold urged King Marius to place him in charge of the Vanguard, taking and ordering countless thousands to their deaths in order to delay the enemy so that the city of Reza had the opportunity to better prepare itself for the storm that was meant to be.

After the war
“It’s like a storm inside, their faces loom before me, screaming, pleading for help and I can’t save them.”

Returning to the city of Reza, the few that had remained from the vanguard were beaten and bloodied, the force that left returned a small group, despite the cheers and ceremonies no song was sung in the Bell Inn for quite some time. Harolds mood had shifted, the orphans that littered the street, the widows that had spent their deceased loved one’s coin to temporarily forget the horror that had befell them shattered the man. He had betrayed his family traditions and lead men to their deaths. He temporarily found solace in the arms of Lotte Kortevich. Whilst tutoring the orphans that had remained within the city.

Later years and death
“Was it you or I who stumbled first? It does not matter. The one of us who finds the strength to get up first must help the other.”

Harold and the Grant Sariant left Reza following the continued deterioration of Harolds mind. The duo travelled the world, attending luxurious feasts and balls, acquainting themselves with wary and broken travellers, offering a helping hand to get them back on their feet. Despite the horrors Harold had faced, the constant self-loathing and heartache he had redeemed himself, until finding out he had suffered a terminal illness, passing away in an agonising death aged sixty.

picking up Mariya, spinning her around and placing her back to the floor, bopping her nose, apologising for his absence over the several vacant decades from Haense.

Martín, the young lord of House Capet greets Harold upon his arrival in the seven skies. Though they only met briefly, the boy considers him one of the few friends he had in his very short life. Though they had fought on opposing sides of the war, Martín respected Harold's wisdom and believed him to be an honorable man. He felt Harold was one of the few he could discuss the war truthfully with.  He waves, smiling, which had been a rare sight from the cynical lad. "Welcome, ser. Though I'm sorry you had to pass on, I'm glad you're here. I look forward to exchanging war stories again."
