The Midnight Coup

Far off within the lands of Athera, Ailmar pondered to himself. ”I truly wonder if the Mali’ker will ever find peace within this realm. Unity is what binds us, and we have always suffered from division amongst the Ashen Folk.” He did not know why these thoughts came to him, but he has always been one to ponder on unlikely scenario’s. ”Only through unity may our people thrive. Mal’onns dissapearance was harmful, but certainly not a burden we are unable to overcome.” The Prince, now over a century old spoke to no one in particular. His pale eyes gazed around the halls of  Ker’nor, home to his distant ancestors. “Perhaps our people found unity through Vira’ker, but all that we remember it by is how it was a failed state. The crown never stood by these actions, and never will. I am not my brother, but his idiology for a united Ashen Folk is something I will never give up on.”

As the quiet night passed by, few of his fellow kin passed by, giving little to no attention to the half-asleep Ailmar. Perhaps someday a ‘ker would attempt to intervene in the Renelian quest for unity, and perhaps one would attempt to revive a dead Mali’ker state with a cursed legacy. Ailmar as he began drifting off to sleep shrugged his thoughts off. Certainly nobody would attempt such a thing anytime soon.

Ex-High Prince Xavis nods to himself as he hears this. For once in a long, long time, he’d make his way over to Vira’ker, standing on it’s old sands. A soft breeze flows through his hair as he breaths in. The elf, wishing he could see it all within his limited sight lets off a sigh of relief ”You will lay in good hands, my dear Vira’ker. Long have you needed someone to take care of you. Your walls have started to crumble and your plants have over grown you. The grave of my Loved one lies on your peaks, and I know you’ve done well to take care of her. It is time for you to rise once more and be free, let your power be known through the lands as you stand true to yourself. A blessing I send your way.” With that, Xavis walks to the edge of the sands just before the city. His flesh left hand runs across the sands, feeling the grains roll across the tips of his fingers before letting them bathe in the sea waters next to the city. Finally, Xavis would take his last look and start to walk off- away from the city as he hums out ”Fair well, my beloved city. May you rise to glory once more”

The Lunar Sage, Rhaella Ashwood would smile, hearing about the news as she would sit inside her apartment within Asimu’lei.. Her eyes would fill with tears as she thought about all the memories she had left in Vira’ker after her father had stepped down as High Prince. Her heart continued to live within Vira’ker, but she knew her duties lied elsewhere.. She just hoped Rhys and Zaos, two boys who she had once considered her sons, do well with the land they she had given Rhys permission to use some years back..

"”Z,” Rhys sighs, “I’m saying why don’t you take over the empty throne of Vira’ker? No one has sat on it in many years... This may be a turning point for us.”"

Evar'tir Ithelanen, Ashen King of Vira'ker snorts as he heard the news. "Funny, but no."

A dark elf sits at wooden desk topped with ink and aged parchment. Room dim light by the candles. The cry of a bird gives way. The dark elf is content to read by candlelight. Before offering a vocal response to his kin about him.
