THE BISHOPRIC OF VES

Maintained by His Grace, Bishop Krisztián Mátyás Károly of Ves, Msgr. 

 

The greenest grass lies in the shadows from the finest of grapevines, kissed by the most radiant sun. A paradise of civility and serenity that we call Kaedrin, upon which rests a new crown jewel: the Bishopric of Ves, or Vesz in Madyaric. Granted to His Grace Krisztián for his contributions to the expansion of the diocese, the emboldening of the Church and the faith of the Madyar people by His Holiness the High Pontiff James II: this Bishopric shall stand as a robust pillar that the Kaedreni faithfuls can build upon.

 

 

In times of rampant sin and astray souls, the Holy Church of the Canon has a vested interest in maintaining its bastions of faith throughout the realm. The Bishopric of Ves is one of many of these bastions, and primarily delves in maintaining a Canonist population and representing the will of the Holy Church of the Canon locally. The predecessor to Bishop Krisztián was Bishop Boniface, who not only had maintained the relevancy of this particular Bishopric, but who had also brought fervency to Canonism throughout his reign. With a new era approaching, His Holiness the High Pontiff James II sought a new type of clerical stanches however, resulting into the Ninth Golden Bull of Helena to declare this Bishopric under a new mandate.

 

THE ADMINISTRATION OF VES

 

The Bishopric is a member of the Commonwealth of Kaedrin, maintaining several houses of GOD and a minor territory near St. Thomas and the city of Owynsburg. It also cooperatively manages vineyards and agrarian establishments with the Duchy of Angren. It answers directly and exclusively to the Holy Church of the Canon and His Holiness the High Pontiff.

 

These territories, cooperatives and houses of GOD are managed by the Vesian council: the government organ consisting of functionaries appointed by His Grace. His Holiness the High Pontiff also sits on the council and can choose to partake if he pleases to do so. The Vesian Council consists of:

The Marschall of the Landsers of St. Owyn, handles all military affairs executively and ensures the safety of all Canonist structures and clergymen.

Lady Winifred Roussard née Byrne

The foreign representative of Vez, ensures good relations with all human parties and explores the needs and wants of Canonist allies of the Church and the Bishop.

 

The Reverend Court Chaplain of Ves

Father Edgar Henry de Sarkozy

The representative of faith on the Bishopric’s council, responsible for the utilization of its churches and clergymen.

The mistress of etiquette, socializing and intrigue on behalf of the Bishopric.

THE LANDSERS OF ST. OWYN

 

The Holy Church of the Canon had mandated the Barclay retinue of Landsers to defend the diocese of Ves and the Holy Basilica of Fifty Virgins. It served not just as a token of trust between the Clergy and the pious House Barclay, but also the legacy of the previously established Landsers carried through the blood of the marshal Father Anton Barclay. As such, an originally Hanseti retinue guards the Madyar, the Bishopric of Ves and the Basilica in Hanseti-Ruska. 

 

The Landsers of St. Owyn have, aside from the Marshal who has a seat on the Vesian council, a hierarchy constructed around the idea of clerical servitude as much as ruthless military efficiency:

COMMERCE

 

The Bishopric is blessed with the fertile lands of Kaedrin and the ancient knowledge of Equastrianship through its Tarchar roots: these components together bring forth excellent opportunities for commerce on a local and Empire-wide scale. 

 

THE BANK OF ST. TOBIAS

An organization that provides citizens of the Empire with loans, enforced by the Holy Church of the Canon. 

 

THE EQUESTRIAN CHARTER

A breeding guild of steeds intended for military and missionary purposes. 

 

BISHOP’S BREW LLC.

A privately ran brewery that sells exclusive brews of ale and wine to the Commonwealth of Kaedrin and allies of the Church. 

 

The profits of these ventures are placed in the treasury of the Bishopric of Ves, who in turn use this capital to promote Canonist interests and bankroll projects of the Holy Church of the Canon. Furthermore, the Bishopric of Ves acts as a training ground for Chaplains of the Imperial State Army.

 

 

HISTORY

 

The Bishopric of Ves is renowned for its steadfast service to the Holy Church of the Canon and the Commonwealth of Kaedrin, being the pontifical crown jewel since its existence. Standing only second to the Holy See in terms of notable predecessors, importance to the faith and expansion of the diocese.
