THE WAILER SOCIETY

‘The Alistair Wailer Fellowship of Artists and Authors’

 

The Alistair Wailer Fellowship of Artists and Authors, known shorthandedly as the Wailer Society, is a confraternal association of literary and artistic individuals dedicated to the advancement of Haeseni art and literature, and in broader scale the support of all creative thinkers in Oren and her provinces. Founded in 329 ES (1776 AH) by writers Otto the Tarcharman, Dietrich van Jungingen, and John Walker, the society was given its titular moniker from the famous poet and knight Alistair Wailer (107 ES - 186 ES). Both a polymath (he was an accomplished poet and mathematician) and soldier, Alistair Wailer lived and strove to carry out the romantic Strannik lifestyle: a wandering scholar-knight defending the meek and protecting the dignity of others. The society strives to live in his example through the patronage of the artists and philanthropy to the deserving.

 

In pursuing this end, the society has established an official mission, outlining both its goals and intentions,

I - Create a body of like-minded individuals dedicated to the creative output of literature, poetry, or art in Haeseni and greater Orenian culture.

II - Promote and sponsor the creation and publication of literature, poetry, and art throughout the empire.

III - Protect the integrity of the artistic progress without involvement of divisional politics.

The society is a private, invite-only organization. Individuals are considered for membership through an unanimous vote of its current body. Characteristics such as work portfolio, experience, and civil service are the main attributes of consideration, and the society prides itself on an ability to curate an association of professionalism. Those who are interested in seeking consideration for membership may write privately to the current chairman of the society.

 

All members are titled as a Fellow of the Wailer Society and bestowed the postnominal dignity ‘FWS’.
