A NEW IMPERIAL HORIZON

AN EVERARDINE PLAN FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR EMPIRE 

 

The future of humanity looks bright: our fine nation is bestowed a competent leadership and a cohesive vision by our Josephite colleagues in the House of Commons. We wish to first and foremost transcend our electoral strategies and ideological differences to compliment Jonah Stahl-Elendil and his associates for the accomplishments they have made. They singlehandedly cured the malaise Oren was feeling under the Basrid Ministry, and brought new life to the inventive and ambitious souls of our fine race.

 

But alas, something good always has something better. If we did not genuinely believe that our policies are the better alternative: we would not be organizing under the banner of the Everardine Party. Therefore, despite our appreciation for the Josephite administration, we gotta do it to them: and present to you our new plan for the Holy Orenian Empire.

 

 

ANNOUNCEMENT 

 

The Everardines, seeking to preserve all unique identities and harmonious societies in existence, will cooperate with Kairn Igus Ithelanen from the Elven Traditionalist Party: allowing them to consult the Everardines on legislative proposals, and standing united as citizens of Oren who do not want to dilute the beautiful differences that exist within the Holy Orenian Empire. 

 

We will also allow for Mr. Ithelanen to run for House of Commons on our behalf: proudly being the first elf to ever run for an Everardine seat. Huzzah for progress!

STATEMENT ON THE CENTRALISTS

 

The Everardines deeply regret the actions of EDWARD SELM, a person who tried to blackmail and threaten the Everardine leadership. His Centralist party is nothing more but an attempt to overthrow the Stahl-Elendil administration. Although we have major ideological differences with Stahl-Elendil: we compete electorally due to our sheer convictions in our worldviews, not to procure power for our own cronies. If the latter was true, we would’ve given up after our series of poor electoral results. Unlike the Centralists, we shall persist and continue to fight for the Everardine ideology. The Centralists however, will disappear the moment their power grab fails. Do not entertain these clowns, who poison the electoral discourse like the Muldavs before them.

 

CAPITAL CITY POLICIES 

 

The Everardines believe that the capital should be a prosperous city within the Holy Orenian Empire in terms of commerce, culture and political organization. To ensure that the society within the Imperial Capital remains heard, participative and active: we wish to introduce the following systems: 

 

CIVIL PETITION SYSTEMS, that allow folks to express discontent or support for any project or reform related to the capital. If for example the government is abolishing the livery system, citizens of the Capital can petition the government not to do so: finding their petition, and its arguments, discussed in the House of Commons. This will also act like a civilian veto on Imperial projects in Helena. 

 

PROTECTIONISM TO CAPITAL BUSINESS, that ensures that citizens of the Imperial Capital can always start a new business and sell their goods: without having to compete with vendors from outside the Empire. 

 

ESTABLISHING A CULTURAL BOARD, that unites the functionaries from the Palace, those of the Clergy and private organizations in hosting festivals and events in the Imperial Capital: while also ensuring that no schedule collides, and that each party can benefit off the infrastructure of another.

 

ESTABLISHING A MINISTRY OF CULTURE, that makes the government able to maintain and update our historical records, display the diverse cultures of the Empire and aid communities with their own cultural recordkeeping by providing historical records and references regarding their identity.

 

EMPLOYMENT LISTS, that registers those interested in serving in the government: so that upon new vacancies, the incumbent government can invite remaining members on the list for interviews, processing or hiring. 

 

REGIONAL POLICIES 

 

The Everardines wish to see humanity remain diverse, and to not succumb to the paranoid and authoritarian instincts to suppress the development of regional polities post-Haense. Through this, we can ensure prosperity Empire-wide and avoid to recreate the malaise that haunted Oren during its past generations. 

 

DEVOLVED GOVERNANCE, that allows peers of the same cultural identity or political alignment to organize and manage its territories in a modernized and civil manner: abandoning feudalism in favour of an assembly, elected head from among the peers and the legislation of local laws pertaining to their respective communities. 

 

LET LIVE POLICY, that allows regional polities and cultural communities to determine who they want and don’t want to reside on their land: allowing the Imperial Capital to remain open to all, while simultaneously allowing for peoples to preserve their homogeneity. 

 

GUARANTEEING THE VOICES OF MINORITIES, ensuring that communities other than those in the Imperial Capital can have influence on legislation that affects them, while not boasting sufficient electoral power to influence the House of Commons: by guaranteeing seats for locally elected representatives in the House of Commons. 

 

BALANCING THE HOUSE OF LORDS, so that an equal number of peers from all respective regions are represented in this Chamber, and thus, are able to maintain the quality of our peerage without regional biases affecting its decision making. 

 

SOCIAL POLICIES 

 

The Everardines hope to preserve the good aspects of human life that were carefully cultivated through centuries of our history. By saying we wish to preserve the past, we do not romanticize the horrendous days of a Lord-Protector beheading people at will, or soldiers committing genocides against non-humans. Rather, we wish to counter the rapid urbanization and modernization of Oren: giving space to those that wish for their agrarian lifestyles and unique identities to remain. 

 

TURNING THE NENZING PROCLAMATION INTO LAW, so that the rights of a civil society and benevolent government become an obligation, and not an ideology. Through this we can assure democracy, freedom and prosperity in the Empire continues. 

 

CULTURAL SELF-DETERMINATION ACT, so that each culture within the Empire can petition to be formally recognized and thus considered by policymakers on matters of social norms, land distribution and cultural celebrations. 

 

ELVEN HOMELAND INITIATIVE, which ensures that Elves remain among their own kind, to proliferate their culture and maintain their own city, polity, and neighborhoods under the Empire. The equality of the Elven People is not in question, as they too have the right to vote and become Imperial citizens; however, it is in the best interest of the Elven People to settle in their own towns and partake in their own forms of cultural exchange. Marriage among Elves is a necessity, as the Elven People are barren after a mere four-centuries of life, and struggle to conceive offspring. When a half-breed is born, they inherit both the curses of Horen and Malin, and are short-lived and infertile -- an injustice to the Eldar Blood. 

 

THE CHURCH MATTERS TOO ACT, so that the government maintains intimate dialogue with the Holy Canonist Church about what social reforms and cultural developments please the faithful of the Empire and which undermine the moral authority of Canonism, by hiring clergymen as advisors to the government.
