Ambitions on becoming a GM

This is a little post I'am making just to clear a few gray areas.

So YOU want to become a GM?

Becoming a GM is more than just what some of you think it may be. You must understand that a GM is the backbone of the server. We are here to keep order, best we can. Without us, there is anarchy, and chaos. We try our best to keep balance and equality.

Thing I look for when choosing a GM:

While making a GM application is sometimes considered the first step. It really isn't. When you think about applying to become a GM, stop and think to yourself first. Have you done anything in the past to help the players in the server? Such as answering questions in OOC, lending a hand to a fellow newbie that might be struggling. Offering some advice to two people arguing and offering your own non biased opinion? These are things that I myself look for in players that I feel deserve the right to become a GM. Take these simple foot notes and apply it to your everyday role playing experience here on Lord of the Craft. Not only will it make the server better as a whole for everyone, but will also help us in choosing you as a GM, should you inspire to become one.

Thank you for reading my little post. I hope this helps those out there that wish one day they can help the server a little bit more than they feel they already do.

What is it is to be a GM for me is offering your patience, your time and your absolute unbiased view on scenarios to create an environment for each and every player, no matter their status.

To create a place for everyone to encounter dynamic scenarios that their actions manipulate.

You must be able to enter scenarios without any bias and with the both parties represented fairly. And to ultimately solve disputes without the need for the BanHammer.

This world becomes more vibrant everyday, and the amount of work EVERY player has contributed has created a very beautiful place.

Very well written, both of you! This should help clear up the inundation of GM apps by new players we're having.~

They don't seem to realize that being a GM restricts your personal RP to help the server's RP as a whole, and that you should enjoy being able to develop your own character with minimal restrictions before taking a administrative position.

That being said, I don't think that being a GM is bad, not at all. People just need to experience LotC as a player before taking the mantle of a GM.

Thank you for posting this as I see many many people who I've never heard of apply. Enjoy the server first then work to be a gm as I'm sure its A LOT of work.

Both of these posts were very helpful, and thank you for posting this! Both of the first two posts give me something to think about, and continue to try to work on. I will continue to help in anyways I currently can.

@Freya I agree completely, I have seen people who apply to become a GM before even getting accepted onto the server.

So many people want to become a GM because they want the fame and the power of being a Gm. I hope this post shows these people that there is a lot more to being a GM then just being important.

Also thank you for posting this on here. It will help me greatly in composing my application and I’m sure many others

It's so true that the GMs have given up much of their roleplaying time to help us, and many of them have worked their way up. As I've said before, becoming a GM isn't just gonna happen, you need to earn it first!

I personally agree with this post. However I disagree with the idea of gms handle mod reqs. I think that gms should be allocated certain areas/cities/nations. From this they will be able to familiarise themselves with the local people and be easier to contact. Though saying this I still think that there should be a number of gms operating over the entire world of aegis. This is not the best idea but can certainly be elaborated. Anyway good post. Thank you

Although many times, Those GMs are not on. Most times on the server, theres 1-3 GMs on, If one GM is on and another person from another area wants help, No one will be able to help them. In my opinion, the Mod-Reqs we have now are fine and there is no need to change them.

Hmm. yes I suppose so. Thanks for reading it anyway.

Hmmm... so to hit the highlights, you would need to be helpful in all areas. Non-biased thought is required. Knowing a good chunk of the lore would be helpful. Have I missed anything else?

Also would it increase your chances if you are accepted as an FM first?

Honestly, though I don't select the GMs, I like people who are pleasant, friendly, and responsible. It's not about how l33t your experience is. I'm sure that Native and Danie think, "Do I really want to hear this person on GM chat every day? Will this person be fun as well as helpful?"

The real question they ask is, can they make funny memes?
