livrose 1594 Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2021 Positions Within the Court of Hanseti-Ruska A Document Detailing the Various Positions of Court, and Their Duties As penned by HER LADYSHIP, the Grand Lady, Rosalind Amador de Astrea and HIS LORDSHIP, Ailred Ruthern, Secretary to the Grand Lady On the date of 367 ES ✤ Grand Lady ✤ At the top of the palace hierarchy reigns the Grand Lady, charged with ensuring all of their vacant positions are filled and thereafter managed. They oversee the workings of the Custodian of the Palace and the Court Chamberlain, ensuring the quality of the events that they hold -- often inputting their own insightful feedback, offering a hand in organising and putting them into motion. However, the Grand Lady is mainly seen and tasked with being the working eyes of a well-oiled machine, filling in the parts, and seeing that they work properly. As thought to be venerable and exceedingly competent, the Grand Lady uses their natural inner drive to push forth excellency, seeing that all court staff conduct their duties appropriately. They also use their cognition and understanding to hold lessons, and to teach others how to perform their roles; to a tee. One who holds the title of the job, is expected to bear the patience of such, acting as a figurehead both internally for the Kingdom, and externally. Requiring the utmost expertise in penmanship, this is due to them drafting either official missives, or personal letters for the reigning Koenas, or other members of the Queen’s council. Their help is also extended to organising and planning events, and of course, detailing such in public invitations or announcements. During sessions of meetings between the council, the duties of Secretary of the Grand Lady include scribing minutes, which are to be handed into the Grand Lady for review. Like many of the other courtly positions, this role is about as useful as one makes it -- spanning from mere scribing, to assisting and partnering with the Grand Lady every step of the way. [Contact: Biggestdon #1234] ✤ Palace Custodian ✤ The Custodian of the Palace is responsible for the general upkeep and event holding for the palace and Royal Family, as well as having their input in the running of servantry within the establishment. Their duties detail that they hold such events within the confines of the Palace, including dinners and palace-based gatherings, but this does not hinder them entirely. It is encouraged, like all other staff, that they work with the Chamberlain of Council, holding and organising events between the two. If either the Palace Custodian or Chamberlain are vacant, while only one is held, the Custodian or Chamberlain in question takes on both responsibilities of the positions. This is until either spot is filled. It is expected that they ensure proper culture and etiquette is upheld within the palace by all courtiers. [Contact: kayla#9479] ✤ Court Chamberlain ✤ In contrast to the Custodian of the Palace, the Court Chamberlain ensures that the streets of Hanseti-Ruska are always bustling with whirl and cheer. The position holds the same esteem as the Custodian of the Palace, but the status of the two differs. This is due to the Custodian inherently requiring more trust and experience than the latter. Their events follow as this, but are not limited otherwise: festivals, tournaments, market activities and or theatrical fetes. The Chamberlain of the Council is expected to work alongside the elected Maer of the City, collaborating on projects, for the overall betterment of the Kingdom. It is expected that they too ensure proper culture and etiquette is upheld within the palace by all courtiers. [Contact: s.#6245] ✤ Head of Servantry ✤ The Head of Servantry works alongside the Custodian, sharing the larger half of responsibility amongst the employed servants. A busy palace is seen to be a good one, so their duties extend to them hiring and training servants primarily and upholding an operative presence. They are to create opportunities of activity within the circle of servantry; hosting events for the staff to attend. The role of servant staff in the palace includes a wide manner of tasks, to and from: general servantry within the palace, serving food, waiting on visitors, cleaning, and attending to members of the Royal Family. The Head of Servantry must ensure every staff member is active amongst the palace and contributing to its welfare whilst also ensuring that each member of council is protected and continues to feels welcome. [Vacant] ✤ Event Collaborators ✤ The Event Collaborators of the council are delegated the smaller events, acting as a stepping stone into further positions within the Koenas’ Council. It is here where they learn to hone their organisational skills, planning and hosting events under the guidance of the Chamberlain, Custodian and the Grand Lady. For larger scale events they operate in a collaborative effort alongside various members of the council, ensuring such festivities run smoothly but should take initiative to create their own. While the tolerance for collaborators of the court is high, and eager to educate all, lethargism will not be tolerated; all are expected to put in their all, and respect is something to be deserving of, and not just given. ✤ Court Historian ✤ The Court Historian is a position for those who are the epitome of sagacity. Tasked with the noble duty of ensuring culture is maintained and upheld in court, it is no easy feat. Being inherently sage, their duties may extend to offering advice to members of the court in times of need, drawing knowledge from history books and past events to apply it to present problems. They are to teach the history of the realm if so asked and aid in the keeping of records, working alongside the Palace Library. It is expected that the Court Historian acts as a general advisor to those in court in all historical matters. [Contact: Total #3263] ✤ Court Governess ✤ The Court Governess is the perfect embodiment of proper etiquette, mannerisms and the likes. They hold great esteem within themselves, and always conduct themselves dutifully and with high regard for the Palace, and those who dwell inside. Their focus is typically set upon teaching etiquette and their mannerisms. Children of the Royal Family are the main subject of the Court Coverness’ teaching. However, children of other members of the Koenas’ Council are entitled to the same upbringing. This includes positions such as the Grand Lady, the Palace Custodian, the Chamberlain and Head of Servantry. The Governess may organise day trips for the children under their guidance, whilst ensuring the children receive a well-rounded education as they grow. Their worldly, and remarkable abilities provide fundamental advice and knowledge in which they shall advise the King, and all others who need such. As example, the Court Mage should have the knowledge to deal with supernatural occurrences, or other magical and malicious threats. Seeing as the Court Mage holds significant importance in times of need, they either need to be: a formidable sorcerer, and or, a sorcerer holding a great area of knowledge on a vast amount of matters. [Contact: Jcbeno#6694] ✤ Court Poet ✤ The Court Poet entails their duty in the title, they write poems and prose, and either perform them during feats, balls or other events of the Kingdom. It is also presumed that the Court Poet be a patriot for their nation, and the beloved monarchs. Spreading the good word of their people, Kingdom, faith and love for their art; poetry, and writing. With poetry comes a natural knack for writing and such, so they might assist the Secretary to the Grand Lady, but only if such is needed. Otherwise, and in case of absence of the Secretary, their writing proficiency can be extended to all of those in the court. [Vacant] ✤ Master of the Hunt ✤ The Master of the Hunt garners the respect of many, either being a prestigious noble, or one with considerable prestige and expertise on the knowledge of ‘the Hunt’ itself. They organise and hold hunting events, routinely with the other noblemen of the realm; women can attend, but that is entirely at the behest of the current Master of the Hunt. They can run other events for the noblemen of Haense. Their hunted game can be taken back to their keeps, or holds, as prizes and familial treasures. Or, gifts of this game can be present to the Kingdom, so more than the hunting group can enjoy such, and eat until their heart's content. For larger game, such as bucks or bears, if the carcass is not too tarnished, the bodies can be taxidermied and preserved -- again, for their own halls in their holds, or as gifts to the Royal Family. [Vacant] ✤ Physician to the Royal Family ✤ The Physician to the Royal Family is held by a well experienced physician, holding many years of medical practice under their belt. The purpose of such a position is to ensure the immediate medical safety of the Royal Family, practicing various medical procedures whenever nature may call for such. The Royal Family may call upon the Physician to treat any wounds they may have, as well as assisting in births and even treating that of whoever the Royal Family asks of the Court Physician. Due to the high rank and importance of this position, the Physician to the Royal Family must have a wide range of medical knowledge and must be able to perform said medical procedures in emergency situations. [Vacant] ✤ Court Alchemist ✤ The Court Alchemist is a most coveted and important position within the Royal Courts, providing useful and unique items which can provide medical help or even interesting displays of alchemy to the courts. Courtiers are encouraged to seek out the Court Alchemist and inquire about the many kinds of items the alchemist can provide and create. Those who seek to occupy this position within the Royal Courts must have an extensive knowledge of alchemy, being able to provide a wide variety of creations. An imaginative mind is also useful for such a position as the creativity of an alchemist often determines their success. [Vacant]
