THE FOLLOWING CHARGES WERE BROUGHT AGAINST THE DEFENDANT;

402.01: An individual who intentionally kills another shall be guilty of the severe offence of murder;

416.071: The crime of harming or attempting to bring harm, or kidnapping or attempting to kidnap, the Crown or the royal family shall constitute a treasonous offence;

THE FOLLOWING IS THE VERDICT BROUGHT BY THE JOVENAARS;

Jovenaar Kortrevich, joined by Jensen and Vyronov;

The Defendant, Matthieu, is found guilty by unanimous consent on the charges of Harm to the Crown and Murder, to which the punishment is death by hanging and stoning. The highest possible punishment is maintained, despite the defendant’s attempt to plead insanity, which were denied by the Surgeon-General.

THE FOLLOWING IS THE RATIONALE FOR THE DECISION FROM THE PRESIDING JOVENAAR;

On the charge of Murder;

Jovenaar Kortrevich delivered the opinion of the court:

The combined witness statements of Stefan B. Vyronov and Teresa piece together the situation. While the testimony of Vyronov did not confirm the identity of the killer, it did confirm that Isabel of Valwyck had suffered multiple stab wounds, particularly to the heart, before she was pushed off the balcony. Subsequently, the witness testimony of Teresa, who had been present on the balcony opposing the pair, confirmed that Matthieu had been behind Isabel of Valwyck and pushed her off. The defendant was incapable of disproving that he had stabbed Isabel of Valwyck and pushed her off the balcony.

On the charge of Harm to the Crown;

Jovenaar Kortrevich delivered the opinion of the court:

As the defendant is found  guilty in committing the murder of Isabel of Valwyck, he is, as a consequence of committing an act of murder upon a member of the Royal Family, in this case, the Queen-Mother, subsequently found guilty of Harm to the Crown.

It is so ordered.
