“Symanski’s Brigades, prior to the Battle of Kwarwy.”

The year is 1740 FVC, and it has been only a bare seven months since the disastrous Imperial defeat at the hands of Radzimir Pasha, in the narrow confines of Kwarwy Pass. With the Emperor, Ioan VII, killed, and much of the Empire’s leadership similarly slaughtered, the policy of both the Sejm and the new Lord Regent, Janos Dusza, Duke of Prizeczs (brother to the late Emperor), has been to replace the dead officials as swiftly and efficiently as possible. With Ioan felled on the battlefield, Prizeczs has arranged for his infant son Maciej, a boy of barely four, to ascend the Imperial Throne as Ioan VIII, and the Duke now keeps a tight hold upon his young nephew.

Chaos has reigned across the Empire since Kwarwy, and the sudden (and unfavourable) peace that followed has left many mercenaries with neither continued employment, nor the pay originally promised to them. Most of these Free Companies have now resorted to open banditry to fill their purses and the areas around Arscea, Bihar and Karancanay have become especially inundated with dissatisfied soldiers of fortune.

Imperial weakness has not gone unnoticed, and for the first time in a decade, pirate galleys sail forth from Kemijar, to raid the inland sea of Kozeps and along the northern Imperial coast, causing much disruption along the important routes of trade and travel between Valgrym and the Empire. More alarming, perhaps, is the sudden presence of significant military buildup along both the Kemijari and Kopranian parts of the Valgrymian border. What the brother-Kings Henrikk and Kasper have in store, none can say, but Valgrym has already made an appeal for support to her senior partner, the Empire.

Kwarwy has crippled much of the Empire’s military leadership, and many of her State Armies. With the deaths of the Barons Frize and Szeged, leadership of both the Army of Northern Kiralska and the Army of Eastern Kiralska  has become vacant, though both are now heavily bereft of troops and material. With the Grand Duke of Arscea dead, the Empire also lacks a Captain-General, and the Imperial State Army lacks a Colonel-General, while the posts of three Electors are also open for election, the first election of such a scale in Imperial history.

-----------------------------

The Grand Duchy of Rzechsawa, the traditional heartlands of Dusza rule. Rzechsawa policy is always the same - what the Emperor wills, Rzechsawa wills, for it is his primary title. As of late, Rzechsawa has fallen into the governance of Janos, Duke of Prizeczs, who rules the Empire as Regent.

The Duchy of Prizeczs is one of the oldest titles in the Empire, and has traditionally been held by the eldest Imperial son. This tradition was broken when Emperor Jaszu II Dusza awarded it to his second born son, Janos, who has held it ever since. Janos is an ambitious man, and he maintains a heated rivalry with his neighbours, the Kingdom of Valcea. The Duke currently rules as Regent, but maintains close ties with many in this region, especially the neighbouring County of Bartkow. Prizeczs is an Elector.

The Kingdom of Valcea is the largest state within the Empire, and the strongest bastion of Jozsefite sentiment. Ruled by the House of Radulescu, Valcea takes a line of hostility to her neighbours, especially Janos Dusza’s Prizeczs, and his allies in Culrath and Bartkow. The King of Valcea, Mikhail X, has long opposed the monopoly the Dusza have held on the Imperial Throne, and is unreserved in his open attempts to oppose them at every turn. Valcea is an Elector.

The Grand Duchy of Arscea is a small region, famed for its staunch support of the Vaseric Church, its loyalty to the Imperial House of Dusza and its particularly savage hatred of the Trazmiri. With the previous Grand Duke-Elector slain in the Battle of Kwarwy, Jan Antoniewicz has inherited the title, and the Elector’s Seat. Arscea is an Elector.

The Kingdom of Rowne was once the largest and most powerful state in the eastern half of the Empire, but years of infighting and unsuccessful territory grabs have left the Kingdom bereft of allies and depleted of troops. King Siegfried I, having recently inherited the throne from his brother, seeks to reverse his Kingdom’s ill fortunes, and to reclaim some of Rowne’s old lands. Rowne is an Elector.

The Barony of Frize is a fairly unimportant and poor fiefdom, that gained notoriety from the great military skill of its previous Baron, Aleksy Symanski. Symanski fell in the Battle of Kwarwy, ostracised and neglected by the Emperor, following the unsuccessful campaign around Arscea. His eldest son, Aleksander, a staunch Jozsefite, has since inherited the Barony, and makes no secret of his distrust of the Dusza.

The Duchy of Szwale is a sorry state, for it has lost all influence it once possessed. Previously married into the Dusza and possessors of an Elector’s Seat, Szwale lost all relevance when the previous Duke fell and Kwarwy, and the entire Duchy passed to a minor branch of the Hervencz family. Eager to use his new authority to advance his ambitions, the young Duke Bogdan seeks new allies and benefactors in his quest for power and renown.

One of only two states like it in the Empire, Vsezprem is a Commonwealth, where all men are equal before God. Proud Jozsefites, Vsezprem is remarkably unpopular, especially amongst the traditional Vaseric nobility, for its “populist” beliefs. Still, the Commonwealth is a large and capable military power, and few are eager to jump brazenly into war against one of the foremost bastion of Jozsefism.

The League of Kara is the largest trade alliance sitting on the Southern Ocean. Mostly unconcerned with territorial conflicts and Imperial wars in general, Kara troubles itself only with maintaining its advantages over Estergaard, its primary trade rival. The League has fought several unofficial conflicts with the maritime Kingdom over the years, and maintains a strong navy as a result. Sigismund Borch heads the League, and also holds an Elector’s Seat, the only Free City representative to do so.

The County of Bartkow is ruled by Czesiak Bartkowitz, a loyal ally to the Elector-Duke of Prizeczs, Jan Dusza. Bartkow has long been a bitter enemy of Valcea, and both have fought viciously in the past, usually at Bartkow’s expense. As such, the Count is always eager to knock his larger, Jozsefite neighbour down a peg or two. Bartkow is an Elector.

The Mac Cabas of Culrath are the largest and most powerful of the many Dzikny clans along the Western Border. Resettled for generations, the Mac Caba are remarkably Imperialised and, unlike the other Dzikny, they tend to march to war in the Imperial fashion. Pragmatic people, The Mac Cabas are Jozsefites, but are still prominent supporters of the Regent, the Duke of Prizeczs.

A far more recent addition to the border of the Wold, the Ua Tomnhair are far more traditionalist than the Imperialised Mac Caba, and they still follow many of the Old Ways, often taking pilgrimages across the border into the great unknown of the Wold. Insular and isolationist, the Ua Tomnhair defend the border territories, and provide mercenaries at an extortionate rate, but otherwise for no interact with the greater Empire.

The Barony of Szeged is a march along the Kemijari border. Mostly irrelevant, Szeged is remarkable only for two things - one, it is the only fiefdom in the Empire ruled by an ethnic Kemijari and, two, the Baron of Szeged, Kalevi Makinen, inherited the Barony from his father, Kalevi, who served as Sterzstadt-General for the region, and was slain at Kwarwy. Szeged follows the Ascetic.

The Kingdom of Varkul is a large state, in the central area of the Eastern Empire. Ruled by King Andor V Horvat, Varkul is staunchly Vaseric, and incredibly hostile towards its neighbour, the Commonwealth of Vsezprem. Despite its Vaseric nature, Varkul is largely ambivalent to Janos Dusza, and it is well known that King Andor considers him to be a perfidious and shallow fellow.

The County of Rasco sits upon the Kozeps Sea, and relies largely upon trade to serve as the basis of its economy. Staunchly Jozsefite, Rasco is tucked away in an unseen corner of the Empire, and its pleas often go unheard in the Vaseric dominated Sejm. Ruled by Count Vuk Brankovic, Rasco maintains close ties with the likes of Valcea, to defend Jozsefite interests.

The County of Krysta is a territory bordering Durkov and the resettled Dzikny states. Ruled by Han Kalinszi, Krsyta has been allied to Durkov for years, and is as staunchly Jozsefite as the Duchy. Both are hostile to the nearby border barbarians.

Ruwa is a large shipbuilding city, settled along the far north-western reaches of the Southern Ocean. A powerful Free City, Ruwa is the home of many shipwrights, and the city provides ships from simple whalers to large, dedicated galleons, built for the fury of battle. As a result of this, Ruwa maintains close relations with Kara, and the burghers of Ruwa often advocate war with Estergaard. Vaseric.

The Duchy of Durkov is a small province, ruled by the cripple-Duke, Balazs Kalinzsi. Constantly subjected to raids, by both pirates and Dzikny raiders from the Wold, Kalinzsi holds a bitter hatred of the Dzikny savages, and is forced to maintain a fairly potent military in order to defend his territory. A long ally of the County of Krysta, Durkov is extremely hostile to the nearby Dzikny states, even those resettled within the Empire. Jozefite.

Foldz is a minor Free City in the Northern Empire, on the Kozeps Sea. Often falls victim to sea raiding. Vaseric.

A minor Free City, but one of the most important whaling towns in the Empire, Siofok’s only interests are to protect her stake in the whaling trade from the ambitions of the larger and more powerful League of Kara. Vaseric.

The largest and most important river port in the Empire - if not the world. Szrachaven sits high in the mountains, across an old Imperial road. From there, it sails goods downstream, where they then travel across the Kozeps Sea. Szrachaven maintains its great wealth and prominence due to its position - to effectively reach the Kozeps Sea, all central Imperial trade must travel through it.

Vazyrow, the seat of His Holiness, the Patriarch. Vazyrow is an unusual city as, while it is within the borders of the Empire, it is not subject to Imperial law. The Patriarch has ruled here, from Saint Petran’s Cathedral, since the foundation of the Church by Saint Petran himself. It is here, on the very steps of the Church’s holiest site, that Jozsef the Ascetic condemned the Vaseric Faith, and the Church has sought to violently oppose Jozsefism wherever it may, ever since.

---------------------------

County of Chrósty

Chrósty is a fief made not for the meek or weak of heart, it stands as a northern bastion of the Vaseric Church against the Kemijar and even Imperial Fiefs that have fallen to the Jozsefite ways. Even now the Count will find himself tested at both the national border against the Northerners and his supposed Imperial colleagues to the South, with pirate galleys raiding the lake that both Kiralski and Kemijar with little in the way of hindrance from their native Kingdom and its government. To the south outlaws, deserters and miscreants have continually nipped at the heels of Chrósty taking grain, women and weapons. But the men and soldiers of this County are a hardy folk and will not suffer brigand or buccaneer for long.

County of Budivel

The County itself is inside of what can be considered the strongest heartlands of Jozsefites in the Empire, with the Commonwealth of Vzesprem across the sea and the Commonwealth of the Golden Horn to its South. Its coasts are relatively well protected due to its proximity to many potential allies however therein lies a soft underbelly of the Glittering Woods. The Changeling Tribes in the South offer fair warning to the Count and his Soldiers not to cross too far into their territory, peasants tell tales of entire villages disappearing in retaliation to any notion of aggression. How will the Count deal with these Heathens who prey upon his people?

Holy March of Mis

Beyond the fiendish mountains, through the hellish woods, lies the bitter and divided land of Orchemya, where dwell a race of angry, violent giant-folk. It is with these giants that the brave men of Mis must contend, for only they can stand as the Empire’s defense against these unholy beasts. Blessed by God above, Mis stands with Jozsef, united against the depredations of every sacrilegious and impious faith that blights the face of the Empire...

County of Balcescu

One of the few places a commoner might consider nice and prosperous in the East to settle given its protection on all sides by various Marches and its proximity to the Capital itself. The Lords of Balcescu are well loved by their people for their perceived good rule and protection of their fields. However banditry and brigands are on the rise as deserters from both the Imperial Army and the Eastern Kiralski Army have begun to litter the once peaceful Countryside of Balcescu. All is not grim however as the famed Mercenary Company native to the County the Bastards of Balcescu is said to be marching home for the coming Winter so that its soldiers might spend this time with their families as the campaigning season draws to its conclusion.

Clan Siurdan

Across a great distance marched the men, women and children of Siurdan, shepherded by their great leader. Through hills, mountains, streams and fens, the young warrior lead his people, until they reached the fertile land of the Empire, where they raided until they were granted acceptable concessions. But the plights of Clan Siurdan are not yet over, for she is surrounded by fickle neighbours and disdaining masters, and the call of the Old Ways, of tree and river, dampens from its mighty roar, to a lonely sigh...

March of Bihar

Bihar suffered greatly in the closing days of the Fourth Trazmir War, and of all Imperial territories, only she is capable of projecting the intense hatred the Traitor, Radzimir, truly reserves. She must bide her time now, looking across the border towards that perfidious fiend, but the leaders of the March know that the day of reckoning will soon be at hand, and that they shall have their chance to punish the Snake...

The Commonwealth

Built by the grubby hands of ragged peasant pikemen, the Commonwealth is a living example of open rebellion against the Imperial norm. Though it has existed for many years now, and publicly maintains its obligations to the Emperor, none within the great heights of the state truly feel comfortable with the open rule of uneducated peasants. Though the Commonwealth stands proud, it is surrounded by neighbours who hate the very concept of its existence, especially with its proud support of the hated Ascetic...

County of Przeworsk

An old and prestigious realm within the Empire, Przeworsk is a land laden with both great sailors and skilled craftsmen. The men of Przeworsk are masters of shipbuilding, and their warships have long been a famed sight throughout the Empire. But their greatness comes with a cost, for both Ruwa and Estergaard look upon the maritime state with envy and hate, and across the Southen Ocean, the fleets of Trazmir ever stir….

Turn 1

The County of Chrosty

-Music-

Riding down the roads of the ancients, a wide stone road kept in perfect repair by the magic it was imbued with, a troop of Imperial Hussars approach the gates of Somlniki. Clearly marked in the colours of the Chrósty, their feathered wings rustle as they ride in. At the head of the column, bedecked in black, is count Witold Książek the Marcher Count of Chrósty. One of the ugliest nobles in the empire, his face a mess of scars from both disease and violence, the Count is a well liked figure by the city folk.

The procession makes its way through the engine city, the magical lighting flickering on as people gather under heated sections outside taverns as the night starts to fall. The troop enter the keep of Smolniki, the bastion walls bedecked in cannon, the new Arcano Flame-Cannons facing onto the causeway. The city, awash in light, is fuelled by several small augustine engines, allowing the populace to live an easier life in this frozen north.

As he stalks the halls of his keep, Witold halts before a portrait of his deceased son. He looks at Dobrogost, like his father in temperament but his mother in looks, and takes a moment to mourn his passing. The all black of Witold would halt on this day, the count promised himself. He sighed as he went to mount the stairs of the fortress-keep, going to find his wife, Klara, a princess of Rowne.

Klara, having been pregnant before Witold left for the Sejm, was due soon, Witold recalled. Tired, dusty and hungry, the count opens the door to the bed chambers. Klara, in bed, is holding a child. A baby, Witold’s child. The count pauses, his eyes taking in the sight as his wife speaks from the bed,

“He looks just like Dobrogost did… We’ll name him after his brother, a hero of the Empire.”

Weeks later, Witold and the Hussars ride out, nodding to the newest general he had hand picked from his retinue. Behind the shining line of cavalry is a series of Chrósty shock troops. Witold has heard of the bandits to the south, the havok they have started to play on his border. Having had enough, he marches to the ancient roads and they will crush these knaves, crossing into his neighbour if need be.

They pass the masons and architects, the Arcano engineers amongst them, for they are preparing to add to a town to build a new Engine City, having secured Vaserium at the latest Sejm.

The Kwarwy Mountains, Nysa ranges

“Suffer not the brigand, for they not only prey on the innocence of our society, but the very fabric of it also - a good brigand is a dead one, in all sense of it.”

Sir Michal, Imperial Grandmaster of Kwarwy following the announcement of Operation Freedom Enduring to the Knights of the Order.

THE MARCH OF BIHAR

1740 FVC

1-6 months

“They're summoning us to the Imperial Capital, during the harvest season, while deserters plague the Crownlands? Has the Snake knocked a few screws loose in the Regent’s mind?” Istvan rambled on the complaints to his accountant, who had just presented the Margrave with his letter of summons - a girl of the same age as his granddaughter. The morning sun had just pierced through the windows of his office, which only served to aggravate the Lordling further.

“Vaseric damn this fool - bloody noble obligations. I swear I oughtta...” he continued murmuring as he stacked his papers neatly together prior to raising himself from his chair. The aged Knight draped himself in his Order’s cloak, and almost commenced to leave his office prior to being interrupted by his assistant,

“Sir, your sword.” she said, pointing to the chair Istvan had just departed as her other hand kept a hold on the documents Istvan had just left on his desk. It was his son’s sword, a sword that was given to him as he was deployed, a sword which he had carried on him at the Battle of Kwarwy Pass, a sword which saved himself, but not his son. The blade hung by the chair’s edge, comfortably snugged in its sheath, taunting Istvan’s memories.

“Ah, damn.” he replied with a cough, backtracking hastily to the chair to retrieve the armament. “Nagyon köszönöm, my dear.” said Istvan thankfully in his own native Falzsprzem as he left behind his dusty confines. The blade was now strapped to his waist, making his way through the Margravial Palace of Binarks.

An entourage was already assembled at the base of the Palace’s entryway, the intuitive accountant having already issued for the assembly of the Order’s Knights. Istvan’s horse was presented to him, and the group made off without any other preparations. The ancient Imperial Highways throughout the Margrave’s territories would see to it that he received the sustenance required to continue a hasty journey to the Imperial Capital of Rzeschaw.

Istvan stopped on the edge of the palatial grounds, for it was at this location that his son and wife were buried along with his own marital partner, nestled under a pleasant oak tree that overlooked the coastal city and its ocean. The skies were alike the ocean in color, and free of clouds, leaving Istvan with a sorrow filled smile as he made his way forth down into the City.

By all means, Binarks was a beautiful city - its architecture was undergoing renovations following its partial razing seven months ago, the people were filled with hope and dedication, and the weather was always pleasant. The common people bowed, or curtsied in the presence of Istvan, who reciprocated with waves of a hand, or smiles. The land and its people had hooked the vagabond Istvan, who thereafter decidedly planted his roots in the region, having married the daughter of the late Margrave decades ago, and was later accepted as a member of the family - while creating his own.

There was work to be done however, and Istvan’s entourage finally escaped the borders of Binarks, making good progress along the Highways. There were reports of rogue mercenaries plaguing certain regions of Bihar, but the ancient roadways were always kept secured and patrolled by the Knights of the Order of Kwarwy. Grandmaster Michal was already on the hunt for the brigands as it were, so the journey was accomplished with minimal effort.

A sight like no other, the Grand Imperial Capital, Rzechsaw, soon appeared in the horizon, ships by the dozens left and entered its confines, as it lay home to the largest canal system in the known world. Its walls stood strong, guarding the Imperial Palace which loomed over the vast stretches of the City, with the occasional dragon spotted circling its skies. Its interiors left much to be desired, at least according to Istvan - wherein the Knight preferred the quaint peripheral cities of the Empire, he disliked the bustling activity that was found within the Capital. An issue which seemed to no longer bother him, as his recent promotion to the title of Margrave parted the crowds of commoners before him during his entry into the City.

In his youth, Istvan could never have imagined to occupy lodgings so close to the Imperial Palace, but yet, in a twist of fate, here he is with his entourage, in a manor dedicated for nobility. The gaudiness and faux splendor was uncomfortable, but nevertheless a milestone in his achievements. His thoughts had to wait, for the Sejm soon called the nobles to assembly.

Binarks, Margravial Palace, Moon-wing

Whilst Istvan was meandering out and about, the governance of the March was left in the trusted hands of the Bihar Council, an appointed group of skilled individuals assembled in the same fashion as the Imperial Council in Rzeschaw. Their selection followed an initiative on the Margrave's part immediately after his ennoblement. A few months later, after an extensive examination process, the Council saw to its new occupants.

On this particular day, these individuals found themselves gathered around a table, pouring over an array of documents and the likes. Most curiously was a replica map of the layout of the Battle for Kwarwy Pass, made to the best of their abilities anyway.

With a sigh of exasperation, the Minister of Coin, Nikola Nowak exclaimed, “Why exactly do we need to look over all this, like so? Can’t we just accept that Ioan’s losses were a result of his lack of forward observers?”

“Not quite, Nikolas.” replied the Commander of the Palatial Guards, Jakub Bales, himself playing around with the models on the aforementioned map. “The Imperial Armies had such an advantage in numbers, both in common soldiers, and officers, that they should have been able to have salvaged this battle themselves following the death of the Emperor and Grand Duke.” Said the Guardsman as his index tapped the location of Imperial pieces on the battle map. “I suppose many would try to flee when seeing the Imperial Dragon falling from the sky. But being trapped in the Pass doesn't allow for much in movement terms, I'd imagine. Which expresses the current fundamental flaws in the formations of our army units.”

Minister Nowak throws up his arms in defeat following Bales’ explanation, returning to a state of irritated silence.

The Minister of Arms, Vitek Araszkiewicz chimed in, “Yes, our current understanding of warfare is what lost us that day. We must inquire, for the sake of future lessons, precisely how did 12,000 enemy combatants defeat an army of 50,000. Questionable… leadership, is the foremost concern, followed by adept use of terrain on the Trazmiri part. But like Sir Jakub had previously mentioned, our static formations of large bulks of infantry most likely caused us our loss.”

“I can see damn why, hah!” bursted out the Minister of Ships, Aleks Nagy - he pointed to the clustered congregation of Imperial pieces on the battle map, in which they all seemed to clash with each other due to their sizes. “They probably couldn't do a damn when the Traitor corralled them all, and peppered them with cannon balls and the likes.”

“Exactly so, our multinational Imperial Army struggled in both tactical cohesion and communication, exacerbated by their bulky and cumbersome brigades. I believe that not one of our main guns were able to return fire as the Army clogged up the Pass.” Vitek concludes, crossing his arms over his torso.

“Some alterations to our array of forces will need to be made - the common consensus so far being the elongation of a unit’s width. The more of our arquebusiers being utilized, well, the more damage we can output, obviously. Hit the enemy pikes with a proper volley, and they’ll crumble in the ensuing melee.” The Mister of Arms cleared his throat, arranging some of the pieces of the board to resemble his current tactical inputs. “I believe Jakub mentioned earlier that attaching a pair of light cannons to a unit will allow for greater flexibility and capabilities of our artillery, though we’ll need to continue experimenting how severely that may affect a unit’s overall mobility.”

“Can’t do much about experiments right now, with the Grandmaster having taken the Provincial Army with him to quell the bandits.”

“Right, we’ll have to wait on them for further implementation, then.”

COUNTY OF PRZEWORSK

___________________________________________________________________________

A cool, spring wind blew along the southern shores of Przeworsk, ever so gentle but enough to keep a man alert. At the harbor, the smell of sea-salt was carried inland, combining with the suffocating smoke of working kilns and forges and the fresh catches of the morning to create an unholy, but homely olfactory mix. Count Mariusz would often make rounds to the docks, albeit not gracefully as he once did, to not only assess the conditions and needs of his subjects, but to gaze out to sea. By all metrics, Mariusz was a cripple, and has been for some time. It is that he had lost proper function to his legs, during a sailing accident many years ago. He was a seaman at heart and could bear the great ocean’s trials no longer, for there was no place on a ship for a man that hobbled; relying on a cane so as to not topple over. Naturally, Mariusz was devastated, falling into a long internal battle about his self worth. Yet, it would be his father to rescue him from his slump, confiding to his son that meaning could be found through other channels. So Mariusz did pick up the pieces, dedicating himself to a life of service, honing his skills as an administrator and politician, and raising a son all the while.

Many years would pass and many conflicts would the Empire engage in. None of which Mariusz meaningfully partook, as his condition left him relegated to the rearlines. As much as Mariusz wanted to lead from the front and give his life gloriously in the name of the Emperor, it was not his place. He would be a fool to even entertain such a notion. Instead, his father took the Przeworski fleet to sea, to do battle among distant waters, earning many accolades against the Trazmiri foe.

That is, until disaster struck. An unsuspecting day, would bring about crippling news as Mariusz enjoyed dinner with his wife and adolescent son. His father had died in action, while he had stayed home, enjoying comfort within the confines of his family’s palace. As far as they knew, he died at sea, when a Trazmiri struck the magazine of his father’s flag, eviscerating the ship in an instant with all hands presumed to be lost. Overcome with anger, he practically destroyed the table at which they dined, only settling down once restrained by his son. As Adrian held his father, he met his eye consolingly. It was then that Mariusz decided that Adrian would become everything that he wasn’t, hope to the Wrobl family, and a beacon to which the proud soldiers and sailors of Przeworsk would rally to.

He was proud of his son.

His son would return to him this day. The Count leaned upon the seawall, scoping out the horizon. In the distance, he could spot the hulking Man-of-War, PNS Tribune, anchored and having returned from her maiden voyage- a true leviathan, mounting an unfathomable amount of artillery and sails reaching towards the sky. She now served as the new flagship and pride of the Przeworski people, and captained by his son, Adrian. It was then that he spotted the shore party, a couple of rowboats methodically making their way closer, his son surely among them. The Count sighed in content, ready for his son to share the experience with him. He could only imagine how the Tribune cut through the seas, how she handled… Though he himself could sail no longer, he had done everything within his power to produce a sailor out of his heir. And that he did, and he could ask for nothing more.

The Count would relish in the opportunity to bond with his progeny, knowing that duty would inevitably call him away. Przeworsk was ready to meet any challenges thrown it’s way.

Balcescu County

General Grigor Burgoyn inspects his men as he rides down the lines. Days ago he and his officer cadre had been enjoying the luxuries of the Capital. But no longer, Count Dragomir having dispatched him orders on the fastest courier available. After the shattering of the Imperial Army more and more deserters have migrated west. Balcescu is one of the most prosperous eastern states, and in the Imperial Core to boot. So it was intolerable when word is spread of pillage and rapine within the County. The people of Balcescu were not one to take lightly to strangers pillaging their land. They prided themselves on the safety of the realm, regardless of what community you come from.

*It is in that spirit that in every city and town a notice is posted. Any deserter that wishes to restore his honor and gain amnesty must take up arms in the County Army. Any who take the deal for now will be kept safely under guard in warehouses and camps until the danger of bandits has passed. From there they shall be trained, and paid as regular soldiers.

**This offer of pardon will not however delay military operations. Even as the amnesty is being proclaimed, the County Militia is amassing. Men from all over Balcescu head to their barns, store houses, and closets. The time had come to dust off their armor, and sharpen their pike. Across the County small Bands of soldiers amass in their mustering points. Under the stern dual command of General Grigor, and General Iulien Mandruleanu, they were as well led as can be. The hunt will begin for the bandits. Teams of the Unique County Irregulars will range ahead of the companies, locating and skirmishing bandit groups. Their goal being to slow down or drive them into the soldiers. Across the county this pattern of relentless hunting will begin, the entire army mobilized against them.

Balcescu's Agent Tibus Olchensky is given a very special task. It was assured a fresh demand for Dragons will soon arrive. He is ordered to sniff out any contracts regarding the purchase of Dragons. He is given permission to act as he sees fit, and use a county bank statement guaranteeing 150,000 worth of Gold for the purchase of Dragons or even Dragon. The Count trust his agent to make the best call, to get the most Dragons, or even 1 in a worst case. 100 County Irregulars quietly tail him out of sight, to ensure he comes to no harm or foul business deals.

The Bastards of Balcesu mercenary band are given a very warm welcome home. Feast are thrown in their honor, and whatever compensation the County can spare for these men's valor.  Count Dragomir makes it known he hopes the Band will stay, and would be kept on his generous payroll. -10k Gold

EVENTS

As the initial shock of losing their Emperor along with a sizable portion of their fighting strength had begun to subside in time, those who would seek opportunity in the chaos of what came afterward begin to crawl out from the dens from which they hide in during the more orderly times of an Imperials reign. Outlaws, ambitious mercenaries, pirates and Lords who simply want more land have decided now was the time to strike out and make use of the current chaos and apparent weakness of the Empire.

In the Eastern Marches the Trazmiri Outlaw known to most as the ‘Black Scorpion’ begins to stir up trouble on the border with Bihar and all the way up to Arscea with little in the way of hindrance from his nominal liege lord who act as the Marcher Lords for the Trazmir. Crossing the border to raid caravans and villages far enough away from the patrols that he can slip back across the border before an adequate response can be formed.

Out West several bands flying  the banner of the Azure Wolf, Faolan have been spotted raiding across the countryside as it appears his company's ranks swelled to such a degree that the Changeling Outlaw is able to operate in several regions. He is quick to demand tribute of food, money and other valuable resources before raiding a territory giving the Lord in question a chance to avoid his ire. His exact location and numbers are still unknown to even the most cunning of spy rings in the Empire.

The Southern Oceans begin to tremble with the wrath of the Free Sail and Pirate, Karl Nilsson a native of Estergaard and opportunistic scoundrel having bounties placed on his head in both Estergaard and the Empire. His fleet begins to descend upon shipping but also begins acting as protection for Slavers who prey upon stretches of undefended coast. However this draws the attention of his rival the self titled corsair prince Sorrin.

However despite this the first Sejm managed to elect key positions in the Empire so that it might heal from the wounds inflicted at Kwarwy Pass, a new Marshal, a Treasurer and a Chancellor all found themselves ascendant. It was up to them how or even if the central Government would react to the issues that began cropping up across the Empire.

-----------------------------

PLAYERS

County of Chrósty

With the election of Count Witold to the position of Imperial Marshal, along with the overwhelming forces from the County itself the bandits are quickly routed or otherwise destroyed. Local Commanders hanging many and making many of them littered with hanging brigands. As such the commerce, production and taxation in the County is not disrupted due to the effectiveness of the Count and his forces.

County of Budivel

Despite the unfortunate affairs during his attempt to be elected to the Chancellery of the Empire the Count proved himself to be quick witted and formulated good arguments only failing in his election due to paranoia about Joszefites. Many other noblemen in the Empire would pay their respects to the Count during his stay in the Capital, many of them Vaserics.

Holy March of Mis

The Masked Margrave stirred up quite the storm in the Capital earning the respect of his more encouraged Joszefite peers. Nevertheless it was time to return to his March as the Giants were potentially troublesome. Not to mention many less than friendly neighbours nearby to him, he would know he was being carefully watched as to others he appeared unstable.

County of Balcescu

County Dragomir would prove once more to be a generous and kind lord, offering many passing deserters amnesty as they come into his County but also utilising his forces to wipe out brigands and outlaws who refuse to lay down their arms. The Bastards would accept the Counts' offer for the time being as they were very happy to winter in their homeland, while also assisting the state's soldiers.

Clan Siurdan

The Men of Clan Siurdan find themselves in the midst of two sides that are hostile to them, in the Wold they see the Clan as traitors and lapdogs to the Empire, Mac Cabas and Valcea see them as heathens. But they find fast friends with the Ua Tomnhair who quickly respond to an offer of marriage and offer a daughter and accept a pact of mutual defence. While the Count of Bartkow would also generally feel warm to the men of Siurdan, happy to host them in his halls.

March of Bihar

Brigands and Bandits in the interior of Bihar would find themselves quickly wiped off the face of the Empire, foolish of them to assume the Lion’s fangs were dulled by the Trazmir. However as the Lion was away, his den would be raided by the Trazmiri Border Outlaw known as the Black Scorpion as Bihar’s forces were focused on the interior and not the border due to the current truce.

The Commonwealth

A supposed bastion of equality and Joszefitism the so called ‘Diggers’ find themselves somewhat isolated due to this even among other Joszefites since they value the structure of nobility. Because of this many outlaws from the Company of the Azure Wolf are simply ‘guided’ one way or the other to raid the Commonwealth's borders. Peasants petition and plead to Stanislaw to fight back or do anything really to stop the Changeling led Company from doing any damage to their paradise. Faolan himself demands tribute from the Commonwealth and its Diggers.

County of Przeworsk

The might and renown of the sailors and ships from the County manage to scare off Karl Nilsson for the most part, his pirate fleet seeking to avoid engagements with the fine ships of Przeworsk allowing for much of the commerce in the South to go unimpeded. The Counts personal wants while in the Capital as the new Chancellor of State to find a Magitech Engineer to help him find a way to properly sort out his leg, he is in luck as in close proximity is Rufus Bartel who agrees to meet with the Count to discuss potential remedies.

Free City of Krupp

In the Free City it is an odd place even by current Imperial standards, ruled by a family from a fairly obscure and unknown culture that is largely absent from the rest of the Empire. However their culture has begun to trickle down at least in Engineering circles, since the family have a love for invention and innovation from both magitech and the mundane. Joszefism is particularly unwelcome in this City as they’re seen as luddites by the citizens and the nobles and this reputation is not helped with the radical sects of Joszefism that have sprung up in recent years.

County of Zadnesti

Centred in one of the Joszefite Strongholds in the Empire it is in an uneasy location due to its proximity to the Holy City of the Vaseric Church, this has presented some issues as the borderlands of the County seem to find itself more populated by Vaserics than Joszefites as the poor are more able to receive alms from the organised Church of the Vaserics. However despite this it is surrounded by potential friends in this sectarian world as it has Joszefites for all its neighbours in the North and its West.

March of Kosono

Sigismund of Kosono had made is proper debut in the first Sejm of the reign of the boy Emperor and he had done incredibly well to avoid the typical Sectarian traps many of his peers on both sides have fallen in before. He was now the Treasurer of the Empire and has repeatedly shown his intention to put the Empire before anything, he had won many friends both Vaseric and Joszefite who would all pay their respects to him during his stay in the Capital.

County of Karancanay

Some see the men of Karancanay as similar if not the same as the Dzikny in the West, however in the East they are respected among the Marchers as defenders against Trazmir. Oddly and publically Joszefite but are not involved in any Sectarian disputes. The Black Scorpion of Trazmir opted to avoid the Karancanay because of the fear of its Cavalry and its quick response time; it is among the stable Marcher States in the Empire.

THE MARCH OF BIHAR

1740 FVC

6-12 months

At the head of a column of infantry, upon horseback, Istvan finds himself chewing upon a straw of wheat, stripped from a bundle meant for the livestock wintering inside their barns. This part of the Empire never struggled much supplying itself, and the ancient Imperial Highway always allowed for good traffic year-round. Especially the type of traffic consisting of a long trail of infantry such as this. Shifting about in his saddle, Istvan peers down to his squire, asking the adolescent a question without dropping the straw between his teeth.

“Where do you believe our thoughts to reside; the brain or the heart, hm?”

“Has to be the head, no?” The squire replied without pause, a brow raised at the sudden question. “That’s where the brain is afterall.”

“But when one acts upon intense emotions, they claim to have acted upon their heart - get a feeling in your chest, you know? Perhaps God gave us two minds, the rational, and irrational.” Istvan concluded half-heartedly, finally spitting aside his gnawed straw. He twisted about, getting a look of the infantry column, and spotted the new addition of artillery pieces amidst the ranks.

Having caught his Margrave’s attention of the artillery, the squire interjects Istvan’s thoughts, “The unit commanders are requesting that the heavier artillery be kept in static locations during conflict, but the lighter guns are capable of meeting the pace of an infantry formation just fine.”

“Hmm, I’ve assumed such. Wondrous weapons those, shame the Jozsefites took all the Mechanists with them. Seen one of them punch through twenty pikes once, tore holes right through them.” The Margrave spoke reminiscently, blowing a puff of hot air into the cold afternoon, creating a mist for his own entertainment. “Ah, it's snowing.” he said, catching one of the first snowflake upon his nose, looking up to the sky to find that the clouds had released their blanket of snow.

ACTIONS

Available Imperial Gold: 103,920g

Having followed up on some personal leads regarding the Imperial Dragoner Korp, Istvan allows for his granddaughter and heir, Kateline, to remain in the Imperial Capital while he returns to Bihar to deal with the ‘Black Scorpion’. She is left with Bihar’s Fang, a sword created from the depths of Kwarwy Citadel, renowned for its bright shine that never seems to falter - hence the name, Glittering Fang. Further inquiries are made of her own initiative, which seeks to fulfill a life long dream of becoming a Dragon Rider under service of the Imperial Household. [Kateline (Agent) seeking to be recruited into the Imperial Dragon Korp]

With the forces of Bihar mobilized to have dealt with the initial wave of domestic brigandry, it now turns its attention elsewhere. The initial gathering of Sir Michal’s army earlier in the year continues northward to fully quell any holdouts of lawlessness, though in reality they are only using this claim of brigandry to assume direct control of these provinces. A division departs from Nowy Binarks, while another travels up the ancient Imperial Highway. [5000 Kwarwian Knights, 1000 Kiralskan Hussars, 2000 Kwarwian Arquebusiers, and 36 light cannons continue their push north to claim the empty provinces following their successful punitive campaign] Retcon if necessary

With the Lion returned to Bihar, he assumes leadership of a new task-force organized to track down the Black Scorpion’s presence in Bihar, and eventually rout him from the Empire. Realistically, there could only be one point of entry into Bihar, and that was through the ocean - with the Karancay having not reported any of the Scorpion’s actions in their territories, and bandits wouldn't scale mountains just to go plundering, at least that was the hope. Truthfully, the Black Scorpion was most likely a direct agent of the Trazmir, despite his brigand affiliations, guided by the Traitor’s knowledge of Imperial affairs. Regardless, a division of Hussars is set on patrol along the hinterlands, from the north in Nysa, to the south in Binarks. The rest of the infantry and their artillery are spread throughout the affected territories for continued defensive measures, while a galley leaves port, remaining on close patrol to the Empire’s coast. Last, a bounty is issued for the whereabouts of the Black Scorpion, promising wealth for whoever brings forth tangible news of such. [3000 Heavy Pikes, 1000 Kiralskan Cavalry, 1000 Kwarwian Arquebusiers, 18 light cannons, 1 Galley]

A platoon of Knights make their way further down into Kwarwy Pass, heading towards the closest Trazmiri outpost. One of the Knights has a white banner leaning against his shoulder, the banner being openly presented as a sign of parlay and truce. If not fired upon immediately, they request an audience with the local authority, though one might be able to deduct their reason for their presence - the Black Scorpion. [Discord Interaction?]

The Arcanum of Kwarwy City is finally put to use, as a request from the Knightly Order in the mountain pass is dispatched throughout the land - detailing the need for Magitechnical Engineers, the Citadel is currently on-going excavations of its unexplored sectors, which have long been in ruins following structural collapses generations ago. Rumours of potential discovery, ancient discoveries, from within the depths of the Citadel require the attention of the Engineers. [Arcanum of Kwarwy requesting Magitechnical Engineers for archeological dig-site in Kwarwy Citadel]

Preying on the gullible during this current brigand crisis, a new wave of recruitment is underway - promising a chance to defend the Empire, earn some gold, and popularity. The usual.

1 (1000) unit of Heavy Pikemen Regulars [8000, 3 iron]

3 (3000) units of Medium Pikemen Regulars [15,000, 6 iron]

2 (2000) units of Light Cavalry Regulars [10,000, 2 iron]

1 (18) unit of Heavy Cannons Regulars [12,000, 3 iron]

With an influx of refugees in Bihar following the Fourth Trazmir War, many of the March’s settlements have seen rapid rises in population, but none so successful as Koharstadt. Named after the current Margrave, Koharstadt is situated on a stretch of road leading to and fro from Binarks to Kwarwy. Originally composed of several farming villages in close proximity, the continued wealth flowing through roads, along with the arrival of refugees, led to the amalgamation of these communities into one urban entity. They have successfully petitioned the Margrave’s Council for recognition, and have thus been granted a subsidy for further expansion. [Constructing a City, 10 stone, 30,000]

Following the concept that eternal commercial growth can be achieved by simply expanding the industry of Bihar, two factories within Nysa and Kwarwy see upgrades. [x2 manufactories, 2 stone, 15,000]

A ship should always have a partner, therefore, an obvious case was made for such. [x1 Galley, 7500g, 4 lumber]

Once again, surplus lumber is shipped off to Przeworsk to be used in their naval facilities. Along with it is a chest of 6420 Imperial Coins, meant as payment for a return unit of Gunpowder.

PNS Argonaut patrolling near the coast of Bihar

___________________________________________________________________________

It hadn’t been a year since the cessation of hostilities between the Azari Trazmir and the Kiralski Empire. The Northern dogs smelled blood in the water, recognizing the weakened state of the Empire. Emboldened, the Kemijari massed their forces along the Valgrymian border, and sent their privateers force to wreak havoc upon Imperial merchant shipping. Perhaps the first foreign policy test of the Count Mariusz of Przeworsk’s chancellorship, Mariusz fully intended to defend the Empire’s junior partner, having spent the greater part of the last year massing a large fleet to retake control of the Kozeps Sea.

As on land, Imperial dominance was challenged at sea, with the Estish pirate lord Karl Nilsson seeking to earn both gold and glory in the Southern Ocean. Despite the large shipbuilding efforts at the Przeworsk Naval Yards, more information would need to be ascertained about this sailing rogue, if the Navy were to corner and eliminate this nuisance once and for all. To this, Commodore Adrian Wrobl looked to this ever-expanding armada of frigates, far better suited to running down and chasing enemies than the heavier galleons.

For this, the Commodore transferred his command to the frigate-built Argonaut, which would serve as his flag now for the upcoming season. One of many, it combined high speed and modest armament; these cruisers so far proving to be the most capable of hunting the swift raiding vessels of Trazmir and Estergaard.

Adrian stood on the quarterdeck of his new flagship, the Argonaut and her sister, the Constellation now on maritime patrol, cutting through the waves with calculating efficiency and ready to lay indiscriminate judgement to any pirate or buccaneer, be they Trazmiri, Estish, or even Kiralski. Adrian passed the conn onto a junior officer. Making clear of the mizzenmast, the Commodore reached into his coast, brandishing the Baton of Przeworsk, the symbol of power and heirloom of the House of Wrobl, but also their single greatest asset for command of the seas. It was time to crack down on the rabble which plagued the seas.

March of Kosano

(Flag will come eventually)

With his appointment to the position of Lord Treasurer, Sigismund was overwhelmed with joy. It had been some time since a smile overcame his face from under the metal mask he donned oh so many years ago. A sign of good things to come for Sigismund to be certain. Perhaps next year a son will be born. Or perhaps another successful quarter for politics. Only God knows.

Actions

Sigismund worries about what lies to the north. A storm is brewing no doubt, the savages will come to be culled. The F O R T I F Y I N G of Kosano is paramount, next to his lordly duties as treasurer of course. Bastion Walls are built around the capital city Kosano, and another set built around the city of Nemjec. (20 S, 80,000 G)

Four Mechanist Guild mills are built. The Zelenski ties with the guild are strong. This will give Kosano an edge in the future for sure. (100,000 G)

County of Budivel

The county of Budivel was one of contrasts. That much would be clear if you asked any of it's citizens. Though all were united in their belief of the Jozsefite faith and loyalty to the count, there was a great cultural difference. One determined by the very geography of the county. For the county was defined by one critical landmark, 'The Great Forest' as it was commonly known. Stretching from the coastline of the empire up to the high mountains. It was an area that covered thousands of miles of land. Most of which was unknown to citizens of the empire.

The forest itself was a strange and dangerous place. Filled with all kind of beasts such as bears, hogs and other predators. With the most prominent ones being the changelings. The other sentient residents of the forest, other than humans. The two were not amicable neighbors. The humans were opportunists, every ambitious and in their productivity sought to add more land to their domain. Whilst the changelings were vicious as they saw the human intruding in their ancestral lands.

Though there was now effectively a truce, with neither side truly engaging the other, there was a constant tension in life on the frontier. With tales of huntsmen suddenly disappearing in the woods, or whole villages completely disappearing of the maps. With rumors that the changelings were working with the fey. Unnatural creatures of fairytales that were eager to manipulate humans. In order to gain some weird obscure prize that they often sought after.

Thus the people of the frontier were a hardy people, one that had a weapon in every home and with huge militias in the cities. Emeryk could not help but admire them and their bravery. Yet could not help but notice between them and those who dwelled on the coast. Though the men here provided the lumber for any fleets raised by Budivel, they had a tendency to see those who did not dwell in the forests as cowards and weak. Pampered and not true men, who fought to protect their families.

Emeryk did not agree with this assessment, but knew where it came from. The people on the coastline wherein more settled territories, their main threats were from other humans. Allowing them to specialize more in craftsmanship, a skill which aided the frontier as well. Yet this all did lead to certain stereotypes, thus to make sure the people of the forests remained loyal and knew the support of the Count, he made his annual trip towards the city of Twierdza. Bringing along with him a large supply of guns for the garrison, as well as bringing his painfully honest and energetic heir with him as well. Perhaps it was something of a risk in case of an ambush, but this trip was something she had to do.

Something that became clear as he saw his daughter glance warily off the sides of the road, at the deep and ancient trees that were so common in these parts. Even as she road upon the hideous abomination, hellspawn created by the Great Devil himself, known as a horse. Hideous beasts that in truth were empty husks, only inhabited by servants of the Arch-Heretic. Whenever he saw the infernal beasts Emeryk felt the combination of anger and fear. But for the sake of his daughter, who ironically loved horsemanship for some god forsaken reason, he put up with the hellspawn.

"Don't be afraid Lyudmilla. This road and the surrounding area are regularly patrolled. We have an outer perimeter of scouts and a retinue of almost 50 men here. There is no risk of an ambush." Most youth would have agreed or gone of to a different topic. But the 14 year old Lyudmilla Gajeski did not. For better or worse. "There is always the possibility of someone messing up, that there is a mistake or that the enemy is too smart, that there are spies, that magic is used" "Lyudmilla"
"that nature itself is working against you"
"Lyudmilla...."
"Or that Vaseric heretics are work-"
"Lyudmilla, be silent." Those last words were uttered quietly, and yet they resounded far harder and caused the teen to shut up. Knowing that if she continued on there would be harsh punishments.

"We talked about this before. First off, you must try to contain your eagerness. Give other the oppertunity to speak. Especially if they have more power than you." The teen looked dissatisfied at this statement, but she said nothing.

"Second, though the Vaserics are foolish in their pursuit for the hubris of the ancients, we most never speak in such polarizing term. Jozsefites and Vaserics both serve the empire. To put emphasis on either, or to decry the other, merely serves to harm the empire. Keep that in mind." The young woman still looked like she disagreed, but said nothing. To which Emeryk let out a tired sigh.

"Lyudmilla, one day I will be gone from this world and hopefully join God in heaven. But when I do so, I will leave the fate of our county, our people in your hands. Heed my wisdom whilst you can, because only God knows when I can no longer grant it to you. "

Again Lyudmilla was quiet, but now for a far different reason .
Thus the pair of lord and heir continued their journey, even as the latter contemplated the words of the former.

Balcescu County

Dragomir Mandruleanu surveys his troops proudly as he rides alongside them, bedecked in simple rural aristocrat garb. His troops were all in uniform, proudly bearing the crest of Balcescu on their shoulders. Over the past few months they had been rigorously trained, and disciplined. The first part had been easy, every recruit to a man veterans of numerous Imperial Army battles in the past. But the second part came much harder. These men were broken, shattered from the horror at Kwarhy Pass. They had lived like animals, day to day just trying to survive. But Count Mandruleanu saw the strength in them all. A soldier broken down to his core can be built back up to something special. By showing compassion and offering a second chance, the Count gained himself a new coterie.

And now marching with him to the Capital are a thousand elite infantry. They proudly wear their swords on their hips, with bucklers strapped on backs. They march to the cadence of a drum, expertly matching one another's stride. Making good progress, they come upon the capital soon enough.

*Most of the troops form a camp of neatly lined tents outside the city, with Dragomir's top officers following him in. Attending their retinue is several county stewards on a wagon, with big bags tied up. As soon as they enter the city, they unfurl the rope, opening the top. Revealed inside is the glimmer of County Gold, fresh from the mint. They begin to toss out the coins as Dragomir rides to Sejm. They shout out his newest proclamation. The Count intends to run for Justicar, to ensure both nobility and people of the Empire get the fair treatment of Law. The gold is a gesture to the citizens of the capital, for their hard work. [-10k Gold]

At home the County Army is largely able to stand back down. They had quickly neutered the bandits power within their land. Once more they could return to the tradition of safety and prosperity. This was shown most in the massive expansion of industry in both city and country. Manufactories were rising everywhere, offering hundreds of jobs. This has led to the beginning of migrations to the cities and town centers. The quiet Country continues it's rise, as the army re-garrisons the land.

*10k Gold is donated to the Imperial Capital citizens as Dragomir makes his way to Sejm, announcing his run for Justicar. With him are 500 of the former bandits and deserters, turned Elite Light Shock Infantry. They are their as a show of the County's generosity, but also it's ability to turn even the lowest man into a fine soldier. These men are fresh from the campaign to slaughter bandits in Balcescu, having proven their mettle and earning elite status.

20k Gold is dolled out to the County Regular Army, as reward for swift persecution of the bandits plaguing the land. The men are allowed feats and leave with their pay, in hopes to further raise morale.

Agent Olchensky continues the hunt for dragon purveyor in Black and Legal Imperial market. He carries a note authorizing the spending of 150,000 gold to do such. As before the Agent is covertly tailed by 100 Elite County Irregulars, to ensure no foul business plays from potential sellers.

Dragomir offers to fund a star fort for the Vaseric Patriarch, as a continued gesture of good faith. He hopes in return the Patriarch will regard him amiably, and continue to consider him for any new Vaserium. It has the added bonus of further protecting the heart of the religion itself!

The County sends word to the Imperial Capital they would like one of it's finest Engineers for their Arcanum. In return the County would give a generous donation to whichever guild provides them. The Engineer sent would get a monthly stipend as well of course.

EVENTS

As the Winter passed and summer came and went throughout the year the many Nobles of the Empire decided now was the time to begin drawing faction lines for the upcoming Sejm as the Harvest season would approach. The two largest forces in the Empire have come to be known as the Unionists those who put the Empire first and wish to be united in the face of adversity and Cipriates who follow Mikhail the Bold of Valcea who wish to expand the influence of the Radulescu Dynasty and is named after the Emperor of that dynasty. The Unionists are nominally loyal to the Dusza Dynasty as they sit the throne and have many supporters among the establishment electors, while the Cipriates have support from more sidelined nobility.

There are still those in the Sejm who would rather support neither, the Commonwealth of Vsezprem formed a faction around Joszefism. Regardless, the lines despite the Vsezprem to turn the political tide sectarian in nature have largely become more secular and dynasty based. Both of the main factions have their share of Joszefites and Vaseric nobles. Now all that was left was the upcoming Sejm as the harvest was being sown in the many fiefs of the Empire.

Outside of the internal politics and squabbling between the nobility and other representatives in the Empire those who would steal or otherwise seek to harm the nobility. Karl Nilsson has grown more bold and is seemingly getting close with the Trazmiri, Faolan seeing his demands of tribute rejected has begun to mobilise his forces into several armies and despite this the Trazmiri border has become more quiet on the Imperial side, though it seems the Black Scorpion has taken to raiding his own Countrymen.
