The Final Rose Petals

“God rest her soul,” muttered Anastasia Ruthern as the official missive was made public in regards to the late Countess of Renzfeld. Whilst her stay in the Princedom of Elvenesse, she hadn’t received the usual information on the politics and ongoings of the empire. This one, however, came early one morning by a wandering courier (dressed in all black) who spotted her along a trail in the forests.

A great weight settled on her shoulders with the passing of the Princess Amadea. Although never before had she been a fearful, paranoid lady, the curse of the growing number of almost-empresses incited wariness in her every step. The years to come would never be the same.

Upon being informed of her daughter’s demise by way of a messenger, Amalie Lovisa released a sigh and shook her head,

“I feel no pity.” the Haeseni stated impassively, “The Holy Scrolls clearly state: honor thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” Amalie said in a rehearsed manner to the courier.

“Amadea did not do that. She did not heed my words.” the woman declared, “She made the decision to become the golden girl of the Novellen clan, and she did it mirthfully and out of spite for the lady that came before her — the Novellens are a treacherous lot: they will elevate a woman to great heights, just to viciously rip her down. It is a sport for them.” the aged Alimar stated, a disgusted expression  plastered about her visage.

“They did it to Wilhelmina, they did it to my daughter, and they will do it to whatever naive girl that comes after Amadea.” the lady finished in an austere tone, prior to dumping a few coins into the hands of the message-bearer, and promptly dismissing them with a wave.

Amelia Leslie seeks our George Maximillian Novellen once she reads the letter. "George, I am truly sorry" the aging nanny of the prince says, bringing him into a comforting embrace only a mother could do. "Do not despair, there are many here to support you in these difficult times, my prince."

George Maximilian, would accept the embrace of Amelia Leslie, his face now would be saddened from the apology. Cold comfort for her being gone, he would close his eyes briefly now before responding. "She is in the Seven Skies now, that is all I could ask for." He says as he tightened his closed eyes. Trying to hold back further emotions. He could not let tears flow, that would bring no solution. He pulls back now, continuing to walk down the halls of the Augustine. Murmering a final statement behind him to Amelia. "I'll be okay, I just need time. Saddness goes away, I hope. . ."

Isabella vas Ruthern quietly read the missive in her home at Kositz, a tear streaking down her cheek. Placing the paper into her drawer, she'd bring herself up from the chair she sat in, heading to the door. "How awful..." She murmured, trying to keep herself strong. "I need to see George."

The sound of shoes clicking against the wooden floors echoed off the pristine walls of the palace as Isabella approached George, sitting in the hallway. Mournful eyes now laid on her best friend; Tears spilled down her cheeks as George spoke to her.

Isabella wrapped her arms around George, knowing it wouldn't do much to help his grief, but it would give him the comfort and support she always gave him.

Why does it happen? Does Godan know how unfair it is? When a parent dies?

Those were the thoughts of an Ayr Teen who wandered through the halls of Valwyck, missive in hand. He did not sleep at all that night, his lamentations over decisions in the past and the fate of them at present hung his face to depression.

Diana d’Azor would shake her head lightly as she read the missive, her mind could only think what the young Prince George said… She’d take her handkerchief and dab at her eyes as she sniffled. She with sign the Lorraine, “may she rest blissfully in the Seven Skies and watch over us women as the years pass..”
