 REGARDING HAUGHTINESS

 

ON THE MATTER OF GREED AND ARROGANCE

"So I am the Most High, and in pursuit of my Virtue, I bid my faithfdul this: You shall not desire the wealth of this world, nor the wealth of others, but the wealth of the spirit." (Virtue 2:10)

 

“So I find that you seek impossible knowledge not for the good of your fellows, or precious wisdom, but in the desire of power.  Indeed, this is an insatiable desire, for none can overcome the Lord. This is the sin of envying GOD, a desire which cannot be attained, and the deepest blasphemy.” (Spirit 7:11-13)

 

When GOD exhaled His breath into the living, so did he sow His perfection into every living thing, made of His will and to abide by His intent for what they should be; creatures that lived by virtue, those ways which He deemed righteous. However, by the betrayal of Iblees, His intent for His Creation was perverted. With the Denier's forsaking of the Lord came temptations; inclinations of a terrible sort that all exhibit, regardless of purities and perfections. When these temptations fester and are not resisted by the faithful through the Sacraments and through mass and prayer, these inclinations cause sin, contrary to His will.

 

Mundane souls have neglected within themselves a spiritual backbone in exchange for more frivolous worldly methods since time immemorial, aspiring to belie a facade of ineptitude with power and diffidence with hubris. These deceptions share one standard port, insidious manifestations of arrogance and greed.

 

In unreserved speech, this is what shall lead one astray, seeking the wealth of this world, repudiating the wealth of the soul of which the Lord GOD has ordained the righteous wealth. Solely the power of the country, with its apparatus and structure therein, and a disregard for the prowess of GOD. 

 

Upon the instance that man departs from his home, by his very nature, or rather, the curse of Iblees, aspirations of greater standing percolate in his thoughts by first nature, and that goodness of soul which stands as a bulwark against those self-serving ambitions naturally falters. When this is the case, faith approaches as a second party and is ejected from the vessel - albeit, mayhaps, it shall be called upon solely for show, as a mere front to blanket the unremitting greed within. When one is covetous, will they ever admit to their capture?

 

When accusations manifest in full form, so too does arrogance amble onwards. As ubiquitous as the rise and fall of the sun, we hear this statement “To claim that I, the wealthy man, the incessantly innocent man, the forever faithful man, has sinned, is quite an erroneous and impossible endeavor, for I stem from so and so family, bear this much wealth, and have served the Empire ‘faithfully’ for a millenia.” In many ways, one can serve GOD through higher levels of stature. However, when the power is utilized as a vessel to further increase one’s own ambitions and not in worship of GOD, the verge of sin is reached.

 

Society as a whole must prevent the pervasive taint of haughtiness by dedicating efforts to the faith. It has been made clear by those before us and those with us that the taint of haughtiness shall not linger on forever in such a magnitude. In lieu, it should be purged - indeed, dedication to the faith shall lead to long lasting prosperity. I am optimistic.
