TO THE PIOUS MEN AND WOMEN OF SAVOY, FOREIGNERS AND WHOMEVER THIS MAY CONCERN,

I, Ernst Barclay von Freimark, write this letter as a plea, I write it as a call for help. May all those who shall read this share in my grief and problem, and any who will be able to assist me step forth.

During recent times, I have found myself experiencing recurring dreams during the time before the birth of my firstborn, Dietrich Radovan Barclay. However, after my son’s birth, the many dreams have continued once more, this time stronger and more vivid. They are not pleasant, and I fear for their meaning.

As such, do I send missives to all those of the land, priests, oracles, interpreters of dreams, and anyone who may somehow aid this humble Baron in need, I invite you to Savoy, and then to the castle of Freimark once it has been fully built. I invite you to share with me in my struggle, and help me understand the meanings of these nightmares. GOTT mit uns.

IM NAMEN GOTTES,

HIS EXCELLENCY, Ernst Barclay von Freimark, Lord Exchequer of Savoy, Baron of Freimark, Commander of the Black Cross.

The Grandmaster of Caer Cath takes notice of this plea, issuing word to some fellow erudites and adventurers before aiming to seek out the beleaguing nightmares that cloud the Baron's mind, these ill omens at hand. "Take a glance, Edmond."

"...I wouldn't rule out simple explanations like the effects of stress either, though another cause I could think of is the interference of some buried Uialbenite dark magic artifact," recited the Prince of Merryweather, dictating a note for his friend Ernst to a squire. "Something to keep in mind is the potential of Sky-Daemon influence. It is a well-documented fact that our ancestors, Corwin and Lewin, were plagued by incredibly vivid imagery in times of great meddling and upheaval. They wrote of a mirage of this desert town in a strange land, where Santegian bandits fought lawmen and soldiers in blue sack coats alike modern Orenian uniforms, and stole vast amounts of mina in gold and green paper notes. A symbolic prediction of the lawlessness of Rubern War and the Sutican War to come and the founding of Hyspia if I've ever seen one!..."

There the Prince trailed off, describing for the Baron a number of traditional Waldenian remedies for sleeplessness.

Deimos van der Sainte-Blandine reads over the missive, twirling his beard, his mind churning. “Perhaps we have a concoction for the baron to get a good night’s sleep.” he mutters to himself, going to look through the alchemical vials in his pharmacy.

Volmar Barclay frowns while wearly standing up from his bed in the middle of the night, almost yelling at the noise coming from the top floor, "I swear to God, what is kicking the bed up there ?"

[!] A missive would be delivered unto that errant Baron, clad in silver and bearing a hallowed beast of scales, which fore'er was ordained to feast upon itself.

"Prevja, my good Lord Barclay,

If it is aid with one's affliction that is sought, that which ails the mind and sullies the spirit, then I assure you - I've that which you seek! Medicinal acumen is something I possess in spades, to render purity unto that which has been sullied by the taint of this world's woes. If you would wish to be freed of your burden, and the stress that coils about you like a snake, you need only deliver a reply - and my services shall be yours, for as long as they are required.

We come as crows.

With wishes of good health,

Cecilya Anastasya, Proprietor of the Sacral Serpent Apothecary."
