THE ALSTREIM SOLIDARITY

A statement on the attempt of schism penned by His Highness the Prince of Merryweather, Sir Ulrich Lothar, Landgrave of Alstreim, concluded at Merryweather Castle on the 23rd day of Sigismund’s End, 1849.

IT HAS SADDENED the Royal House of Alstreim to witness the subversion of a joyous occasion for the Realm into a political ploy with no apparent goal but to sow disunity among the present Canonist monarchs and their representatives, and between them and the Holy Mother Church. At a time of celebration of the Principality’s alliance with the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, the Realm’s tentative admission to the New Orenian brotherhood of peoples, and the proliferation of Waldenian solidarity, the attempt to dethrone a sitting Holy Father with no regard given to the wishes of the Savoyard people and nobility, its allies, and the Curia of the Holy Mother Church, and in gross violation of the sacred Waldenian precepts of hospitality has left a sour taste in our mouth.

 

We stand with our brethren in the overseas County of Reinmar and our allied County of Freimark in their denouncement of the schism. We reject this manufactured division and disavow any attempt to garner support for it in the name of the Landgraviate of Alstreim, as well as the Council of State and the Order of the Argent Sun. The Royal House of Alstreim urges the schismatic clergy and the supporting temporal officials both to, before God, reconsider their decision and settle the matter through diplomatic means and dialogue rather than regress to rejection of the Peace of God promulgated by the Holy Mother Church.

 

In this we make no declaration of disobedience or rebellion. We remain committed to the wellbeing and cohesion of the Savoyard Realm, and remain hopeful in its negotiations with the Orenian Realm; however, to sully our reputation with uninformed support for this division is unthinkable. The Royal House is prepared to defend its position at the Diet this coming Saint’s Day along with its like-minded allies.

Saint Robert Rovin smiles from the Seven Skies, for he knew of the doom wrought upon his people by a cursed star. In the end, could men of good conscience say with certainty that an abyss born of schism was not political, but instead a necessary act? Though the seas may crash with crimson, the wheel continues to turn. Only the living (if they aren't already dead?) can decide whether to repeat the mistakes of the previous cycle...

"But the decay and whisps of the rotting flesh of the mind follow as one breath. The hollow eyes and whispers of tempting better days. It is all nothing but a lie. A lie and a wish that we had so hauntingly adopted to our very core that we threw everything away for the wisp of power. " She was speaking to no one in particular, in her words. Her fist clutched the stem as if the very glass were stone and could handle her fury. The gates of the door flashed back to the gates of the darkened tunnels, the muffled cries of a riot for a priest.  In the empty halls of the desserted part of the castle, she turns to the stained glass window. The depiction of war and the Lorraine cross seemed peaceful, but within the tears of her eyes and the setting sun it all looked red and oranage, too bloody . "Our families were there, our children, our wives, all put in danger for an agenda. An agenda that had no time to wait. We have no patience anymore. What happened to that holy virtue? What happened to Patience,Gott? " Blue eyes darted to the cross, Her words fell on deaf ears, maybe even death eyes, Nikita wasn't sure if anyone was listening anymore. blue eyes glassy and unwavering, on the portraits of the saints, of the seven skies. "Gott, have you abandoned hope? Do the ones who serve you have to squabble over who preaches your words? You merely need to speak to another; there are more mouths than the ones who fight under your name. "
