The Attack on Ephesius

Today was supposed to be the day of a tournament at Ephesius, a day of joy and rest. However, the king of Urguan is relentless. His troops invaded our city, and took many of us captive. I was set free to spread the word that the dwarves shall win. However, the dwarves shall not win, because they are cowards. They attack while we are unprepared because they know that they cannot win if we are prepared. They are evil, ruining a day of joy. But none of these are why we shall win. We shall win because we are strong! Every one of us has the power to kill a thousand dwarves! We can and will fight! For our friends, and for Oren itself!

"AVE OREN!" Screamed Jesus Pablo as he kept killing more peasants.

Luthriel sighed as she read the missive, a tear falling from her eye.  She fumbled through her satchel with her 3 remaining fingers.  All the beardweed, which she had harvested to gift to dwarves as a display of Krugmas peace and joy, had been taken by the ferrymen.  So too, had her left hand been taken.

"Merry Krugmas, Urguan.  I hope you enjoy everything you got from me."

"We cannot win."

"Love loses."

"Hate triumphs."

The High Seneschal of Ephesius reads one of his citizens missives about the days events with an expression of such abject sadness, you see it in the pupil of his eye

"I am sorry, young Mali. I failed my duty this time, but forget not the time they tried this and we struck every one of their feeble  bodies to the ground. We are too large for our own good, it's only natural we be their target."

He passes the note aside to his butler, sitting silent for a moment.

"Why yes, I am evil." said one dark-haired dwarf as he set fire to the season's harvest.

Wynsehn wonders, why they complain about being unprepared, while they attacked Urguan at night, taking the king hostage, while they were too unprepared.

Cheers heartily the resolve of the Elven people of Oren. They till the land, living peaceful lives - it seems they are being stirred to the harsh reality that the raiders do not attack Armies, they have and always will try to terrorize the peasants who live simple lives outside the city. However, he is pleased to see his people grow hardened - stronger - by each moment, learning that every able bodied Orenian will need to take up the blade, or at the least the pitchfork, to fight some foreign enemy.

Even now he looks as the great and mighty sounds of the forge, the anvil, and the smelter - working with architects of the Empire as they build - onward - greater, better than before.

The Dwed have projected their own frailties on the Mali, assuming our people would break in conflict. It seems they only harden us more.
