Somewhere far from the Oasis the former Qa'Id would read the missive. A faint smile formed, as he softly mumbled to himself "May GOD or Allah grant my family and all those of the Oasis fortune and wisdom."

Mehreen Al-Hattan leaned back in her chair and read the proclamation, one of the only pieces of news that had reached her during her travels. She smiled brighter than she had in decades. Mehreen knew her family and friends would never know how incredibly happy and proud this news made her, but that didn't matter to her. She uttered a soft prayer, wishing only prosperity on the new Sultanate, her people, and her family.

"A new Sultanate?" The youth almost spat out the question, glancing above the tavern's sea of heads to see if he had spoken too loudly. His eyes cut right back against the trader.

"Aye, and from what I've heard, they've laid claim to all of the desert," the trader spoke in between bites of dry bread and cheese. "...something about how it belongs to them. Hah! Sultans."  The trader toyed with the word in his mouth and returned back to his meal.

The youth kept his eyes fixed on the tavern's door, however, long and waiting, staring up the path north. He thought about his travels and the folk that he had met along the way. But an old call was kindling again. Now, more than ever before, he felt the pull back south - back home.

Il'Watar al-Zanj received word by way of a missive brought to him. He paced the main corridor of Chorasmia Jadida and walked past its massive sandstone columns to find a canyon looming overhead to the south. Just beyond those canyons stretched the expanse of deserts of the South; he felt he could see the horizon beyond the mesas and buttes. A sultanate over the entire desert would be a boon to the Farfolk and Southerons who still longed for a true home.
