To Right Wrongs

The Prince of Alstion

The 8th of Sun’s Smile, 1868

“The world is become Paradise.”

Auspice 2:49

Just as those before me who gave their lives to preserve the sanctity of the realm, so must we as well. The Empire, who had their brotherly chains forged in blood and steel which linked the vast and diverse Heartlands and Highlands through common burden and bondage has been shattered. I have gazed upon the last hours of chaos mankind has witnessed and wept at what I’ve seen.

The Empire torn asunder - the Jewel of Humanity - ripped apart so cruelly by the petty schemes of a third born Prince with delusions of grandeur, done so with an authority wholly not of his own and out of avarice and greed unseen since centuries past. We, of the House of Alstion, descendants of the Exalted Horen and Godfrey, will not idle now.

Our quarrel was with Philip III, a cause justified by the evident ruination his reign brought to our homeland and whose cursed soul has continued on to his upstart son, Frederick. From where does this Beast of Mardon derive his legal authority to disband our Empire? Somehow hailed as a reformer by the consciously blind - he does away with tradition and the rules of law however it suits him. It has been the concern of our society since time immemorial to always ensure the maintenance of the Empire, to ensure its continuation whatever the cost - we deemed Philip III a threat to this natural order and do as well hereby deem Frederick similarly incapable. The will of the people, of peers,  must be adhered to; we must never allow a tyrant to rise again and force their disastrous foolishness upon us - the Beast of Mardon knows no such consensus.

Hence, I do make it known, in my capacity as the Prince of Alstion, eternally swear my soul and body in servitude to the Empire; that my arms, for the betterment of all, will never be raised against that of Peter IV or his spawn.

We do now realise the gravity of our blind ambitions, our fixation of reclaiming our Imperial Throne for the sake of all, but no more shall we strive for such; for we now recognise the dangers of such a precedent established by the false King Frederick - unity shall be held above all else, service is stability and stability is strength. All the resources afforded by the Principality of Alstion are now at the service of His Imperial Majesty, the Orenian Emperor, Peter IV.

Long live the Empire,

LONG LIVE EMPEROR PETER IV

"Have I ever mentioned how incredible the House of Alstion is?" suddenly asked Lucius Galbraith to one of his comrades of the Imperial State Army after reading this missive "God save the Emperor!" they both said, cheering at the news.

"Perhaps it is only good to break with age old traditions in hopes for a brighter future. Which the line of Novellen has clearly failed to do, instead it has been several decades of stagnation. So perhaps you should heed the call for change instead of clinging onto the conservatism that has crippled your nation under the rule of the last three Emperors. So I bid the new King of Oren good fortunes in his momentous task of reshaping a crumbling Empire." Sigmar Baruch burnt the letter, with an amused expression on his face.

"These Alstionites seek a weak Emperor for whom they may creep the tendrils of influence asunder. Prince Peter's greatest folly will be their ally, for he is a mere stop in their goal for the throne." Conrad shook his head.
