Cards have gone out from a city in the east,

some to those who've been long deceased

To my first Mother and Father

Spoiler

To my mother and father,

Your faces fade from my memory like snow melting over long decades.

But though your countenance may fade from my mind,

your compassion never will, and I will carry it always.

Truly Yours,
James

To Tanith

Spoiler

Ma,

You were right. Humanity is going into another dark age,

and I will live through it as you have before me.

Only, I am not alone, and I am not afraid.

You have made the world a better place by helping my view of it.

Your Son, Always,

James

To Icroth

Spoiler

Pa,

Bishop g5, check

James

To Celestine Herbert

Spoiler

Celestine,

No feat of voidal magic is as mystifying to me as the power

it takes to keep the Northern Geographical Society running,

let alone the power it took to build it up. It is a burden beyond my bearing.

If I can not preserve your institution, I hope at least

you will accept the preservation of your memory.

Yours,

James

To Eliza Wittenbach

Spoiler

Eliza,

I suspect we'll be able to see each other for Tuvmas,

but, if not, I hope this time is refreshing to you,

and I wish you the best of all possible luck concerning your studies.

Until next time,

James

To Emma Rose

Spoiler

Emma,

I want you to know I will always be on your side.

I regret not knowing you better.

Merry Tuvmas,

James Vursur

To Yuliya Styrne

Spoiler

Yuliya,

I've kept my promise, it will be interesting

to see how long this all can be kept going.

I've kept, too, my eyes open for an elven authoress

with a silver tongue, and emerald eyes, and raven hair

it seems we do not get to decide

as whom we spend our lives.

Or with whom.

Yours,

James

Quentin Brae

Spoiler

Brae

You may have disappointed many people, but you have never disappointed me.

From the beginning I saw the true you, the you that nobody else

wanted to admit was standing before them the whole time.

There were times when they changed my mind,

and I looked again, open to having my mind changed,

and each time you confirmed what I knew all along.

I will remember forever,

James
