Dear brothers and sisters,

The past Saint's Day saw the celebration of eucharist, from the Akritian 'efcharisto'; giving thanks. While not strictly a Canonist holiday, it is an occasion that brings families and friends together in humble displays of gratitude and compassion It is a time of reflection and generosity, of an openness to giving and receiving blessings. Because of the occasion having such beautiful effects, we would like to partake in this tradition by writing all of you, our faithful flock, a letter.

We'd like to start by thanking GOD, for how he illumes us, how he guides and inspires us and how he has heard our prayers and given us chances to grow and be a better person. We are also thankful for how the canonist flock has received us since we became High Pontiff. While there have been some ups and downs in these first few years, overall the response has been overwhelmingly loving and welcoming  and we sincerely thank you, all of you, from the deepest of our heart. Your love and compassion and supportiveness gives us strength and makes us want to be there for all of you all the more. We are thankful also, upon reflecting on recent events, for those of you who have been less loving, perhaps more reluctant, hesitant or even criticising. While your attitude towards us is sometimes hurtful or disappointing in the moment, we know that your criticisms are invaluable feedback that we must not ignore but keep on lending a listening ear to.

We are thankful also for the people around us; for our Cardinals and Bishops who often lend a helping hand as well as good advice. For the men of the order of St. Jude who are always willing to be our valiant protectors. For those who have sought us out for the intimate and personal experience of confessing sins and the trust that comes with that sacrament. We are thankful for our family outside the church, our actual family, as well. For our brother Albert, who helps us hold a mirror to ourselves and makes us keep thinking straight when necessary at times. For our cousin Adrian, for always showing that even a distant relative (both in blood relation and physical distance) can still be a core part of one's family. For our niece Catriona, for always being a pleasant presence and bringing light to our day, like a daughter we never had. And while she might not expect such, we are thankful for our mother whom we have not seen much for over 40 years now, for she reminds us of the happy times of our youth and the love she gave us then.

There are also some simpler though no less beautiful things in life we are thankful for. We are thankful for the food we eat - especially the sweet fruits and the pleasure we take in growing them. We are thankful for wine, which we make sure to enjoy in moderation. For our good health and that of our loved ones. We are thankful for the beauty and majesty of the churches and the enjoyment of reading books and taking walks in nature. We are thankful for our lovely horse Spirit, for our four-legged companion is a much beloved and loyal steed.

Lastly we are thankful for all of the letters you write us and the messages you leave us. Correspondence with so many of our devoted faithful flock brightens our day, especially when it turns out there is something we can do to to help or brighten up someone else's day. On that note, we most humbly invite you, our faithful fellow canonists, to write back and share in good spirit what you are thankful for. We hope that you use this as an opportunity to reflect on all the things that are good in life and that you wish to thank God or other people for.
