Challenge the mind. Train your Magic. Embrace the Void.

Brought to the Lord-Magister Sulieronn’s mind while helping mages train, Mage’s Volley is meant to help mages understand how to aim their spells and learn strategy. By pinning mages against each other, or with each other for team events, mages shall be able to practice their magical arts in fun, meaningful ways. So, how do you play Mage’s Volley?

HOW TO PLAY

Mages will split up into teams, or decide to do a free for all. The Referee will use either an enchantment or a spell of their own to create “Targets” that will fly around an open space around the mages. This is preferably done in an open area. Then, the Referee will announce the start of a round, letting all the mages cast towards one Target of their choice. Destruction of a Target will lead to a mage receiving One Point. Of course, mages may cast at the same Target that another is going for in hopes of stealing the Point from them. The more Mages playing, the more “Targets” will be created. However, the number of Targets must always be divisible by the number of players. For example, a Three Mage game may not have 10 Targets, but it may have 12. This is so a theoretical tie may be achieved should all mages hit their Target every round. Ties are possible in this game. Here is a proper list of rules:

- Any amount of Mages may play. It may be a Free-For-All, or a Team game. Teams must be even and the Points gained by all Team Members will enter one Point Pool.

- The amount of Targets must be divisible by the amount of players. This allows for everyone to tie.

- Mages will fire at the same time and only shoot at up to one Target per round.

- Mages may try to attack the same Target as another Mage.

- Mages may not attack other Mages during the game.

- A Referee must keep track of Points. One Target is equal to One Point.

- Targets must be moving around.

- Mages may talk to each other during or between Rounds.

- Points may be given to another Mage. In case of Team Games, Team Members must unanimously agree when they want to give away Points.

- Referees may remove Points in cases of Foul Play and Rule Breaking.

- If discussed, Mages may agree on alternative rules for the game. This will be enforced by the Referee.

- Non-Mages, and Mages without a Projectile-Creating spell, may use enchanted wands to play the game.

OOC - HOW TO PLAY

Spoiler

One person is named the Referee and everyone else either does a free for all or goes into a team. The Referee will call out rounds and declare X amount of Targets being in play. The amount should be divisible by the amount of players. 10 is a good amount for a 2 player game. The Referee should emote the points for everyone and keep track of how many Targets are left.

A new person will start each round. So, if you have players X, Y, and Z, the first round will have emotes starting with X. Next will start with Y, third will start with Z, fourth will start with X, etc. This is so no one has an unfair advantage when picking targets. Alternatively, a /countdown can be used to make everyone emote at the same time. Mages should either declare shooting at “a target” or at “the same target as [player].”

After all emotes are done, everyone who cast at a Target will Roll out of 20. A 10+ is a Hit on a Target. In the case of multiple people Hitting the same Target:

     - Highest Roll gets the Point

     - If there’s a Tie for the Highest Roll, no Points are given

One Target is equal to One Point and Mages can declare either in the middle of the round, or after all the rolls are done to give someone else any amount of Points they have. If there is a Team, all members must agree to give away the Point(s).

Example Round:

Referee says, “Twelve Targets. Round one, Start!”
X throws a spell at a target.
Y throws a spell at a target.
Z throws a spell at X’s target.

X rolls 12 out of 20.

Y rolls 8 out of 20.

Z rolls 18 out of 20.

X rolls 6 out of 20.
Z rolls 2 out of 20.

Referee says, “X has 1 Point, Y has 0 Points, Z has 0 Points. Eleven Targets. Round Two… start!”

Looking down into the grand pits of his colosseum, Hohkmat’s Arena Master folded his arms, examining the clipboard suspended in air next to him. It contained his ever growing list of preparations, held up precariously in a bundled heap.

With a flick of his wrist, his quill of sapphire shards added one more item to the expansive catalog. One more for the books, he thought with a contented sigh. But in a quick lapse of concentration, he dropped hold of the list, and it rolled its considerable length down the walls of the pit…

*Anaiya was content with herself, as she exited the Proving Grounds. She would be, after all, be known as the first Mage to have won "Mage's Volley"*

      Stein's Final Moments
Alone, that was the feeling he felt, as he laid on the table in the surgical room in the Hohkmat clinic. Fear made itself  known as well, as he was recently cured from vampirism in that very room. The fear only grew as the restraints seemed to get tighter and the room spinning. Two others made there way in, separate, and at different times. They were once friends, family even if it came down to it. But his actions caused them to forget him as someone good. Hour's passed by as Stein, now called Almer, laid there on the surgical table, waiting for his fate to be decided. The door creaked open and his restraints came loose, allowing himself to sit up. His fate had been decided, the only thing he could do, was make it painless. The choices were simple, die a painful death, or be put to sleep, feeling nothing. The decision was simple, as he took the Nightsap juice given to him.

Before drinking, memories of his life flashed in his mind, memories of his childhood on his farm with his family, that he had forgotten so long ago. Now taking a drink of the juice, memories of his time in Reinmar, the friends he made that grew into a family outside of his original home on the farm. And as he slowly drifted away, his memories were of his new friends, now wishing him dead. The last image that made it's way to his mind was everyone he knew, gathered together. Almost like a final farewell, even though he did not deserve it. As his death drew near a tear rolled down his face, before his heart stopped, his limbs and body turning cold, and his image, slowly fading away, into the darkness, as he drew his very last breath.

      OOC NOTE:
Finally, after almost three months of playing as Stein/Njal/Almer, I have finally made the decision to pk him. This wasn't the ending I wanted for him, however this is the ending I am giving him. I am taking this time to thank everyone that was a part of his life, these past three months on the server have been a blast. Stein and myself have made a lot of friends that I hope to keep and play along side them with other characters I make. So for those reading this thank you and to anyone that knows, give a salute as "The Stone Fortress" has finally fallen.

I will now take the time to thank those that have impacted Stein's life greatly @FunkehMelon @melonth @ickyNuN @confusedjester @Rocky_Wolf @SmothBM  @Irishmanmichael  and of course many more that I am sadly too lazy to actually search up and apologize for it. However though not everyone that has impacted Stein's life will be on here, I have not forgotten you and will never forget you. So thank you all for the fun three months, and I will see you all in my next lives <3!
