A letter is published within the Lesanov Royal Court, addressed to the King and Queen of Haense.

Seventeen years have passed since my family was welcomed into the Kingdom, entrusted with the Baronial title of Kovgrad to safeguard the countryside of the Dual Kingdom’s territories from threat.  Despite the fickle past of my bloodline’s loyalty to the throne, and despite our service to the Veletzians who warred against the Kingdom. . . We were granted mercy, treated to penance, and became one with the Haeseni once more.  I was naught but four years old when this occurred.

 

I am twenty-one years of age, and it has been approximately nine years since I’ve seen my kin in any meaningful fashion.  It was not long after our arrival to Valdev that our city estate was foreclosed on, and I was left without the support or company of my father, baron-uncle, and cousins.

 

By the grace of the Duchess of Vidaus, Tatiyana vas Ruthern, I was provided a comfortable space to reside that wasn’t an inn before the Comet’s arrival to the capital.  The hold of Morteskvan remains my home to this day, for I’ve yet to ever see where my kin were stationed for Kovgrad–nor have I heard any word from them on the construction of our hold.

 

In the absence of my family, I’ve grieved to be without kinsmen.  But I’ve not found myself alone.  Ashamed by the history of Kovachev’s treatment of Hanseti-Ruska, I’ve dedicated myself to Her people and have come to know many kind faces to describe as a friend.  Shame persists in me still for the abysmal state of my Baronial family; the Crown is deserving of fairer and active service, and not for its titles to rest on hollow servitude.

 

So I make my request to The Crown; for the Barony of Kovgrad be stripped from Lord Fyodor Kovachev and be either entrusted to myself or my elder brother Edvards Kovachev.

 

I’ve remained dedicated to the Kingdom for all of my years in Hanseti-Ruska through my service in the Brotherhood of Saint Karl, and my contributions to the pursuits of the Patriarch of Jorenus within the White Comet; within the Royal Court, I’ve earned the patronage of The Crown for my skills as a weaver of tapestries.  While my brother is a more reserved soul when it comes to the public, his dedication and affection to the Kingdom persists beside my own.
