With great honor and humility, I write to you as the newly appointed Grand Speaker of the Commonwealth of the Petra, dedicated to serving our people and upholding our society's principles. I am pleased to announce the election cycle for the Lord-Mayor of Vallagne and three representatives to serve in the Garmont Assembly, urging all citizens to participate actively to ensure our leadership reflects the diverse spirit of our Commonwealth. Together, we will build a future that honors our heritage and paves the way for generations to come. Additionally, I am delighted to announce that former Grand Speaker, Viscount Konstantin Leon von Augusten, who has served diligently, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor and will assist with Garmont reforms and our shared goals in this new role.

LORD-MAYOR QUALIFICATIONS

 

The Commonwealth of the Petra will elect a Lord-Mayor to govern its capital, Vallagne. The Lord-Mayor is responsible for maintaining the rights and dignities of the citizens, enacting city laws (subject to repeal by the River Council), and presiding as a judge for local crimes, except for Crimes Against the Commonwealth. Additionally, the Lord-Mayor will hold a seat on the Garmont Assembly.

 

A candidate for Lord-Mayor must have been a citizen of the Commonwealth for at least 5 years, be in good standing with both the Catherinian Code and the Canonist Church, and be at least 18 years old.

 

GARMONT REPRESENTATIVE QUALIFICATIONS

 

Three representatives from the Commonwealth will be elected to serve on the Garmont Assembly. These representatives, titled the First, Second, and Third People’s Seat of the Petra, are tasked with serving the needs of their neighbors and the common man, prioritizing public welfare over personal gain.

 

Nominees must be at least 16 years old, in good standing with Commonwealth Law and the Canonist Church, citizens of the Commonwealth, and possess thorough knowledge of the Catherinian Code.

 

Debates between the candidates shall take place on the upcoming Saint’s Days, and voting shall commence once the debate transcripts are issued. Questions curated by the Office of the Grand Speaker, provided below, will be issued to the candidates at the debate. Citizens will also have the opportunity to submit their own questions for the Lord-Mayor or Garmont Assembly nominees after the listed questions are asked and answered.

3. What are your feelings on Vallagne’s current arts and cultural scene, and how do you envision the future of the Commonwealth of the Petra as a whole? What specific initiatives or strategies would you propose to improve the cultural scene and turn your broader vision for Petra into a reality?

1. What changes in physical infrastructure do you believe would benefit the Commonwealth of the Petra? How do you believe these changes would be best implemented?

 

2. Propose any amendments you would advocate for in the Catherinian Code  to better serve the interests and needs of the Commonwealth of the Petra.

 

3. How do you envision the future of the Commonwealth of the Petra as a whole? What specific initiatives or strategies would you propose to turn this vision into a reality?
