Spoiler

Functionally, Golemancy is the art of weaving mana and soul essence into complex Sigils to imbue life and magick into mundane stone, an independent dialect of the Material Alphabet which functions as an independent lexicon which directs the functions of its subsidiary creations, golems and golemantic prosthetics. It is a fundamentally basic and simple method of magickal artifice, which while easy to learn, can indeed be hard to master. It requires the use of a Golem Anvil to create Golem Cores and empower Sigils, and a degree of competency with masonry is required to work the stone used for making golems.

Golemancy is able to be practiced by a wide variety of creatures and individuals, requiring only a Greater Soul capable of producing untainted Anima, or Soul Essence, and mana.

  • Golemancy requires one to possess a Greater Soul capable of producing Anima and Mana to perform, alongside a valid Golemancy FA to practice. This means that all forms of Inferi are ineligible to practice Golemancy, alongside any CA or individual who lacks a Greater Soul.
  • One may apply for a [TA] in Golemancy after [3] months, assuming they know all facets of the feat and are capable of performing the magick.
  • One must learn Golemancy from an individual with a valid [TA] in the feat, with the only exceptions being ST sponsored eventlines intended to inject more users into the magic should it begin to die out.
  • Any one Golemancer only possesses [3] slots to produce golems, with a slot refreshing 3 months after the creation of the golem which filled it.
  • All facets of Golemancy are not innate, and must be learned from one’s teacher.
  • One may voluntarily rescind the feat at their leisure, effectively self-disconnecting themselves from the magic.

Purpose:

Spoiler

Golemancy is an advanced art of channeling fragments of your soul into various sigils as well as creating magically dense Anvils of stone and Core Sigils to create a Core, which is a significant magical item.

Due to this, I make this amendment to shift Golemancy as a Feat into a Magic taking up one magic slot instead, since this art is magic.

I will comment here that it's a bit difficult to switch a feat to a slotted magic because the implementations of such will effect a wide range of players. Especially with limited magic slots.

It would also cut off quite a few players whom would lose this if implemented given their CAs.

I agree, however this would allow Golemancy to become a more specialized magic rather than a collection on the shelf which I think is something it really needs.

Better to rewrite it then. Golemancy has been a feat for years and suddenly changing it like this with a quick amendment when it's so wide spread across many communities probably won't go over well.

I see the logic, but personally I don't think Golemancy is involved enough to warrant an entire Magic slot. You can't really do that much with it. Obviously I'm biased because I'd like to keep my feat without giving up a slot but idk. Maybe if Golemancy could make more than just one golem every month and prosthetics I'd agree.

I feel like rather than it becoming a specialization it'd be seen as something no one wants, because nothing else that lets you create constructs and prosthetics requires a dedicated magic slot, they're all feats.

story-team should make a feat limit of 3

Trying to take golemancy away from people isn't going to make it better for RP, better to add meaningful new sections than fundamentally alter the magic without community consensus. The biggest issue with golemancy is that people don't often want to play golems. This doesn't fix that.

sorry but this doesnt fit the current narrative set by the story team. having a unique character is a sin. everyone must have access to everything. no one can be special.

For future note, this amendment's goal is not to take golemancy away.

Many magics in the past have gained slots or increased slots, resulting in players having to choose which way they want to develope their character.

Golemancy taking a magic slot will force the people to choose a path to develop their character rather than being a side piece that can be taken without any thoughts to it.

This magic is potent and has room to grow into something more, which I plan to do through additions, not a full blown rewrite since that'll achieve nothing.

Nothing is wrong with the lore.

If you plan on doing this (which is something I think is okay), then you should make those additions along side making it a slotted magic. Just making it a slotted first without any additions has no real justification. Maybe if you added several different spells that could allow a golemancer to actively buff there golems while in combat to make the constructs more interactive- the magic would justify a slot.

If you do go down this path- perhaps slotted golemacy could be an additional growth alongside the feat. With the feat being baseline, and then the slotted version being those who dedicate themselves fully to golemancy to better attune themselves to their golems

IMO I don't really see much of a point to making Golemancy a MA over the feat, considering what it currently covers and other similar feats. However I do 1000% appreciate the addition/specification of having Golemancers needing a Greater Soul.

If Golemancy would be a MA it'd need a full magic rewrite. Trying to limit/reduce current players by changing the Magic Type will only stagnate it and make other similar creator-type Feats even more popular.

This is not what Minmaxing means.

Also, Idk... I think the lesser soul stuff is just limiting. Let musin people build golems!
