Where's Mick?

The server has been plagued for years by shitters who only are a negative to the community as a whole. They really are a drain on the community's culture, and are extremely toxic. They bully, they plot, they scheme, and they ruin the fun for dozens of players, or more. They drive off entire groups of people and only have fun for their own bubble of idiots who get the same joy from being asshats.

Is that Mick?

Not a clue. I don't know him, I only know his reputation, which may or may not be real.

But the question really is less about the exact details of his (or anyone's) ban, and more about if they are a negative influence to the server, I think, and Mick's return is based on disproving his aforementioned terrible reputation. He's a very polarizing figure, and to deny that part at least is to be in denial of reality.

If you find me tolerable enough to talk to (which unless all our conversations have been a lie, I think you do), then by comparison Mick is a saint.

I understand the continued disdain for Mick's IRP characters as they tend to portray the antagonist state of being that many people tend to take issue with icly, which are justifiable in terms of IRP opinions, but in no way does this translate to OOC with my experience with him.

While I can't speak for everyone, in my experience on the server, we've not always being on the same side in terms of war and so on but in that time, I will attest that Mick has always sought to pursue any conflict or remedy through rp means, all of which has been good faith from what I've experienced. Even in times of disagreement he's approached me irply and sought to remedy the rp qualms that have stood in the way of resolve and even if they haven't always met the ideal expectation, it was all understood from a rp perspective. This has been the same since I was a pink tag and even until recent and ultimately, I respect him for it.

In the meanwhile, oocly he's always been a person I could appreciate for encouraging myself and my peers to go about the server to learn and grow via rp and I truly want to choose to believe that this is still the case today with how he interacts with others in positive manner. Thus, I hope we can all separate this bad guy rp narrative from who he is as a human being, because again, he is not a character but a person having fun and playing a game.

Ultimately this stems down as a game where we rp how we wish on pixels and at times due to the majority of our interactions being rp with people, our view of them gets convoluted with an imaginary persona which unfortunately is a dilemma I feel we can't fix with rules and so on but instead must just strive as individuals to overcome. Which is why in this case I don't believe Mick should be met with horrid recourse currently. If he did commit grievous metaplay or something of the sort, it's of my opinion that infractions should be given rather than the current circumstance. I do realize though the gravity of everything really weighs on the outcome of all in terms of decisions, but that is my current stance based on the knowledge offered.

Of course, again I understand I can't know the experience of everyone, nor will I ever claim to, and I've not been present to witness all, thus this is simply an opinion, but this is my opinion from my personal experience.

One of my best interactions was when I was Urguan NL and I was kidnapped by the Ferrymen to talk to Mick. I was in a pretty bad state due to my hospital visit.

I was only met with kindness as I struggled to emote as my arm was still unresponsive. Idk many that would allow me the time to make the emotes and he assured me to take what ever time I needed.

Once upon a time, in the Dark Ages  of 2019 a poor German wandered the world of Arcas - a still quite new player. His old rpgroup was gone, destroyed by evil CMU machinations. But he was saved from evil by a great Belgian Wafflehouse-owner and soon reintegrated into Roleplay.

This great Belgian Wafflehouse-owner  was Mickaelhz. What are future generations of poor Germans going to do without Waffles? I fear they will all quit... unless... we find Mick again!

With the track record of LOTC's staff, who is really surprised anymore at this point. I could show them an abstract painting and it would lead to someone getting banned.

Admins should rly consider a sort of grace period where metaplay is given infractions instead of bans. Seems way too heavy handed to come out with really long bans as soon as the rule is introduced and people haven't adjusted.

Would also help it being weaponized. Metaplay reports with 3 month bans are a powerful way to get rid of people you don't like. With little oversight and near-zero transparency on the process, it's hard to find comfort in any recent verdict. I very much agree with some that it really just seems like a tool to get rid of players the team has deemed 'problematic' or situations like this where it's clearly to help push an OOC agenda.

Mick isn't the problem with this server, a 3 month ban is insane, he puts in more effort to do conflict the right way, which is lacking so much on this server. He creates a narrative instead of no-brain goonery and sets a standard for overall conflict

When I was a new player starting up, Mickaelz was there to assist. He always provided good roleplay scenarios and always had a nack to helping people. When I noticed his activity dropped, I was confused until I saw this post. It is a shame that he has been banned and hopefully many rethink the situation and he returns to LOTC once more.
