To His Excellency, the Court of the Kingdom of Balian.

I, Mikhail Clement Sarkozic, write to you in response to the summons I have received from your esteemed court. I wish to begin by expressing my profound respect for your authority and the noble traditions upheld within your realm. It is with a heavy heart that I must decline your request for my presence.

As a man of another realm , my primary obligations lie within lands that aren’t the Kingdom of Balian, where I am responsible for upkeep my loyalty and responsibilities to those lands . It is with great regret that I inform you that I do not currently reside in your nation and, therefore, cannot attend the court as summoned that was sent to me.

But also, the said laws listed within the massive, hold no great power over myself and my house, since as stated before I am not a citizen within the white walls of Portoregne nor is my loyalty with said Kingdom of Balian. If that means I am seen as guilty within the eyes of the Balian citizens, then that is how it must be but make no mistake that I am a man trying to avoid such because never once did I bend the knee to Balian, so I have never made such claims to remain loyal or anything of the such to said kingdom.

I mean no ill intent by my words and to make that just, I relinquish the titles of Duke of Sunholdt and Lorraine and Count of Kositz but let this be known, my words are merely making my reply known to the men and women of Balian, and I truly do hope that everyone between those white walls continue to follow the true holy path of GOD and never stray from such path again.

HIS HIGHNESS, Mikhail Clement Sarkozic

Prince of Providence, Duke of Helena, Count of Pompourelia and Patriarch of House Sarkozic var Helena

Ermenald Brighthelm, Squire of the Order of Saint Emma read the missive from within his family home in Beznov. He tried very hard to wrap his head around how this man could possibly be of even remotely the same house and lineage as his Liege, the noble and just Count of Aldersberg, yet he found no reasonable answer “Uhh huh - Quite a strange one this is, acts like a pig to slop, expect with titles instead of vegetable peels. . .” spoke the confused man before setting off with his day.

[!]A letter would arrive to the abode of Mikhail Sarkozic.

Mikhail,

You were summoned by me, the Cardinal. A member of the Senior authority of the Holy Mother Church as Pontifical Secretary within the curia. My good friend and brother in the curia, Friar Jacques-Baptiste Auclair who is the Auditor of the Supreme Pontifical Tribunal will be there to observe your trial regarding your criminally saulicious Avarice.

Now cease your political lawyering and penance shopping. Appear within seven Saint's Days sharp in the Saints Evening. Do not keep us waiting.

Blessed Regards,

Ivan Cardinal Lotharia

"Excommunicate this fool, brethren," Cardinal Villorik remarked with a sigh, "and then sever his head from his shoulders."

"The jurisdiction of the Light is all under heaven."

Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over the room. Saltwater of the Portoregne pier tickled her nostrils and ocean waves rhythmically crashed below. Pools of cornflower blue studied the words penned. Kathryn Virosi's brow furrowed, and she let out a quiet sigh, the weight of the words sinking in. "I must pray once more for him, then. What a shame that the first one didn't go through to him."

Chancellor Bishop Franz squints "I concur with good Villorik. Excommunicate, put to death, whichever. The rest of the Curia and His Holiness approve of whichever action you take"

His Eminence, Bishop Alexios, looked up at the others over the rim of his copy of the Holy Scrolls while they sat in session at the Holy See. The Old Man was getting more curmudgeonly and distracted in his dotage, but his eyes flashed brightly behind his pair of reading spectacles at the other assembled Hierarchs as they bandied about commentary on the latest news cycle.

"Humility is the beginning of wisdom and this one, professing himself to be great, brings himself low. Excommunicate this dolt, and may the LORD choose to grant him better sense in the afterlife ... wherever he is headed."
