Earth Bound - [Earth Spirit Pact]

"WHO GOES THERE?"

 

What was thought to be a large wall, made of discolored rock began to move, it began to speak. It's body was the size of a castle and its voice alone could topple mountains. The dwarf had never seen such a creature in his days, but his mission remained true. With a resounding boom from his banner hitting the stone, the dwarf spoke.

 

"Oi am Grelu Silvadbraid, Son o' Aerrund Silvahbraid, an' Clan Fathah o' the Silvahbraids!"

 

He shouted back with a slam of his fist against his armored chest. 

 

"WHAT DO YOU SEEK?" 

 

The goliath spoke back, the walls shaking with every word.

 

"Oi seek tew behcome entwined wif dah Earth! Tew 'arness the powah o' rock an' stone! Oi seek yew Bregthar"

 

He replied back with a point of his finger.

 

"Oi 'ave come tew bargin!"

"ARE YOU WORTHY? RESILIANT? UNMOVING? UNBREAKABLE!"

 

The spirit shot back.

 

"OI AM DWED! OI WAS BORN UNDAH THE MOUNTAIN WIF A FOIRE EN MOI BELLEH! EVEN UNDAH THE PRESSAH O' THE MOUNTAIN OI DEW NAE BREAK! EVEN WHEN RAINED DOWN UPON BY THE FOIRES O' AH WYVURN OI DEW NAE FALTAH! OI AM AS STRONG AS STONE, THA' MUCH ES TRUE!"

 

Grelu responded, not a shred of doubt in his voice.

The mighty spirit seemed pleased with the answer and spoke...

 

" THEN YOU WILL BE A SERVANT MOST RELIABLE."

 

He spoke as his stone fist lifted to a cliffside along his chest, and out from it came a smaller creature made of stone.

 

"ULGUND! THE BLUE STONE. STRONG, UNWAVERING, AND FORMIDIBLE"

 

The rocky spirit clad in stone descended, it's body was covered with embedded diamonds that shined amongst the darkened caves. 

 

Ulgund extended a hand outward to Grelu, and from his palm came a jagged spike. An unspoken glace between the dwarf and the spirit was all that was needed. Blood. Unwavering the young dwarf took hold of the spirits arm and ran the spike through his own hand. A grunt of pain, a splash of blood, and a pact sealed. Grelu looked to Ulgund not as a power source, but as a brother forged in stone. 

 

Born again.

Grelu then awoke from what felt like a night at Belkas Barrel, though the Diamond shaped mark on his right hand said otherwise. He felt the ground beneath him and heard it speak, he heard it breathe. He was now bound not only to the spirits, but to the earth itself.

 

"Fathah, can yew see meh?"
