During the year 227 of the Second Age, a time of transition and renewal in the heart of the Commonwealth, two merchant realities profoundly different in origin but kindred in spirit, decided to merge their destinies into a single banner.

On one side was the old guild, custodian of established routes and experience forged by decades of trade, tradition and diplomacy. On the other was the new company, animated by a group of ambitious young merchants, born and bred among the commonwealth's marketplaces, armed with fresh ideas, initiative and a bold vision of the future.

Thus it was that the entire nation-and with it every keen observer of the trade dynamics between nations-was made to witness the union of two emerging pillars: the merchant company La Rosa de Mers, founded and led with grace and cunning by Valerie Auclair, and the operating domains of the Winchester Family, famed for their iron discipline, impeccable logistics and deep knowledge of the rare herb and spice routes of the interior lands.

The Rose de Mers, always a symbol of elegance and refinement, had built their reputation on excellence in the art of jewelry making, the forging of weapons and tools, the care of taste, and the practice of alchemy, succeeding in transforming each product into an object of desire.

In contrast, the Winchester Family dominated the land arteries, with their unerring caravans and mastery of urban markets. Their strength lay in the trade of metals, medicinal herbs and the commonwealth's finest steeds, becoming a point of reference for every settlement, town or outpost.

Under the sign of opportunity and shared vision, the two companies enshrined their union in a historic pact. Thus, amid the din of signatures and the solemn silence of witnesses, the The The Eighth Coin was officially born.

A new mercantile force, ready to radiate like an inverted eclipse over every continent, merging ancient knowledge and the thrust of the new.

A guild born not only to dominate the routes, but to rewrite the rules of trade itself.

The candlelight flickered softly in the carved brass holder as the scent of oiled leather and dried herbs hung in the air, familiar comforts in the Winchester office room. Simon stood tall before the long oak table where maps and ledgers lay scattered.

A sealed parchment rested at the center- heavy and cream colored.

He ran a thumb across the red wax, then broke the seal in one swift, decisive motion.

As he read, his brow furrowed- not in concern, but in the weight of understanding. The kind of expression that comes when a man sees the wheels of history turning and knows his hand is now on the spoke.

He read each line slowly. A small smirk formed at the corner of his mouth at the line:

“Honor weighs less than gold, but it cuts the same.”

He mouthed the words again, almost tasting them.

His hand instinctively moved to the edge of the table, where an old dagger rested—a relic from the early Winchester caravans. With a deep breath, he picked it up and pressed it into the wooden surface beside the parchment.

Then let it be so.he said, his voice low but firm.

"This name seems like a bad idea. . . Do they know?" A wizard wondered as he stared over the missive- brought to him because of it's title.

The former Herald of Strife, despite their eternal torment at the hands of geists innumerous festering in the Ebrietaes, couldn't help but snicker at the name. "How unfortunate. Who's gonna tell 'em?"
