There are few words for the weight of grief that now lies upon the Petran people. Though many of the Cantons of the Commonwealth remain standing, and though our defense was fierce and unrelenting, Val de Lagne has fallen to the forces that threaten every corner of this land. The large majority of us have been unseated from our homes, including myself. We have all lost more than can be spoken here.

 

That said, I’ve found that stewing in grief does not put roofs over our heads. This announcement is being issued to direct the former residents of Val de Lagne, who shall not be left without shelter. Though Chambery was not directly attacked by the mountain’s hordes, it is strictly encouraged for all residents of the district to also evacuate, as it has been seen the undead occupying Vallagne will attack anything and anyone that draws too near.

 

The Duchy of Vohenhiem has opened its doors to refugees, and all displaced may contact Duke Thomas von Theonus to gain shelter within Castle Vissingren on the Eastern border. In addition, the keep of Cortref Mor has been generously offered up to the Petrans by House Marsyr. This keep, which lies directly outside the White City of Numenost, is currently being renovated by the Treasurer’s office. It will soon have rooms to house both single residents and families, large amounts of storage space for displaced possessions, common rooms, a chapel, and a dining hall where food and drink will be distributed freely. 

 

All former residents of Vallagne and Chambery are encouraged to begin migration to either Castle Vissingren or Cortref Mor as soon as they are able. If you intend to settle in Cortef Mor, please send a letter to the Treasurer's office as soon as possible so I can ensure there is space for you and your family. No taxes or payment will be required for this housing.

The elven soldier wandered through the outskirts of ruined Vallagne, silent and shaken. His armor was dust-covered, tabard in tatters. His lips parted now and then, as if to speak—but no sound came.

 

He moved without aim, eyes scanning the rubble for any sign of life. Faces flashed in his memory. Names sat on the edge of his tongue, but nothing left his mouth. The city was gone. And he was mute, lost, and hollow.

Arthur Marsyr, Now Lord in Cartref Mor never imagined putting the castle to use this way. He watched the renovations from afar, a clear and tangible sign that they were in dire straits indeed.
