do you find yourself burning out from writing lore are u just a machine

thoughts on the future of AI's integration into society, economy, etc as a whole?

Contrary to popular belief I actually do get burnt out of lorewriting, it's happened twice so far. I primarily write lore because its fun for me, and that degree of being 'fun' is the primary motivator I have- there were times were it stopped being fun. The first time was halfway into writing the infernal compendium, where I partway throughout just got swamped with literally around 110-140 comments on that document from the playerbase's members, which just made me not want to look thru them all for a good two weeks or so. The second time was more recent, and it was after getting the past denial of the Zar'akal rewrite, wherein I didn't really want to go through implementing all the changes and resubmitting right away (partially because I had a lot of schoolwork + it was mid-FRC robotics season, but also because it just lacked any 'fun' for that span of time), so it was a good period of about 1-month or so before I found motivation again to finish that up. So long as I retain interest for smth I think i can write it out cohesively, though I still have a long ways to go in terms of improving my skill at creating actually 'good' lore, given one of my biggest weaknesses is that I rush through things too quickly and make major oversights.

My response for this one may be a bit inexperienced given I haven't done much in-depth research into AI, but I'll give my two cents based on what I know. Imo, AI is a pandora's box we've released as a society without creating preliminary measures about it and rather are just creating regulations and noting oversights as it grows. I personally dislike its usage in creative endeavors (writing, art generation, even recent video generation), but the truth is that AI will only grow better at these things as time progresses, and that ease that comes with this slowly improving tech will make individuals more inclined to use it, which can't really be stopped. My doomer take is that in roughly 3 years, LotC will be half-populated by individuals who use AI for everything, and from what I've observed theres already numerous playerbases that've started to use it.

In terms of other uses however, I think AI is a big game changer for a lot of automation, analytical, and efficiency-enhancing tasks where it can supplant 'older' technology in those fields, which is probably a huge plus, though keep in mind I'm relatively inexperienced with in-depth research into AI. Regardless, we've already gone too far from opening Pandora's Box to step backwards, and AI will likely be an intrinsic part of the world for the future to come.

I remember very little about my earlier time on LotC when I just applied, though I do remember I was roped into Haelunor back then and met a few individuals- from some who I’ve since re-met recently, like Sacred, Mori, and Flemish,

If a really cool and lovely player who shall remain anonymous wanted to get into lore writing, where would you suggest to start?

Just come up with a low impact idea and jot away? Find something already going on and try to pitch in? Dive straight into the deep end?

The following is purely MY OPINION but do take it with many a grain of salt given that I have only had one successful lorepiece over 10+ subs, and I am 100% not the best person to look towards for modern lorewriting examples; Werewolf and Mordu are much better examples to learn from given their recent and/or multiple successes in the past few years.

Primarily, I write things based around a central idea, and I just go off directly into listing out possible ideas for abilities, thematics, and most importantly a core 'system' (which are more often than not poorly thought out due to myself rushing through them too quickly). Examples of this 'core' can probably best be seen within the 'recent' Clericism submission I did, where the core thematics of it was effectively "combative elements based around bastions, noncombat + healing are not bastions" which whilst I did base the full piece off that, was also a POOR CHOICE ON MY END, and was 100% one of the major reasons why that piece was shot. I think one of the better core ideas I did was for the Zar'akal submission, where the core of it was "ritualistic + flavour-centric endgame", as opposed to the current Zar'akal of being a pure combatslop goon, which I think (I think) was a better and more thought out 'core' to that piece than ones I did in the past. I am of the belief that asking questions and learning from mistakes is one of the best ways to improve, given that I have made a litany of erroneous mistakes within writing lore which I have learned from.

Keep in mind that I have very little relative experience writing lore, and have only actively tried my hand at it for just over a year (with only a 11% success rate or so), so my methods are most certainly not the best- but one piece of feedback I can give you and highly suggest is to take your time with it, smth which I traditionally struggle with and have only recently realized that is my largest weakness. Don't do as I did and rush through loresubs, and take ur time to curate something cohesive.

My reason for writing stuff (and by extension the reason why I play and enjoy LotC) is that its something fun to do as a creative exhaust. Its a lot more fun writing something with certain intents, regulations, and the goal to mesh into an existing world as compared to

In terms of reading, I think I can say pretty firmly that my favorite author is Brandon Sanderson, specifically his series set within the Cosmere. His magic systems, characters, and worldbuilding all mesh so well not only within their own series, but also in the greater world that they all span within, and with every new book he releases, Sanderson never fails to dissapoint. I'm personally a huge fan of his Stormlight Archive series, especially given that series is one of the things that got me into reading larger fantasy series + the character development and growth there are phenomenal. Beyond fantasy novels, I also read manga pretty often; of these, a few recommendations I would 100% give are Pandora Hearts and Barakamon if you havent read either, the prior is a dark fantasy w/ lose inspiration taken from Alice in Wonderland and other works by Lewis Caroll, whilst the latter is a realistic fiction about a calligrapher who moves to a rural island.

hello my gajoat :)

top three animals are ring-tailed lemur (they're pretty based lowk), sugar gliders (cool lil guys), and prolly rabbits (infinite coolness factor)

top three favorite meals are uhhhhhh great question i have no clue :3

I enjoyed FRC a lot over my four years of doing it, probably because how it was entirely student-driven throughout it, whilst adult mentors took the position of mentors- who served as advisors who taught and corrected, which I think made our end result of a robot every year something which was truly ours, and hence something which I found extremely fun to do- creating something to not only participate in those matches, but also something reliable and minimize the risk of failure during matches, etc- not to mention all the friends I've made along the way and the friendships I've strengthened further through it all.

See the response to spidy's second question for more details, but the Way of Kings (first book in the Stormlight Archive) is prolly one of my most favorite ones. Other novels that I hold to a significant regard include Piranesi (insanely interesting if you go in blind and havent read it yet), Blood Meridian, The Darkness That Comes Before, and The Little Prince. You have no doubt read most of- if not all- of these, but those are prolly some of my top books atm. I have a good feeling this list will be divergently different within a year or two tho lol

Fav event on LotC would either be when I broke into the drazi lair when I had just returned to LotC and when Qizu found me, questioned me, and then assigned me a task to spy on the paladins, was probably my 'founding event' that gave me reason to stay here and was pretty fun, OR the spider's den event I went into with my friends late at night w/ Whitewolf, as that was not only the first ST event I participated in, but also one of the first times I had fun doing exploration + chilling w/ people in VC.

Literally anything except raw tomatoes..... i despise raw tomatoes to an uncanny degree.
