The safest place, would probably be Kurai Kuni, if you're looking for somewhere to go that is active, has whimsy and is less likely to get wiped out.

There are autonomous groups beneath the Empire where, if you find the right cast of players/group of friends within it, you could honestly do creepy roleplay and avoid darkspawn allegation (unless magic gets involved, then you may have to cross your fingers.) If anything, try running around the server and interacting with people from different nations first before ultimately deciding on a place! IMO, location doesn't matter, it's finding a group that vibes with your character :D

I'd say make a basic persona like an adventurous elf or scholarly dwarf or whatever and then try out different nation's activities. See which group you want to be a part of and build up your story from there
