[A picture of the Imperial Princess was drawn onto the missive.]

On this day we have seized a princess of the Imperial Dynasty, Livia Caesonia. She is held within the capital of Urguan, unharmed as of now. Send forth a parley to negotiate with our demands for her safe release. If you dare not set out to make battle or negotiations, we will revoke her safety and send her corpse to the doorsteps of your palace.

YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SAINT'S HOUR AND A HALF NOTICE TO BRING FORTH OUR DEMANDS

S I G N E D,

Marshal-Governor Shamizir of Salvo

"At least she looks good in this drawing.." spoke the Princess' sister, Pontia

"Oh." Said Rhaegar Roa, who was spending time with his siblings when he got the word to muster. "Off I go, i guess."

From the arid confines of Perduran, a woman lazed about the square. She sat opposite of a man, playing a game of cards. Somewhat proudly, he told her about the capture of Livia Caesonia. A wash of sadness came about her face -- her eyes drooped, her voice faltered. And then her face grew hot and red, almost as red as the evening sky when the sun began to set. Konstanze played a card, flipping it up so that the symbols could be seen. "I win," she muttered, taking the coins. She flicked the card at the man.

Later in the day, she sunk into a bathtub, submerging her head underwater. She rose, uttering a prayer for the young Livia.

An ildon guardsmen looks at the missive and thinks didn't the capitol of Urguan just get raided wouldn't it be safer to put her in a place that is safer then that. Someone could just sneak in couldn't they.

The Emperor grasped the parchment, and read the words carefully. Hadrian's lips remain neutral, and for a brief moment, his eyes glanced up towards his brother, Johannes Marius.

"Well, they better kill her then, hm? I still have four other children," There seemed to be little remorse in his words.

The Emperor's pageboy attempted to defend the woman's honor, and was promptly sent to the gallows for raising his tongue. His corpse dangled in front of the city gates. A stark reminder of how class consciousness continues to elude Imperial civilians.

In some other part of the world, captured Goblin metalworkers are seen working on the hull of a great weapon of mass destruction, one of them tumbling into the thing's exhaust port.

"May she go out with honor and be a martyr amongst her people," Ena spoke quietly to himself before a shrine to his great ancestor. Perhaps a vest of 11 blasting potions would shroud the captured princess with a miracle.

Dorin Starbreaker paused before the message board, eyes narrowing as he read the missive aloud under his breath. A princess taken. Held within Urguan. A threat of death if demands were not met.

He felt his stomach tighten. This was not strength. This was not strategy. It was a provocation laid bare for the world to see, and made inside the walls of the capital itself.

The new clan member beside him shifted uneasily as Dorin folded the notice away. Hostages did not end wars. They hardened them.

Without a word, Dorin turned and set off for the capital at once. Whatever followed this would be ugly, and Urguan would need steady hands when it came.
