The Ghoul Becomes an Open CA

Talking with screaming dingo in story discord, he has convinced me that the lv1 ghoul CA should be made open for public use without the involvement of Necromancers. The idea being that ghouls should be able to function without the direct involvement of Necromancers, much like how ghosts can function without the direct involvement of mystics. This is all new stuff which would be added onto the lore page (I'll leave the formatting to Pallodium <3). They are just a baby CA anyways with zero threat level to being open after all.

Under Creation

The Abyssal Anomaly

Alternatively, in lands cursed by swaths of Necromantic Magic (be it abyssal blights, Heith Hedrans, or locations in which Necromancers have been active), or through a random occurrence through the application of Necromancy, a Ghoul may occur in a more natural way despite their artificial nature. Unlike the creation of ghosts, these ghouls are not wailing spirits who linger, and instead suffer from an unfortunate circumstance in how they formed.

Redlines

➣ Ghouls are an OPEN CA available to any persona (excluding none Beast Folk CAs) which dies of any cause on lands cursed by Necromantic Magics, the fangs of other ghouls, plagues conjured from necromancy or other Necromancy related causes.

➣ Ghouls created this way are UNBOUND to necromancers, but may willingly tether themselves to one. They would be added to the Necromancer's MA or Darkstalker CA then after.

Under Revival

The Unbound Curse

If a Ghoul is not bound by a Necromancer, their wailing spirit lingers upon the mortal world, searching desperately for a new host corpse to be found, often within lands tainted by Abyssal Magics, Heith Hedrans, and other necromantic anomalies. In these cases, a ghoul will slowly find a new vessel to inhabit over the course of three OOC days after they perish.

Redlines

➣ If a Ghoul is NOT bound to a Necromancer, they may respawn after three ooc days at a random corpse within lands near hieth hedrans, abyssal tainted regions, or other necromantic plagued lands.

➣ The Unbound Curse also applies for any ghouls bound to Event Characters (this is to say that should a Player Ghoul be bound to an Event Necromancer, Mordring, etc, the ET in question is not required to be present and online to raise them).

➣ Follows all death rules about revival.

I believe this would be cool but I know there will be people that will go "BuT wHeReS tHe StAkE tHeN" and I am worried that will be very common here. I am a advocate for such a thing, ghouls should be open.

pro rp addition. I really dont think anyone for any reason would be wondering where the stake is considering that this amendment is directly meant to replace the stake

Maybe some benefits to be given to them, if they choose to be bound, like how ghosts get some boons for being bound by mystics? 0 reason for them to choose to otherwise, but I 100% support them being an open ca!!!

It seems the benefit for ghouls in this case is that they can be made into darkstalkers if bound to a necromancer, just as ghosts can be made into paleknights. Pair that with the benefits of working with a group of other undead and people who don't care that you're a walking corpse, and you're pretty much chilling compared to 99% of unbound ghouls if this were accepted.

Not a Necro or Ghoul player, but I feel like this would be a great way to ease folks into roleplay involving Dark CAs and MAs. Would def make a Ghoul CA if this was to be passed.

makes sense

I would also put that it can also be linked to a Darkstalker's CA as they are also able to take in, raise, and revive ghouls but otherwise?

Top tier. +1

I did make the joke of it's been like a decade since Mordring- can we bring it back for Azuras? Fall of the Westerlands 2.0.

This lore has been denied.

At this moment, ST are uninterested in making this CA truly 'open' as Ghosts are. Having this become a truly unregulated CA without any bindings to it (such as the Stake of Mordring which had them effectively bound to a creator, even though the eventline was thrown into limbo) would be an utter spell for disaster. Additionally, these are not 'natural' things as Ghosts are and are much rather postmortem entities CREATED by necromancy- without ET/MArt interference or similar means to invoke such, this sadly won't be considered for the time being.
