How many tech-team members have to leave before keeping Daisy is not worth it?

Then where are all these tech team members coming from? I love ya Adele but something has to be going on, right? There’s only so much a community can gleam from the vagueposting made by members who quit.

I think in Crunchiest's case he was expecting guidance after being given the role of senior tech, but Daisy herself said when we got promoted that it pretty much gives us free reign to run the team and do what we want. I'm just mentioning that I personally have had no issues with direction, because it's quite obvious that we need to work on improving existing plugins instead of creating plugin #5489 that adds extra load and stress to the server.

no one asked me but i mean it shouldnt take several days for someone whose ban appeal was accepted to actually be unbanned

This sounds to me more like a moderation problem not a tech team problem..

I appreciate your insight very much. I would like to have this sort of transparency from other members in their posts.

It sounds like Crunchiest had a much worse experience and many more roadblocks than free reign, though? His post seemed quite critical of whoever he is citicizing

I can't say anything on what he's experienced because I've only spoken to the guy once in his time on tech team and it was during a meeting like a week after we all became senior tech.

This is untrue. Its a perception thing. I've literally made a career identifying silos and removing 'irreplaceable ' stubborn fixtures from companies. Will there be bumps? Sure. but 'Only they have the keys!' is a hostage situation, and should be corrected in any environment. AND more importantly, IS achievable in every environment.

remember that time during the last coalition war, where Daisy devoted three weeks of her personal free time towards trying to fix the war server? while everyone was screaming their heads off on the forums that she was a horrible person and admin for not fixing it RIGHT NOW!!! ?

or what about that time where she was managing both the Tech Team and Community Team? all while trying to juggle project scale improvements for both teams, organizing meetings for both teams, manage the implementation of multiple projects on both teams, writing her own code for projects and plugins of her own, all while working a full time job, and STILL finding time to hang out with her friends? all done regardless of what the mean people on the forums were screaming at her.

how about that time where, in the last couple of months, she promoted a number of passionate techs to senior tech status to run things and implement projects they care about while she takes a break from the endless slew of vitriol and hate you people sling at her on the forums?

she tries so hard, and no one sees just how much work she puts into the server. so many people don't have a single clue how much (thankless) work daisy puts into the server, regardless of all the hate she receives.

ive seen you be endlessly toxic and downright mean towards daisy for weeks now. in fact, your hate for daisy is one of the only topics i ever see you talking about in OOC, on the forums, status updates, etc. regardless of whether daisy has done right or wrong, it is absolutely not okay to be as mean and obsessed as you are over a Minecraft server, and i really, really think you should stop now.

Perhaps I have been harsh in my judgement of them. I would still like to see more transparency. I do appreciate the push to let senior tech developers do their own thing, but from what the now-gone senior tech member has said, those in power are still restricting things heavily. Daisy is the only one in power above them that isn't Telanir or Tythus, and both are strictly PR these days and I do not see why they would ever care to restrict.

The secret 3rd opinion is that there are some things that Daisy could improve on as an admin, and there should be systems in place to generally prevent admins from treading on each other's turf, but she's led a stable, competent, and well-staffed team and shouldn't just be removed or booted off

A serious reply to this kind of topic can only be phrased in terms of "host your own server and find out."

Until you've demonstrated that you'd commit your spare time to making sure Mojang's shitty server code doesn't crash, scheduling meetings, keeping track of technical deadlines, and listening to the people who benefit from the fruit of your effort trash talk you on your own forums, you don't have an opinion worth considering.

The intense anti-admin sentiment lately has made me think about Fantasy Roleplay, the LoTC competitor of 6 years ago which was a lot more fun than LoTC was 6 years ago. It fizzled out for the same reason it was so enjoyable- the admins poured heart and soul into responding to and appeasing players, and found no reward in doing so good enough to justify their continued effort.

LoTC is almost a 15 year old server (I think?). If I was head admin 6 years ago, or whenever the last big TOS ban was, or now, I would have let it die. The people keeping it alive are self-evidently not doing so to appease you.

Daisy is probably the only admin I like rn, besides Smol. Daisy is flawed, yes, it’s a Minecraft server. She actively tries and fixes things and has done stuff in the past to upset people but it’s a ******* Minecraft server. You don’t need to dedicate your time to a Minecraft server. If you wanna be tech, get a JOB AS A TECHNICIAN.

Please see my edit, if you have not and are responding to this.

I had a talk with Daisy recently, and some friends have come forth pointing out the good they do behind the scenes - Both in this thread, and outside this thread.

Perhaps they shouldn't step down as an admin, but I do think they should improve in terms of transparency. This is something that fuels conspiracy theories - a lot of which I rather heavily bought into before I was recently informed of how things actually are. Many claims have been overrated - or things that have been brought up as if they had actually happened recently, had actually happened 10 years ago - Things that no longer hold relevance ('Prom', DMCA, ETC).

I've heard they're actually aware of these concerns and wish to address them. I can never wish ill will upon someone actively trying to be the best person they can. I apologize for my judgements.

This Admin team is working, of that I'm entirely sure. You may not see it, you may not be able to point to it, but they're still working.

Admins can get sleepy from time to time, but that's why we have the Admin protocol. With Josh leaving, and a new Admin added to the team, it'll be all hands on deck. I can guarantee you that, as the Mod Admin packet is being prepared, and candidates are being interviewed, etc. Its definitely busy behind the scenes.

Me and Daisy have had our own very public spats and issues in the past, but I would never say that @Daisywasn't working towards a better LoTC. I would never put someone down for putting time and effort into something we all enjoy. That's counter productive: but I think everyone understands your frustration, even the people/person you're frustrated with. Apathy is a real thing and we need to combat it.

I'm glad you managed to speak to Daisy. It sounds like you got a much better understanding than you had previously. We only get a better server through more communication which goes both ways, and better transparency around decision making from the staff backed up by opinion and feedback.

Love Harold x
