What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1) BIOGRAPHY

The biography is a really important part in an application. As i've seen with apps 90% of them get denied because they write a 5 sentence biography. With the biography it sets out the guidelines of your character, meaning you HAVE to follow them throughout the server. This is an example of a biography that i found that had an error in it. "Once his leg was cut. The left leg was crippled for life" Then next sentence "After he walked to the temple" Since he just destroyed the last sentence by saying he walked and he was cripple. It proves he didn't read over it. And the biography needs to relate to the lore. As you can't be a 9990808 old elf or born in the Mines of Moria.

2) Race Stereotypes

Honestly i hate seeing an Elven archer or an Dwarf miner pop up in every second app. This makes the server repetitive and get boring. With the Stereotypes the only thing it shows that you haven't thought about anything relating to the character and half-hearted it. Though i won't care if it makes sense and it's unique. Like someone called Honeydew would piss off any app team member just reading that name and it's very unlikely for it to be accepted.

3) Grammar!

Grammar is a vital part of any application. Making it easier to read for the team and makes you seem like you're smart enough to role-play and understand the mechanics for it. As for the grammar it depends on the person and their mood. Certain app members will auto denied after 2 or 3 grammar mistakes. As i will probably be one of these people since grammar is vital and I hate reading over classmates work that you can't understand. And this is the exact same as reading a 3 year olds work to a mature persons work.

4) The RP question

If they don't answer it the app should be denied instantly. Since it makes people aware ((The app team)) Whether or not you have potential on this server. The question is a fairly simple question so people shouldn't miss it but people do. And games like WoW aren't really RP experience . So answer the question truthfully

5/6) Non-RP skin and One worded answers.

The non-rp skin is an obvious one. No one wants to watch a couple of Bob the builders running around burning things,But if the skin was suppose orc. It would create a terrifying atmosphere and brighten up the experience.

The skills questions that are one worded are bad. Especially if you go "I'm good at everything" Just face it. Nobody's perfect. Plus characters with flaws are more enjoyable than the Jack of all trades characters which normally power-game anyway.

Thanks you for reading this and i look forward to a response

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1- Realistic Roleplay Skills/Bio

Well, this is a roleplay server at all. Their skills on roleplaying show how they will act in the server. For example, the applicant says that he is the son of Enor. Its false. When you join the server, your a citizen of your race (Orc, Human, Elf, Dwarf). Then you must find a job and work your way up. For another example, if the character says his good at everything, its not acceptable too. No human is good at everything.

When i applied, i said that my character could only build small forts, and he doesnt like farming. Thats what it should be like, the applier needs to have some disadvantages. You can read the bio of the character to learn how he/she will RP in the server. For example, if the bio is the following:

"John Purple was born in Oren, and was the son of Endor. He commanded the army of the knights, and he can do .... and ....."

This bio is false. As i said before, you are just a citizen. If the bio is like the following:

"John Purple was born in Oren, and his father was a farmer of Oren. His mother died when he was 4. His father trained him for farming, and when he was 15 he became a proffesional farmer. His father died of a illness when he was 25, and he worked on his farming skills. When he was 33, he became a master farmer. He is still in Oren now, working at a farm."

This means the character is specialized into farming, but not wielding a sword. (Maybe when he is in danger.) This bio is true. It means that the character will be a human, and buy a farm in Oren and be a farmer. This is how a realistic bio should be.

2- The Rules and The Lore

Well, basicly they are the rules. If the applicant doesnt read them, he would meta-game, grief or just be annoying to the other players. Then the players would contact to a GM, and get him banned. Then he would spam the forums probably. There would be a total chaos. I dont want that to happen to a great server.

If we pass that, the applicant wouldnt know the races, and randomly go to the Orc Kingdom as a human. He would get killed and he will probably go for revenge, and then there is it. A war has started. No one would want a random war because of a human going into the Orc Land then raging and killing Orcs. Then here is it, a total chaos again.

3- Grammar and English Language

Well, this is a English server at all. We are probably all Americans or British. I personally wouldnt want a German coming in and saying German words.

To be honest, my mother is Turkish. But i learned English from online sites/games like this. I can understand if the person is German/Russian etc. and can make some grammar mistakes. Anyone can do that. But i cant understand an application with Russian or German. Or i couldnt understand a application like these words:

"How did you hear about us?: i hear abot u with mc site i just fnd."

Can you understand this? I cant. The person needs some Grammar and English. I dont expect someone with awesome grammar or English. I just want it to be like this:

"How did you hear about us?: I heard you with the top 100 minecraft site i just find."

This person is probably from another country, i would understand this and fix his grammar. (I know i said find instead of found, i just made a example grammar error.)

4- Format and Effort

Well, first of all the REAL application form is needed, not the one you created. Also if its even REAL, it must not be edited. The questions should be in the right order too.

For the effort, if you just reply the questions with Yes or No (not all of them, like "Are you a capable builder?" question.), they dont put an effort in it. For example, i expect the question to be like:

"Are you a capable builder?: Yes, he can build farms but not castles or military forts."

I expect it to be like that, not like answers with Yes/No. There are alot of people there waiting to be accepted and they DESERVE it, and they put EFFORT in it. For another example, my last application for The Application Team was nooby. I didnt put any effort in it. You can look at it for example . You also need to write it with your OWN WORDS. If its copied or answered with Yes/No, it would mean the guy is lazy. Another reason to decline.

5- Dedication

Well, your applying to a huge server. You must check your app after your done with it, dont post it after your done with everything. You could have made a mistake in your spelling or your information, you should fix that.

Well this is like a school exam. If you dont check it, you get mistakes. If you do, you get A+. They look the same, dont they? Check your errors, get a 50+ chance to be accepted in. Its even for me, if i was in this team, i would check the app again after i have readen it, so i can have a TRUE decision.

There are alot of more rules, but these ones are the main.

LordOfNoobs... Seriously you've posted your application like 3 times now...You believe this will give yourself an advantage by being at the front at all times, but the fact of the matter is that If you keep pretty much spamming your application, I doubt an Admin will accept you...

Now now, he probably wasn't aware he should have just edited it. At first I thought of reporting mine before ultimately editing it instead.

Cut the guy slack... Provided he doesn't repost it again that is.

Try not to find a way to flame me as I say this, but the fact that you acted in this sense may harm your own.

QFT

Being rash and arrogant as such gains you nothing in the long run. I understand why you acted as such, but the way you acted was far from appropriate.

Nay, I don't intend to start a flame war, but however I believe it's unfair to back someone up, who has posted their application 3 times, just so theirs can be write at the front for an admin to read, yes in some way the way I said that was unneccessery, as the word "pathetic" made me seem very arrogant, but the fact is... It aggravates me when someone believes, "I want this, So how about I spam mine so that it is at the front at all times, therefore giving no-one else a chance".

Trust in the Game Moderators, inevitably they'll have to swim through the applications and hand pick the ones that are most intelligent and most capable.

I wouldn't worry about your standings. You may be hot-headed at times, but it is also true you are capable of showing maturity. Your application was superb on top of that.

Just think before you post here-on-out regarding people like that, and I'm sure they will let it slide.

Indeed, next time I will try to come of with a better approach instead of being arrogant towards them, and yes you may be correct that he himself wasn't aware that is recommended that you only post once, as it clogs up this topic... So I apoligise to not just Lordofthenoobs, but everyone included in this topic, It was unnecessery :)

Good show, giving off such humility! I applaude you!

...However, this got horribly derailed from the topics purpose, so the best thing now will be to sit back and watch the applications flood in.
