If you need me, I can surely help. If you need me when you're building, simply contact me.

Sure Mylas you can help. Native is and I asked Liri. I still need to ask Native if this is going to be done OOC or IC. Either is fine for this project. So you can join on in at any time.

Also note:

GM's and I will be doing ascetics. Im sure Native can handle the tree entrance while other GM's can add rivers and what not.

Others will be doing homes. But since GM's can do anything..... well its self explanatory, they can do anything haha :D

Nope. Just to change the entrance to Laurelin. Everyone seems to be changing the way there cities look so why not Laruelin? The entrance, to me, seems a little plain. So why not ask the elven community if they think it should look more pretty? Thats the way im going with this.

what about the new houses and such? By the way, do we get paid? I could use some money.

There will be enough room for homes im sure of it. Dont worry. Ill also speak to Native if he can pay you guys for you efforts. I dont want money but I wouldgladly ask Native about it.

Also I have decided to do this as an Ic build. So everyone start getting your wood (no pun intended) gather as much wood as you can of all kinds. Also re-plant, after all we are elves.

((Ok home from DC so I can begin working on the screenies :) ))

So, because we will be helping with the homes, I have decided to make and experiment with different house designs in an area where there isn't anyone around ((ssp)). After I finish a few, I will draw them to the best of my abilities ((screenshots)) and put them here, and maybe give a little bit of info on them!

EDIT:

So I have finished my home for the wood elves! It is really quite simple to make, all you have to do is plant the seed of a tree and let it grow for a few centuries, but if you are impatient, you could always grow it using druid magic! After that, somewhat hollow out the inside of the trunk, but not too much or the tree might collapse from a weak base! Then you just add doors, maybe a few windows here and there, and you are done! Piece of cake.

Here are some drawings of mine:

I will now work on constructing some nice housing ideas for the wood elves and the high elves, as they are equally important :D

OOC: To make this tree, I used Native's guide to making elven trees, because I have NO IDEA how to use world edit and/or Voxel Sniper. I must say though that before I made this tree, I thought his guide still required a lot of practice and experience, but this was the first tree I ever made of this size, and I personally think it turned out great :) !

MC Name: vegan166

Character Name: Elf_Diplomat_Torak ((when im at the dancing dwarf inn, I might be Innkeeper_Torak))

Are you good at building? Well, I'd be rather cocky to say I was, eh? Ask someone that has seen the dancing dwarf inn, my house, or the laurelin games. They shall tell you their opinion.

If so then what have you made in the server? Lets go from the start now! Alright, from the start xD

So in the beginning, I think I made some super sucky sandstone/cobble house in the wilds. Don't judge me! After this, I started to make a pretty nice inn next to it, with some good ideas in it. Sadly, the laurelin region got ****ed up, and my inn (which after a long talk with native, was protected) was destroyed. Native agreed to move the location of it. I spent about a week+ making it, and after this time, I can truly say that it might be my greatest pride on this server. After a while of "innkeeping" I bought a stall in serpent's ridge and fixed it up. Then I made my house next to the sea, which I have to admit is a beauty too. Then I saw the great city of Aeriel! I quickly became a good friend of Lucius Murmillo, a kind dwarf. I was basicly his building "assistant", I came up with a few ideas for him, and helped a little to build the elven section. That's when I though I'd move on to the next level, something a bit more challenging. So one day when I saw Native, I told him my idea: the laurelin games! He liked my ideas for the games, and granted me the tree building contest lot to build on. So I spent the next few weeks on this (yeah, im a slow builder =P), and I had gotten shootout done. Haelphon helped me with the "to the top" game, which is still being built. I've remodeled everything I think needed remodeling, and yeah, thats about it folks!

What have you made outside the server? Haha, you really do not want to know what I made before playing lord of the craft! Especially those survival servers... gah! Cobblestone monstrosities. But I think lord of the craft influenced my building a lot. After that, I began to build some cool things, like dwarven houses, human houses, ginormous trees (Ok, Ill admit it! I suck at doing the leaves xD)), and some ideas for things I'm going to build on the server.

Are you mature? I would say so, but once again, it would be cocky to.

Do you love Laurelin? Oh, do I!? Shiftnative's got some serious talent, man!

While traveling, I came across an ancient, weathered book covered in dust, and to my good fortune, it was all about the dark elves of aegis! I have been looking for good designs for the homes of dark elves, and this book helped me out a good bit. Here is a passage that I plan to work with:

"Dark elves are very widespread. They live anywhere. They drift until they find the place that feels right to them. They live in small family groups in small homes. Because Dark elves have a strong sense of destiny, they have an easy view on halfbreeds and will raise them regardless of other considerations that others have. Dark elves live in small, sparsely furnished houses. The colours are soothing and there are no locks. They have high windows to take best advantage of light. As they travel a lot, their possessions are easy to pack up."

To sum it up, I believe that the house design that would best suit a dark elf would NOT be an underground one, but preferably in an area where there is a lot of open sunlight (aka not under or near the huge Laurelin type trees), as well as an area where the dark elves are decently separated from the other elven sub-races. It would have high windows (maybe 4-5 blocks high), be decently sized but not take up too much space (houses probably 12x8 in area maximum, no need for mansions) and have colors that aren't too distracting yet not ugly.

Once again, I will come up with designs for these homes and put up drawings when I finish.

OOC: I didn't actually find this in a book on the server, this info is basically the summarizing of the info I found on google about dark elves. The quote was from a particular site that seemed to agree with most of what a heard about dark elves. Also, I noticed on another thread that Native posted pictures of the entrance of a dark elf settlement, and the entrance was a sewer like entrance leading underground, so I plan on showing him this information.

Hello. I do enjoy this idea. I have felt in the past that the gates to Laurelin were not very fitting of Elven nature.

I would like to make a suggestion. Perhaps two great trees would lie astride the gate itself. The trees themselves could act as look out towers of sorts and there could be an arching bridge between the tree trunks, above the gate.

If it doesn't make sense, I shall attempt to clarify myself. Just my input though.
